  • A highly performed Pd-based hydrogen membrane has prepared successfully on a modified porous nickel support. The porous nickel support modified by impregnation method of $Al(NO_3)_3{\cdot}9H_2O$ (Aldrich Co.) over the nickel powder showed a strong resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and thermal stability. Plasma surface modification treatment was introduced as a pre-treatment process instead of conventional HCl wet activation. Ceramic barrier was coated on the external surface of the prepared nickel supports to prevent intermetallic diffusion and to enhance the affinity between the support and membrane. Palladium and copper were deposited at thicknesses of $4\mu}m$ and $0.5{\mu}m$, respectively, on a barrier-coated support by DC sputtering process. The permeation measurement was performed in pure hydrogen at $400^{\circ}C$. The single gas permeation of our membrane was two times higher than that of the previous membrane which do not have ceramic barrier.

Chemical Bonding Nature and Mesoporous Structure of Nickel Intercalated Montmorillonite Clay

  • Mesoporous nickel intercalated aluminosilicate nanohybrid has been synthesized through a recombination reaction between the colloidal suspension of exfoliated montmorillonite nanosheets and aqueous nickel acetate solution. According to powder X-ray diffraction and field emission-scanning electron microscopic analyses, the intercalation of nickel species expands significantly the basal spacing of the host montmorillonite clay and the crystallites of the intercalation compound are assembled to form a house-of-card structure. $N_2$ adsorption-desorption isotherm measurements with BJH pore analyses clearly demonstrated that the porosity of the intercalate originates mainly from mesopores (diameter $\sim50\;\AA$) formed by the house-of-card type stacking of clay crystallites. From FT-IR and X-ray absorption spectroscopic analyses, it becomes certain that intercalated nickel ion is stabilized in an isolated $NiO_6$ octahedral unit. The present mesoporous intercalation compound is expected to be applicable as efficient catalysts or absorbents.

에너제틱 응용을 위한 Ni코팅된 Al분말소재 제조 및 산화거동 (Fabrication and Oxidation Behaviors of Nickel-coated Aluminum Powders for Energetic Applications)

  • In this study, nickel-coated aluminum (Ni/Al) powders were synthesized for the utilization of energetic applications. Oxide materials present at the surface of Al powders of $45{\mu}m$ in averaged size were removed by using sodium hydroxide(NaOH) solution which is used for controlling pH. Nickel material is coated into the surface of oxide-removed Al powders by electroless-plating process. The microstructure of fabricated Ni/Al powders shows that nickel layers with a few hundreds nm were very homogeneously formed onto the surface of Al powders. The oxidation behavior of Ni/Al exihibit somewhat faster oxidation rate than that of pure Al with surface oxidation. Also, the higher exothermic reaction was observed from the Ni/Al powders. From the result of this, nickel coating is very promising method to obtain highly reactive and safe Al powders for energetic applications.

  • 분말야금 니켈기 초내열합금은 항공기 터빈 엔진의 고온용 부품으로 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 상온, $600^{\circ}C$$700^{\circ}C$에서 CT시편을 이용하여 피로균열진전거동이 평가되었다. ASTM E647에서 제시한 직류전위차법이 피로균열진전 동안에 균열 길이를 측정하기 위하여 사용되었다. 응력비 0.5에서 피로균열진전속도는 응력비 0.1에서와 비교하여 더 빠르게 나타났다. 피로균열진전속도는 응력비와 온도의 증가와 함께 증가하였다. 파단면 관찰은 파괴메커니즘 분석을 위해 수행하였다.

니켈수소전지용 수산화니켈 입자의 표면처리와 전해액 첨가제 LiOH의 전기화학적 거동 (Electrochemical Behaviors of the Surface-Treated Nickel Hydroxide Powder and Electrolyte Additive LiGH for Ni-MH Batteries)

  • 본 논문은 니켈수소전지의 양극 재료인 수산화니켈의 단일 입자 및 코발트 금속산화물에 의해 표면처리 된 수산화니켈 단일 입자에 대해 각각 알카리 전해액 중의 LiOH 첨가 효과를 마이크로전극 측정시스템을 사용하여 평가하였다. 전위 주사법에 의해 실험한 결과, 수산화니켈 입자에 대한 산화환원 반응과 산소발생 반응에 대한 전기화학적 거동을 보다 명확히 확인 할 수 있었다. 특히, LiOH 첨가에 의해 관찰되는 특징적인 변화는 환원전류 피크가 매우 낮고 브로드하게 반응하는 것으로서, LiOH가 수산화니켈 입자의 격정 구조에 영향을 주어 전기화학적 반응특성에 관여함을 알 수 있다. 그러나 표면 개질 하지 않는 수산화니켈 입자에 LiOH를 첨가 할 경우 용량 및 사이클 특성이 동시에 저하하는 경향을 의였다. 그러나 코발트 금속 산화물로 표면 개질 한 수산화니켈 입자의 경우, LiOH 첨가에 의해 용량 및 싸이클 특성이 향상되는 현상이 관찰 되었다.

  • 폐알칼리망간전지 분말에 대한 $Ni^{2+}$의 흡착 거동을 살펴보기 위하여 흡착제의 양, 홉착질의 초기농도 및 반응온도를 변화시켜 가며 그 특성을 조사하였다. $Ni^{2+}$의 흡착반응은 유사이차반응속도를 잘 따르는 것을 알 수 있었으며 $Ni^{2+}$의 초기농도가 증가함에 따라 유사이차반응속도상수($k_2$)는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 흡착평형을 표현하는데 널리 이용되는 Langmuir와 Freundlich 흡착 모델에 평형흡착 결과를 적용하였으며 Freundlich isotherm모델에 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 반응온도가 증가함에 따라 평형흡착량이 증가하여 흡착반응은 흡열반응의 양상을 보였으며 온도의 변화에 대한 실험결과로부터 ${\Delta}H^{\circ},\;{\Delta}G^{\circ}$ 그리고 ${\Delta}S^{\circ}$ 열역학적 변수를 도출하였다.

  • For more than a decade components of low alloy iron powder with nickel and/or molybdenum for general engineering applications have been manufactured from powder metal. In the time to come such PM steel components will gain increasing significance. Because of various manufacturing difficulties they are mostly produced in two separate steps - sintering and hardening - which means high energy and labour requirements. The paper describes how such PM components are produced in just one run through a conveyor belt furnace with automatic atmosphere control and gas quenching zone. Energy and labour costs are low and reproducible quality is exceilent. The mechanical properties obtained with some powder alloys are presented as well.

다중벽 탄소나노튜브와 니켈 분말을 포함하는 전도성 복합체 제조 (Preparation of Electrically Conductive Composites Filled with Nickel Powder and MWCNT Fillers)

  • 본 연구에서는 Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube (MWCNT)와 니켈 분말을 포함하는 전기 전도성 복합체를 제조하여 물성을 비교하였다. 복합체 제조에 앞서, MWCNT 표면을 개질하여 카르복실기(-COOH)와 아미노기($-NH_2$)를 도입하였으며, 표면 개질 혹은 개질되지 않은 MWCNT와 니켈 분말을 diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA)에 분산하여 전기 전도성 복합체를 제조하였다. 그리고 triethylenetetramine (TETA)를 경화제로 사용하여 전도성 복합체와 혼합한 후, doctor blade법으로 코팅하여 전기전도성 변화를 측정하였다. MWCNT의 표면 개질 여부와 에폭시 수지와의 반응여부는 fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) 및 elemental analyzer (EA)로 확인하였으며, 복합체의 표면 형상은 scanning electron microscope (SEM), 복합체의 면 저항 값은 4-point probe로 측정하였다. 그 결과 아미노기로 표면 개질한 MWCNT 0.5 wt%와 40%의 니켈 분말을 사용하여 제조한 복합체의 면 저항 값은 $(9.87{\pm}1.09){\times}10^4{\Omega}/sq$로 니켈 분말만 53.3% 사용하여 제조한 복합체의 면 저항 값과 유사한 값을 나타내었다. 따라서, 0.5%의 아미노기로 개질된 MWCNT를 포함하는 전도성 복합체는 순수 니켈 분말만 사용하는 복합체보다 13.3%의 니켈 분말 함량을 감소할 수 있음을 알았다.

Effects of Tungsten Particle Size and Nickel Addition in DC arc Resistance of Cu-W Electrode

  • The performance of copper-tungsten for electrodes used in an ultra high voltage interruption system was evaluated by means of an interruption test, which requires a large-scale apparatus and high cost. In this study, prior to the interruption test, the characteristics of a Cu-W electrode were estimated through the DC arc test, which is a simple, low cost procedure. The DC arc characteristics of a 20wt%Cu-80wt%W electrode were investigated with the change of tungsten powder size distribution and the addition of nickel. In specimens containing a high volume fraction of large sized tungsten particles, the relative density and hardness of sintered Cu-W electrodes increased while the electrical conductivity and the DC arc resistance decreased. Furthermore, the relative density became enhanced with the increase of the amount of nickel while the hardness and electrical conductivity diminished and the DC arc resistance worsened.

초내열합금 HIP 성형을 위한 금형설계 (Die design for HIP'ing of Nickel-base Superalloys)

  • Nickel base superalloys are widely used for high temperature applications due to heat resisting capability and corrosion resistance at high temperatures. Superalloys with many strengthening alloying elements are frequently used in powder form to alleviate harmful effects of alloy segregation. HIP (hot isostatic pressing) and DB (diffusion bonding) as a form of solid-state bonding process is used to make turbine components, such as integrated turbine rotors. HIP/DB process requires many technical overcomes related to dimensional changes as well as microstructural control. In this research, HIP/DB process for nickel base superalloys, Udimet 720 and MM 247, were investigated with a view to control the dimensional change during the consolidation process. Simple disc-shaped cans were used to select the conceptual die design for the control of the dimensional change especially in radial direction. The change in the shape of consolidated shape was investigated using commercial FE code with constitutive equations fur low temperature plasticity deformation.
