  • Adaptive estimators for a class of nonlinear time series models has been proposed by several authors. Koul and Schick(1997) proposed the adaptive estimators without sample splitting for location-type time series models. They also showed by simulation that the adaptive estimators without sample splitting have smaller mean squared errors than those of the adaptive estimators with sample splitting. the present paper generalized the result in a case of location-scale type nonlinear time series models by simulation.

  • The turbulent flow is of fundamental interest because the conservation equations for thermodynamics, mass and momentum are linked together. This turbulent flow consists of some coherent time- and space-organized vortical structures. Research has already shown that some dynamic systems and experimental models still cannot provide a good nonlinear analysis of turbulent time series. In the real turbulent flow, very complicated nonlinear behaviors, which are affected by many vague factors are present. In this paper, a kernel-based machine for fuzzy nonlinear regression analysis is proposed to predict the nonlinear time series of turbulent flows. In order to show the practicality and usefulness of this model, we present an example of predicting the near-wall turbulence time series as a verifiable model and compare with fuzzy piecewise regression. The results of practical applications show that the proposed method is appropriate and appears to be useful in nonlinear analysis and in fuzzy environments to predict the turbulence time series.

  • Time series data are influenced by the external events such as holiday, strike, oil shock, and political change, so the external events cause a sudden change to the time series data. We regard the observation as outlier that occurred as a result of external events. In general, it is called intervention if we know the period and the reason of external events, and it makes an analyst difficult to establish a time series model. Therefore, it is important that we analyze the styles and effects of intervention. In this paper, we considered the linear time series model with invention and compared with nonlinear time series models such as ARCH, GARCH model and also we compared with the combination prediction method that Tong(1990) introduced. In the practical case study, we compared prediction power with RMSE among linear, nonlinear time series model with intervention and combination prediction method.

  • Simply, Nonlinear dynamics theory means the complicated and noise-like phenomena originated form nonlinearity involved in deterministic dynamical system. An almost all the natural signals have nonlinear property. However, there exist few analysis software tool or package for a research and development of applications. We develop nonlinear time series analysis simulator is to provide a common and useful tool for this purpose and to promote research and development of nonlinear dynamics theory. This simulator is consists of the following four modules such as generation module, preprocessing module, analysis module and ICA module. In this paper, we applied to Electroencephalograph (EEG), as it turned out, our simulator is able to analyze nonlinear time series. Besides, we could get the useful results using the various parameters. These results are used to diagnostic the brain diseases.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheme for the discretization of nonlinear systems using Taylor series expansion and the zero-order hold assumption. This scheme is applied to the sample-data representation of a nonlinear system with constant state tine-delay. The mathematical expressions of the discretization scheme are presented and the effect of the time-discretization method on key properties of nonlinear control system with state tine-delay, such as equilibrium properties and asymptotic ability, is examined. The proposed scheme provides a finite-dimensional representation for nonlinear systems with state time-delay enabling existing controller design techniques to be applied to then. The performance of the proposed discretization procedure is evaluated using a nonlinear system. For this nonlinear system, various sampling rates and time-delay values are considered.

  • This study proposes a new scheme for the sampled-data representation of nonlinear systems with time-delayed multi-input. The proposed scheme is based on the Taylor-series expansion and zero-order hold assumption. The mathematical structure of a new discretization scheme is explored. On the basis of this structure, the sampled-data representation of nonlinear systems including time-delay is derived. The new scheme is applied to nonlinear systems with two inputs and then the delayed multi-input general equation is derived. The resulting time-discretization provides a finite-dimensional representation of nonlinear control systems with time-delay enabling existing controller design techniques to be applied to them. In order to evaluate the tracking performance of the proposed scheme, an algorithm is tested for some of the examples including maneuvering of an automobile and a 2-DOF mechanical system.

  • An output time delay always exists in practical systems. Analysis of the delay phenomenon in a continuous-time domain is sophisticated. It is appropriate to obtain its corresponding discrete-time model for implementation via a digital computer. A new method for the discretization of nonlinear systems using Taylor series expansion and the zero-order hold assumption is proposed in this paper. This method is applied to the sampled-data representation of a nonlinear system with a constant output time-delay. In particular, the effect of the time-discretization method on key properties of nonlinear control systems, such as equilibrium properties and asymptotic stability, is examined. In addition, 'hybrid' discretization schemes resulting from a combination of the 'scaling and squaring' technique with the Taylor method are also proposed, especially under conditions of very low sampling rates. A performance of the proposed method is evaluated using two nonlinear systems with time-delay output.

Practical issues associated with the selection of the method's parameters to meet CPU time and accuracy requirements, are examined as well. • An integrated method is proposed for structural nonlinear damage detection based on time series analysis and the higher statistical moments of structural responses in this study. It combines the time series analysis, the higher statistical moments of AR model residual errors and the fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering techniques. A few comprehensive damage indexes are developed in the arithmetic and geometric mean of the higher statistical moments, and are classified by using the FCM clustering method to achieve nonlinear damage detection. A series of the measured response data, downloaded from the web site of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) USA, from a three-storey building structure considering the environmental variety as well as different nonlinear damage cases, are analyzed and used to assess the performance of the new nonlinear damage detection method. The effectiveness and robustness of the new proposed method are finally analyzed and concluded.

  • Anew discretization method for the input-driven nonlinear continuous-time system with time delay is proposed. It is based on the combination of Taylor series expansion and first-order hold assumption. The mathematical structure of the new discretization scheme is explored. The performance of the proposed discretization procedure is evaluated by case studies. The results demonstrate that the proposed discretization scheme can assure the system requirements even though under a large sampling period. A comparison between first order hold and zero-order hold is simulated also.
