Validation of a smart structural concept for wing-flap camber morphing

  • The study is aimed at investigating the feasibility of a high TRL solution for a wing flap segment characterized by morphable camber airfoil and properly tailored to be implemented on a real-scale regional transportation aircraft. On the base of specific aerodynamic requirements in terms of target airfoil shapes and related external loads, the structural layout of the device was preliminarily defined. Advanced FE analyses were then carried out in order to properly size the load-carrying structure and the embedded actuation system. A full scale limited span prototype was finally manufactured and tested to: ${\bullet}$ demonstrate the morphing capability of the conceived structural layout; ${\bullet}$ demonstrate the capability of the morphing structure to withstand static loads representative of the limit aerodynamic pressures expected in service; ${\bullet}$ characterize the dynamic behavior of the morphing structure through the identification of the most significant normal modes. Obtained results showed high correlation levels with respect to numerical expectations thus proving the compliance of the device with the design requirements as well as the goodness of modeling approaches implemented during the design phase.

정적 RAM 셀 특성에 따른 소프트 에러율의 변화 (Study of Accelerated Soft Error Rate for Cell Characteristics on Static RAM)

  • We investigated accelerated soft error rate(ASER) in 8M static random access memory(SRAM) cells. The effects on ASER by well structure, operational voltage, and cell transistor threshold voltage are examined. The ASER decreased exponentially with respect to operational voltage. The chips with buried nwell1 layer showed lower ASER than those either with normal well structure or with buried nwell1 + buried pwell structure. The ASER decreased as the ion implantation energy onto buried nwell1 changed from 1.5 MeV to 1.0 MeV. The lower viscosity of the capping layer also revealed lower ASER value. The decrease in the threshold voltage of driver or load transistor in SRAM cells caused the increase in the transistor on-current, resulting in lower ASER value. We confirmed that in order to obtain low ASER SRAM cells, it is necessary to also the buried nwell1 structure scheme and to fabricate the cell transistors with low threshold voltage and high on-current.

An Accurate Analysis for Sandwich Steel Beams with Graded Corrugated Core Under Dynamic Impulse

  • This paper addresses the dynamic loading characteristics of the shock tube onto sandwich steel beams as an efficient and accurate alternative to time consuming and complicated fluid structure interaction using finite element modeling. The corrugated sandwich steel beam consists of top and bottom flat substrates of steel 1018 and corrugated cores of steel 1008. The corrugated core layers are arranged with non-uniform thicknesses thus making sandwich beam graded. This sandwich beam is analogous to a steel beam with web and flanges. Substrates correspond to flanges and cores to web. The stress-strain relations of steel 1018 at high strain rates are measured using the split-Hopkinson pressure. Both carbon steels are assumed to follow bilinear strain hardening and strain rate-dependence. The present finite element modeling procedure with an improved dynamic impulse loading assumption is validated with a set of shock tube experiments, and it provides excellent correlation based on Russell error estimation with the test results. Four corrugated graded steel core arrangements are taken into account for core design parameters in order to maximize mitigation of blast load effects onto the structure. In addition, numerical study of four corrugated steel core placed in a reverse order is done using the validated finite element model. The dynamic behavior of the reversed steel core arrangement is compared with the normal core arrangement for deflections, contact force between support and specimen and plastic energy absorption.

투수성 포장과 배수성 포장 구조형식의 성능평가 및 비교 연구 (A Study on the Performance Evaluation and Comparison of Porous and Drainage Pavement Types)

  • PURPOSES : The permeable pavement type has been rapidly developed for solving problems regarding traffic noise in the area of housing complex and heavy rainwater drainage in order to account for the climate change. In this regards, the objective of this study is to figure out the characteristics of pavement types. METHODS : The laboratory test for deriving optimum asphalt content (OAC) was conducted using the mixtures of the permeable asphalt surface for the pavement surface from Marshall compaction method. Based on its results, the pavement construction at the test field was conducted. After that, the site performance tests for measuring the traffic noise, strength and permeability were carried out for the relative evaluation in 2 months after the traffic opening. The specific site tests are noble close proximity method (NCPX), Light falling deflectometer test (LFWD) and the compact permeability test. RESULTS : The ordered highest values of the traffic noise level can be found such as normal dense graded asphalt, drainage and porous structure types. In the results from LFWD, the strength values of the porous and drainage asphalt types had been lower, but the strength of normal asphalt structure had relatively stayed high. CONCLUSIONS :The porous structure has been shown to perform significantly better in permeability and noise reduction than others. In addition to this study, the evaluation of the properties and the determination of the optimum thickness for the subgrade course under the porous pavement will be conducted using ground investigation technique in the further research.

  • In J. Korean Math. Soc, Zhang, Xu and other authors investigated the following problem: what is the structure of finite groups which have many normal subgroups? In this paper, we shall study this question in a more general way. For a finite group G, we define the subgroup $\mathcal{A}(G)$ to be intersection of the normalizers of all non-cyclic subgroups of G. Set $\mathcal{A}_0=1$. Define $\mathcal{A}_{i+1}(G)/\mathcal{A}_i(G)=\mathcal{A}(G/\mathcal{A}_i(G))$ for $i{\geq}1$. By $\mathcal{A}_{\infty}(G)$ denote the terminal term of the ascending series. It is proved that if $G=\mathcal{A}_{\infty}(G)$, then the derived subgroup G' is nilpotent. Furthermore, if all elements of prime order or order 4 of G are in $\mathcal{A}(G)$, then G' is also nilpotent.

구조변경을 통한 선박용 Provision Crane의 진동저감 (Vibration reduction of provision crane in a ship by structural dynamic modification)

  • A provision crane is generally installed on the upper deck to the rear of the accommodation of the ship in order to load and unload engine part or something heavy. There are two types of provision cranes: one is jib-type and the other is monorail-type. So the natural frequency of the jib-type crane equipment is low, therefore, there are some possibility of resonance between crane structure and the main excitation sources of the ship in normal operating range. This study describe a vibration reduction technique for provision crane by applying a proper countermeasure through finite element analysis and modal test. In order to find out weak point in design of provision crane, a sensitive analysis has been performed.

  • In this paper, we study the dynamics of a two-parameter unfolding system $\chi$' = y, y' = $\beta$y+$\alpha$f($\chi\alpha\pm\chiy$+yg($\chi$), where f($\chi$,$\alpha$) is a second order polynomial in $\chi$ and g($\chi$) is strictly nonlinear in $\chi$. We show that the higher order term yg($\chi$) in the system does not change qulitative structure of the Hopf bifurcations near the fixed points for small $\alpha$ and $\beta$ if the nontrivial fixed point approaches to the origin as $\alpha$ approaches zero.

  • Increasing the need of national safety management system in order to an epoch-making improvement to scientific disaster management which appears new types of disasters through the exchange of traditional disaster environment and responds actively to the rapid exchange of social environment based on u-IT. Requiring the development of systematical information sharing networking system and sharing realtime data amongst government, local authorities and related organisations under both safety management in normal times and circumstance management in disaster times, and need for the establishment of national safety strategy, which has been strengthened function such as prevention and preparation. This research provides a basic scheme and strategic tasks in order to constitute preventing scientific national disaster prevention structure at anytime and anywhere from disaster which is based on ubiquitous technology and realise the intelligent national disaster prevention system of u-safe Korea.

하지 절단환자의 보행 능력 향상을 위한 에너지 저장형 의족의 유연 용골 설계를 위한 기초연구 (A Basic Study on the Design of the Flexible Keel in the Energy-Storage Prosthetic Foot for the Improvement of the Walking Performance of the Below Knee Amputees)

  • 본 논문에서는 하지 전단 환자의 보행 성능을 개선하고, 활동성을 증대시긴 목적으로 에너지 저장형 의족의 유연 용골 선계를 위한 기초 연구를 수행하였다. 문헌에서 얻을 수 있는 2차원 시상면에서의 정성걸음새와 인체측정 데이터를 분석하여, 의족의 유연 용골 기초 구조 모델을 제시하였다. 기초 구조 모델은 단순한 빔과 선혈 회전 스프링 ·댐퍼로 구성되었다. 고강도 경량 소재를 의족의 유연 용골 기초 구조에 적용하기 위해 탄소섬유 강화 복합재료를 용골의 기초 구조 소재로 선정하였다. 빔의 형상 변화에 따른 복원변형에너지를 유한요소해석에 의해 계산해내고, 빔형상 변화가 설계변수가 될 수 있음을 제시하였다. 복원변형에너지를 많이 저장할 수 있는 유연 용골 구조의 설계를 위해, 직교배열표를 이용한 조지전 시뮬레이션 계획을 세우고, 유한요소 프로그램인 ABAQUS를 이용하여 계획에 따른 유한요소해석을 수행하고, 분산활석을 통해 효과적인 에너지 저장형 의족의 유연 용골 구조를 얻어냈다. 유연 용골 구조를 이용한 의족걸음새의 동적 시뮬레이션 모델을 완성하고, 한 보행 사이클 동안의 동적 해석을 수행하였다. 그리하여 의족 시스템 개발을 위한 효과적 설계 과정이 제시되었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 탄성체 구조물로 형성된 응용에서 좀더 공통된 상황에 관한 것 이다.유일한 선형해석모델의 규명에 필요한 정보제공을 위하여 충분히 넓은 진동수 범위에 걸쳐 응답을 측정하고, 구조물을 기진시키는 것은 불가능하고 비경제적이며 또 는 일반적으로 바람직하지 못할 것으로 생각된다.
