Optimal shape design of a polymer extrusion die by inverse formulation

  • The optimum design problem of a coat-hanger die is solved by the inverse formulation. The flow in the die is analyzed using three-dimensional model. The new model for the manifold geometry is developed for the inverse formulation. The inverse problem for the optimum die geometry is formed as the optimization problem whose objective function is the linear combination of the square sum of pressure gradient deviation at die exit and the penalty function relating to the measure of non-smoothness of solution. From the several iterative solutions of the optimization problem, the optimum solution can be obtained automatically while producing the uniform flow rate distribution at die exit.

  • Nowadays, terms such as 'Smart Textile', 'Intelligent Textile' and 'Wearable Computing' are commonly used in everyday contexts. And radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of a wireless non-contact system that uses radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data from a tag attached to an object, for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking. These products are required technologies which are textile treatments, printing, ink, etc. Durability of textile substrates is an essential marker for conductive ink printing process. Especially, heat stability is important, since conductive ink should be processable (annealing, curing) at temperatures below $150^{\circ}C$. This study was application of RFID on textiles. The textile pre-treatment processes should be carried out to use RFID antenna on textiles.

  • The numerical solution of the Stokes equation with discontinuous viscosity and singular force term is challenging, due to the discontinuity of pressure, non-smoothness of velocity, and coupled discontinuities along interface.In this paper, we give an efficient algorithm to solve this problem by employing spectral Legendre and Chebyshev approximations.First, we present the algorithm for a problem defined in rectangular domain with straight line interface. Then it is generalized to a domain with smooth curve boundary and interface by employing spectral element method. Numerical experiments demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of our algorithm and its spectral convergence.

Contourlet 변환을 이용한 새로운 압축방법에 대한 연구 (The study of New Compression method using Contourlet transform)

  • Wavelet Transform is amenable to efficient algorithms. So wavelet transform was adopted many signal processing and communication applications. For example, the wavelet transform was adopted as the transform for JPEG2000. However, Wavelet has weakness about smoothness along the contours and limited directional information. Hence, recently, some new transforms have been introduced to take advantage of this property. So we use to other transform, called contourlet transform in compression. In this paper, we propose a new method for image compression based on the contourlet transform, which has been recently introduced. Contourlet transform has a good result about images with smooth contours. Moreover, Contourlet is feasible multiresolution and multidirection expansion using non-separable filter bank. This treatise shows a good image representation after compressing using contourlet transform.

  • Recently, multidimensional joint inversion of geophysical data based on fundamentally different physical properties has been actively studied. Joint inversion can provide a way to much more accurately image the subsurface structure. Through the joint inversion, furthermore, it is possible to directly estimate non-geophysical material properties from geophysical measurements. In this study, I derive the objective functions and normal equations of three different joint inversion approaches: one approach based on the structural similarity using cross-gradient, and the other two using the a priori information on the model parameters and the correlation between material properties. Since all the equations derived in this study are based on the same inversion method (smoothness constrained least-squares), it is possible to mix the joint inversion methods so as to produce a new joint inversion algorithm.

  • In meshless methods, the moving least squares approximation technique is widely used to approximate a solution space because of its useful numerical characters such as non-element approximation, easily controllable smoothness, and others. In this work, a generalized version of the moving least squares method Is introduced to enhance the approximation performance through the Information converning to the derivative of the field variable. The results of numerical tests for approximation verify the improved accuracy of the generalized meshless approximation procedure compared to the conventional moving least squares method. By using this generalized moving least squares method, meshless analysis of thin beam is carried out, and its performance is investigated.

A New Geometric Constant in Banach Spaces Related to the Isosceles Orthogonality

  • In this paper, starting with the geometric constants that can characterize Hilbert spaces, combined with the isosceles orthogonality of Banach spaces, the orthogonal geometric constant ΩX(α) is defined, and some theorems on the geometric properties of Banach spaces are derived. Firstly, this paper reviews the research progress of orthogonal geometric constants in recent years. Then, this paper explores the basic properties of the new geometric constants and their relationship with conventional geometric constants, and deduces the identity of ΩX(α) and γX(α). Finally, according to the identities, the relationship between these the new orthogonal geometric constant and the geometric properties of Banach Spaces (such as uniformly non-squareness, smoothness, convexity, normal structure, etc.) is studied, and some necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained.

  • In this paper, we study the correlation between the crystallinity of semiconductive compounds for eco-friendly power cables and the dispersive properties of carbon black. The crystal structure of the polymer material is advantageous for mechanical properties and heat-resistance. However, the polymer acts as an inhibitor to the dispersibility of carbon black. The purpose of this study is to develop a TPE semiconductive compound technology. The high heat resistance and ultra-smoothness characteristics which are required for high voltage and ultra-high voltage cables should be satisfied by designing and optimizing the structure of a non-crosslinking-type eco-friendly TPE semiconductive compound. The application of excess TPE resin was found to not only inhibit the processability in the compounding process, but also reduced the dispersion properties of carbon black due to higher crystallinity. After the crystallinity of the compound was identified through DSC analysis, it was compared with the related dispersion characteristics. Through this analysis and comparison, we designed the optimal structure of the eco-friendly TPE semiconductive compound.

커널 밀도 추정과 시공간 일치성을 이용한 동영상 객체 분할 (Video Object Segmentation using Kernel Density Estimation and Spatio-temporal Coherence)

  • 본 논문에서는 고정되지 않은 배경의 동영상에서 객체를 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 추적에 기반을 둔 기법으로 크게 세 단계의 과정으로 이루어져 있다. 첫 번째 단계는 초기 분할로서, 사용자의 반응을 이용하여 첫 프레임의 분할 결과를 획득하는 과정이다. 초기 분할을 통해 획득된 결과 샘플은 커널 밀도 추정을 이용하여 각 매크로 블록별 컬러 확률 밀도 함수를 생성하는데 사용된다. 두 번째 단계에서는 각 프레임에 대해 이전 프레임의 경계 정보와 움직임 벡터를 이용하여 일치성 띠를 생성하고, 생성된 띠에 대한 시공간 확률을 추정한다. 마지막 단계에서는 각 픽셀별 컬러, 시공간, 스무드항의 합으로 구성된 에너지 함수를 최소화하여 최종 결과를 획득한다. 실험 결과를 통해서 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법이 정확한 분할 결과를 추출하는 지 다양한 테스트 영상을 통해 확인한다.

  • Magnetocardiography provides non-invasive three-dimensional electroanatomical imaging of cardiac electrophysiology. The aim of this study is to find the index for using the indicator of magnetocardiography. An object of this study is 214 papers registered on www.pubmed.com. The index used in magnetocardiography is the interval, morphology, amplitude and integrals of QRS complex, P wave, T wave. The current density and electric field map are used, too. A new try of the index is LAS, W-HEAD, Relative Smoothness index(RS index) etc.
