  • Recently, as the demand for limited resources continues to rise and problems of resource depletion rise worldwide, the importance of renewable energy is gradually increasing. In order to solve these problems, various methods such as energy conservation and alternative energy development have been suggested, and biogas, which can utilize the gas produced from biomass as fuel, is also receiving attention as the next generation of innovative renewable energy. New and renewable energy using biogas is an energy production method that is expected to be possible in large scale because it can supply energy with high efficiency in compliance with energy supply method of recycling conventional resources. In order to more efficiently produce and manage these biogas, a biogas plant has emerged. In recent years, a large number of biogas plants have been installed and operated in various locations. Organic wastes corresponding to biogas production resources in a biogas plant exist in a wide variety of types, and each of the incoming raw materials is processed in different processes. Because such a process is required, the case where the biogas plant process is inefficiently operated is continuously occurring, and the economic cost consumed for the operation of the biogas production relative to the generated biogas production is further increased. In order to solve such problems, various attempts such as process analysis and feedback based on the feedstock have been continued but it is a passive method and very limited to operate a medium/large scale biogas plant. In this paper, we propose "CNN-based production yield prediction algorithm for increasing process efficiency of biogas plant" for efficient operation of biogas plant process. Based on CNN-based production yield forecasting, which is one of the deep-leaning technologies, it enables mechanical analysis of the process operation process and provides a solution for optimal process operation due to process-related accumulated data analyzed by the automated process.

  • Mobility management of the mobile nodes and provision of seamless handover is crucial to an efficient support for the global roaming of the mobile nodes in next-generation wireless networks. Mobile IPv6 and mobility management in extended IP layer, which highly depend on traffic characteristics and user mobility models, were proposed by the IETF. Therefore, to evaluate the in-depth performance about these factors is important. Generally, the performance of IPv6-based mobility management protocol is evaluated through simulation. This paper shows the correlation between network parameters and performance metrics through numerical results, which is investigated how influence handoff latency and packet loss. And this paper uses mathematical analysis of the system parameters, such as the subnet residence time, the packet arrival rate and delay in wireless connection through the analytical framework which evaluate the performance of IPv6-based mobility management protocol.

  • With the rapid development of the Internet of Things(IoT) technology recently, multi-access edge computing(MEC) is emerged as a next-generation technology for real-time and high-performance services. High mobility of users between MECs with limited service areas is considered one of the issues in the MEC environment. In this paper, we consider a vehicle edge computing(VEC) environment which has a high mobility, and propose a task migration algorithm to decide whether or not to migrate and where to migrate using DQN, as a reinforcement learning method. The objective of the proposed algorithm is to improve the system throughput while satisfying QoS(Quality of Service) requirements by minimizing the difference between queueing delays in vehicle edge computing servers(VECSs). The results show that compared to other algorithms, the proposed algorithm achieves approximately 14-49% better QoS satisfaction and approximately 14-38% lower service blocking rate.

  • Analyzing next-generation genome sequencing data in a conventional way using single server may take several tens of hours depending on the data size. However, in order to cope with emergency situations where the results need to be known within a few hours, it is required to improve the performance of a single genome analysis. In this paper, we propose a parallelized method for pre-processing genome sequence data which can reduce the analysis time by utilizing the big data technology and the highperformance computing cluster which is connected to the high-speed network and shares the parallel file system. For the reliability of analytical data, we have chosen a strategy to parallelize the existing analytical tools and algorithms to the new environment. Parallelized processing, data distribution, and parallel merging techniques have been developed and performance improvements have been confirmed through experiments.

  • With the recent development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the convergence of vehicles and IT technologies, high-performance applications such as autonomous driving are emerging, and multi-access edge computing (MEC) has attracted lots of attentions as next-generation technologies. In order to provide service to these computation-intensive tasks in low latency, many methods have been proposed to partition tasks so that they can be performed through cooperation of multiple MEC servers(MECSs). Conventional methods related to task partitioning have proposed methods for partitioning tasks on vehicles as mobile devices and offloading them to multiple MECSs, and methods for offloading them from vehicles to MECSs and then partitioning and migrating them to other MECSs. In this paper, the performance of task partitioning methods using offloading and migration is compared and analyzed in terms of service delay, blocking rate and energy consumption according to the method of selecting partitioning targets and the number of partitioning. As the number of partitioning increases, the performance of the service delay improves, but the performance of the blocking rate and energy consumption decreases.

  • TBM disc cutter, which is the main cutting tool of tunnel boring machine (TBM), is replaced when it is excessively worn during the boring process. Disc cutters are usually monitored by workers at cutterhead chamber, and they check the status and wear amount of cutters. Because cutterhead chamber is usually in dangerous circumstance due to high pressure and instability of excavation surface, the measurement by manpower occasionally results in inaccuracy of measurement result. In order to overcome the limitations, the real-time disc cutter monitoring techniques have been developed in some foreign countries. This paper collected the current status of disc cutter monitoring system from the literature. Several types of sensors are used to measure the cutter wear, and it is believed that the collected information can be useful reference when similar domestic technologies are developed in the future.

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) is to assumed to be one of next generation technology which determine technological competitiveness and strategic advantage of a certain country. By using the patent data, this study aims to have a comparative analysis of the technological competitiveness of evolving artificial intelligence at different stages of development among the five largest intellectual property offices in the world (IP5). For the analysis data, all AI technology patent data from 1956 to 2019 were utilized according to the classification system presented in the "WIPO 2019 Technology Trend: Artificial Intelligence" report published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2019. The results shows that China has already surpassed the United States in terms of the number of patent applications in the field of artificial intelligence technology. However, in the domains of the United States, Europe, Japan, and Korea, the technology competitiveness of the United States is far ahead of China. Interestingly, the rate of increase of Korea's technology competitiveness is also very fast, and it has been shown that the technology strength is ahead of China in non-Chinese domains. The significance of this study can be found in the fact that the temporal and spatial change process of technological competitiveness of significant countries in the field of artificial intelligence technology artificial intelligence was viewed as a macro-framework using the technology index (TS) the differences were compared.

  • Bacterial leaf blight of carrots caused by Xanthomonas hortorum pv. carotae (Xhc) is an important worldwide seed-borne disease. In 2012 and 2013, symptoms similar to bacterial leaf blight were found in carrot farms in Jeju Island, Korea. The phenotypic characteristics of the Korean isolation strains were similar to the type strain of Xhc. Pathogenicity showed symptoms on the 14th day after inoculation on carrot plants. Identification by genetic method was multi-position sequencing of the isolated strain JJ2001 was performed using four genes (danK, gyrB, fyuA, and rpoD). The isolated strain was confirmed to be most similar to Xhc M081. Furthermore, in order to analyze the genetic characteristics of the isolated strain, whole genome analysis was performed through the next-generation sequencing method. The draft genome size of JJ2001 is 5,443,372 bp, which contains 63.57% of G + C and has 4,547 open reading frames. Specifically, the classification of pathovar can be confirmed to be similar to that of the host lineage. Plant pathogenic factors and determinants of the majority of the secretion system are conserved in strain JJ2001. This genetic information enables detailed comparative analysis in the pathovar stage of pathogenic bacteria. Furthermore, these findings provide basic data for the distribution and diagnosis of Xanthomonas hortorum pv. carotae, a major plant pathogen that infects carrots in Korea.
