Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the awareness of occupational hazards and personal protective equipment use among dental hygienists (DHs). Methods: A total of 271 self-administered questionnaires were obtained from 280 DHs working at dental hospitals or clinics in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea. Results: The occupational hazards included work involving dust (94.1%), volatile substances (86.0%), noise (97.0%), and light-curing units (96.7%). The proportion of dental hygiene tasks that participants perceived as harmful were 42.4%, 51.7%, 9.2%, and 31.4% in the same order as above. The proportion of participants who used dust-proof masks during work involving dust was 1.1%. Those who wore gas-proof masks and gloves for work using volatile substances were 0.7% and 31.2%, respectively. Participants who used goggles for work involving light-curing units were 31.0%. None of the participants used ear plugs for work involving noise. A total of 22.9% of the participants recognized the Material Safety Data Sheet, while 79.7% had never been educated about harmful work environments. Conclusion: When compared to exposure status and perception of occupational hazards, the level of protective equipment use was very low. Extra measures to increase DHs' use of personal protective equipment are necessary.
Although noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a significant public health problem, many people might not be aware that exposure to loud noise could occur hearing loss. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and analyze how importantly and seriously people are aware of NIHL using a 22-question survey. It was administered to random 150 people including between 20 s to 60 s. The questionnaire contained questions about i) views toward general health issues including hearing loss and tinnitus, ii) noise exposure, and iii) views toward hearing protection. Results showed that hearing loss was defined on a likert scale as 'a very big problem' by 17.33 % of respondents compared with other health issues. Surprisingly, most respondents (82 %) had not heard, read, or seen anything lately related to the issue of hearing loss. Many respondents had experience hearing problem or tinnitus under loud noise situations (85 %), however, only 11.33 % of respondents had used earplugs. Fortunately, many could be motivated to try ear protection if they were advised by a medical professional (80 %) or were aware of the potential for permeant hearing loss (78.67 %). We concluded that awareness of the potential for permanent hearing loss with noise and effective methods of hearing protection should be announced to public for preventing NIHL.

Recently the construction of stations under railway lines and railway sections passing through central area of cities are increasing, calling for an urgent establishment of countermeasures against railway vibration and its subsequent second-phase noise. Of technology developed up to now, the most efficient countermeasure is the floating slab track, a track system isolated from the sub-structure by springs. Unfortunately, however, the system design technology and technology for key components have not yet developed in Korea. As such, in this study, the analysis and design technology of floating slab track and its vibration isolator technology can be achieved. In preparation for future demands, it is expected to raise awareness for the need of technology self-support and to make a meaningful contribution to mitigating vibration and noise produced by the next-generation high-speed railway.

The legacy voice broadcast systems are used to broadcast the voice over an entire space or a specific zone. these broadcast systems generate unnecessary noise and waste of resources. In this paper, we propose a ubiquitous voice message broadcast system called uPaging, by combining the technique of location-awareness and the voice message delivery service in ubiquitous sensor network environment. In uPaging system, the wire/wireless hybrid network is used to implement the network system. Also, in order to actualize the location-awareness service, we use the Bidirectional Location ID-Exchange protocol was suggested by our previous research. the uPaging system can deliver the voice to a selected user or the location in which the user is present by this location awareness.

458 female workers working in the small and medium scaled industries in Inchon area were surveyed to study their general characteristics, health behavior, working and environmental conditions, awareness of exposure at hazardous materials, current health status, and degree of working satisfaction. Self-administered questionnaire was distributed to the female workers with the explanation by trained interviewer on the purpose of survey and the method how to answer. The results were as follows : (1) 75.5% of the respondents are living with their families and others are living in domitary or rent house for herself. Age distribution ranges from teenagers to warren in their forties. In marital status 69.0% of workers are single and 31.0% of them have ever married. 69.4% of workers are high school graduate. The size of factory is 48.3% with less than 300 workers, 42.1% with 300~500 workers. (2) Most of the workers(86.7%) are full time workers, 52% of the respondents have working experiences in other factories. More than 65% have fewer than 5 years working experience. (3) The awareness of exposure at noise was 33% of respondents, it was significantly different by skilled status. The awareness of exposure at dust, other hazardous material was each 13.3%, 12.4% of respondents. (4) 26% of them are unsatisfied with their working cognitions and 43.7% of them are unsatisfied with their welfare in occupational system unsatisfactory rate of promotion is higher in the unmarried workers(45.6%), skilled workers(47.2%), full time workers(47.4%), long term workers(50%), and awareness group of exposure hazardous material(51.3%), compared to married women workers, unskilled workers, part-time workers, short term workers and unawareness group of exposure at hazardous materials. (5) The index of working satisfaction is rated on a scale of 1 to 10 with the higher point indicating higher satisfaction. Among the selected variables, marital status, working status, the awareness of exposure at hazardous materials, were statistically significant with the index of working satisfaction. (6) By multiple regression analysis showed that the determinant factors of index of working condition were health index, the awareness of exposure at dust, the awareness of exposure other hazardous materials, marital status and working period. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between the awareness of exposure at hazardous material the index of working satisfaction. Therefore if the workers are less exposed to the hazardous material and are educated properly they will be more satisfied with their work thus improving their health and productivity. Finally, with the result of this study, there is a great need for the development of a health promotion program and a welfare policy for small-scale factories.

The purpose of this study is to investigate safety and dangerous awareness of environment on walking trails. For this purpose, questionnaire survey are carried out by people who had experience using walking trails during 2016. It is evaluated that environments of walking trails located inside big cities are inferior than ones located in small and medium-sized cities and countryside in air pollution, bed smell, water pollution, noise, and waste. Needs about management and number installed public restroom are high for hygienic environment of walking trails. With waste treatment, users of 2.4 percentage are showed improper behavior that they left their rubbish at the place out of view but others bring their trash. Accident likelihood is highly appreciated and possibility of physical accident like slipping is showed at the highest. The reasons of accident on walking trails are responded with carelessness of walkers and improper of installation or management of safety facility at the most. For safety environment of walking trails, needs of installation of safety fences and notices of dangerous area are requested. In order to separate prevention from paths of walking trails, signposts are needed at visual clearness, maintenance, installation with proper interval and location, and correct contents. Respondents of 2.4 percentage have experiences of accident on walking trails and physical accident like slipping is occurred at the most.

Today, detecting the location of moving object has been traced as various methods in our world. In this paper, we preset the system to improve the estimation accuracy utilizing detail localization using radar sensor based on WSN and situational awareness for a calibration (context aware) database, Rail concept. A variety of existing location tracking method has a problem with receiving of data and accuracy as tracking methodology, and since these located data are the only data to be collected for location tracing, the context aware or monitering as the surrounding environment is limited. So, in this paper, we enhanced the distance aware accuracy using radar sensor utilizing the Doppler effect among the distance measuring method, estimated the location using the Triangulation algorithm. Also, since we composed the environment data(temperature, illuminancem, humidity, noise) to entry of the database, it can be utilized in location-based service according to the later action information inference and positive context decision. In order to verify the validity of the suggested method, we give a few random situation and built test bed of designed node, and over the various test we proved the utilizing the context information through route tracking of moving and data processing.
