In a wireless sensor network (WSN) setting, this paper presents a distributed decision-making framework and illustrates its application in an online structural health monitoring (SHM) system. The objective is to recover a damage severity vector, which identifies, localizes, and quantifies damages in a structure, via distributive and collaborative decision-making among wireless sensors. Observing the fact that damages are generally scarce in a structure, this paper develops a nonlinear 0-norm minimization formulation to recover the sparse damage severity vector, then relaxes it to a linear and distributively tractable one. An optimal algorithm based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) and a heuristic distributed linear programming (DLP) algorithm are proposed to estimate the damage severity vector distributively. By limiting sensors to exchange information among neighboring sensors, the distributed decision-making algorithms reduce communication costs, thus alleviate the channel interference and prolong the network lifetime. Simulation results in monitoring a steel frame structure prove the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

In this paper, we aim to evaluate the performance of the digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm used in [8] in order to improve the resolution of spectrometers with fixed number of low-cost, non-ideal filters. In such spectrometers, the resolution is limited by the number of filters. We aim to demonstrate via new experiments that the resolution improvement by six times over the conventional limit is possible by using the DSP algorithm as claimed by [8].

An intelligent digital redesign technique (IDR) for the observer-based output feedback Takagi-Sugeno (T-5) fuzzy control system with fuzzy outputs is developed. The considered IDR condition is cubically parameterized as convex minimization problems of the norm distances between linear operators to be matched.'rho stability condition is easily embedded and the separations principle is explicitly shown.
The gas-phase reactions of methyl formate with anions, $-NH_2,\;-OH,\;-CH_2CN$, are studied theoretically using the AM1 method. Stationary points are located by the reaction coordinate method, refined by the gradient norm minimization and characterized by the determination of Hessian matrix. Potential energy profiles and the stationary point structures are presented for all conceivable processes. Four reaction paths are found to be possible: formyl proton and methyl proton abstractions, carbonyl addition, and $S_N2$ process. For the most basic anion $-NH_2$ the proton abstraction path is favored, while in other case, $OH\;and\;-CH_2CN$, the carbonyl addition paths are favored. In all cases the $S_N2$ process is the most exothermic, but due to the relatively high activation barrier the process can be ruled out.

In this paper, we investigate a hybrid algorithm for finding zeros of the sum of maximal monotone operators and Lipschitz continuous monotone operators which is also a common fixed point problem for finite family of relatively quasi-nonexpansive mappings and split feasibility problem in uniformly convex real Banach spaces which are also uniformly smooth. The iterative algorithm employed in this paper is design in such a way that it does not require prior knowledge of operator norm. We prove a strong convergence result for approximating the solutions of the aforementioned problems and give applications of our main result to minimization problem and convexly constrained linear inverse problem.

In this paper, an algorithm for approximating zeros of sum of three monotone operators is introduced and its convergence properties are studied in the setting of 2-uniformly convex and uniformly smooth Banach spaces. Unlike the existing algorithms whose step-sizes usually depend on the knowledge of the operator norm or Lipschitz constant, a nice feature of the proposed algorithm is the fact that it requires only a diminishing and non-summable step-size to obtain strong convergence of the iterates to a solution of the problem. Finally, the proposed algorithm is implemented in the setting of a classical Banach space to support the theory established.

This paper related with the ECMA (Enchanced CMA) algorithm performance which is possible to simultaneously compensation of the amplitude and phase by appling the minimum disturbance techniques in the CMA adatpve equalizer. The ECMA can improving the gradient noise amplification problem, stability and roburstness performance by the minimum disturbance technique that is the minimization of the equalizer tap weight variation in the point of squared euclidiean norm and the decision directed mode, and then the now cost function were proposed in order to simultaneouly compensation of amplitude and phase of the received signal with the minimum increment of computational operations. The performance of ECMA algorithm was compared to present MCMA by the computer simulation. For proving the performance, the recovered signal constellation that is the output of equalizer output signal and the residual isi and Maximum Distortion charateristic and MSE learning curve that are presents the convergence performance in the equalizer and the overall frequency transfer function of channel and equalizer were used. As a result of computer simulation, the ECMA has more better compensation capability of amplitude and phase in the recovered constellation, and the convergence time of adaptive equalization has improved compared to the MCMA.

From the perspective of reducing the sampling cost of color images at high resolution, block-based compressive sensing (CS) has attracted considerable attention as a promising alternative to conventional Nyquist/Shannon sampling. On the other hand, for storing/transmitting applications, CS requires a very efficient way of representing the measurement data in terms of data volume. This paper addresses this problem by developing a measurement-coding method with the proposed customized Huffman coding. In addition, by noting the difference in visual importance between the luma and chroma channels, this paper proposes measurement coding in YCbCr space rather than in conventional RGB color space for better rate allocation. Furthermore, as the proper use of the image property in pursuing smoothness improves the CS recovery, this paper proposes the integration of a low pass filter to the CS recovery of color images, which is the block-based ${\ell}_{20}$-norm minimization. The proposed coding scheme shows considerable gain compared to conventional measurement coding.

It is not easy to reconstruct the geometrical characteristics of the distorted images captured by the devices. One of the most popular optimization methods is fast iterative shrinkage/ thresholding algorithm. In this paper, to deal with its approximation error and the turbulence of the decrease process, an adaptive proximal conjugate gradient (APCG) framework is proposed. It contains three stages. At first stage, a series of adaptive penalty matrices are generated iterate-to-iterate. Second, to trade off the reconstruction accuracy and the computational complexity of the resulting sub-problem, a practical solution is presented, which is characterized by solving the variable ellipsoidal-norm based sub-problem through exploiting the structure of the problem. Third, a correction step is introduced to improve the estimated accuracy. The numerical experiments of the proposed algorithm, in comparison to the favorable state-of-the-art methods, demonstrate the advantages of the proposed method and its potential.
Solutions to the problems of structural parameter estimation from modal response using leastsquares minimization of force or displacement residuals are generally sensitive to noise in the response measurements. The sensitivity of the parameter estimates is governed by the physical characteristics of the structure and certain features of the noisy measurements. It has been shown that the regularization method can be used to reduce effects of the measurement noise on the estimation error through adding a regularization function to the parameter estimation objective function. In this paper, we adopt the regularization function as the Euclidean norm of the difference between the values of the currently estimated parameters and the a priori parameter estimates. The effect of the regularization function on the outcome of parameter estimation is determined by a regularization factor. Based on a singular value decomposition of the sensitivity matrix of the structural response, it is shown that the optimal regularization factor is obtained by using the maximum singular value of the sensitivity matrix. This selection exhibits the condition where the effect of the a priori estimates on the solutions to the parameter estimation problem is minimal. The performance of the proposed algorithm is investigated in comparison with certain algorithms selected from the literature by using a numerical example.
