  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of perceived fit and brand transfer on extension evaluation in luxury fashion brands. The instrument for this research was a self-administered questionnaire based on a previously developed scale. The variables addressed in this scale included perceived fit, brand value for both parent brand (clothing) and extension brand (home line), extension brand association, and purchase intention of the product in extension brands. The participants in this research comprised of 215 female consumers between the ages of 19 and 51 demographically distributed nationwide. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired t-test, factor analysis, and regression analysis via SPSS 12.0. Findings showed that brand value consisted of two factors: cognitive and hedonic value in luxury fashion brands. Parent brand value was significantly related to perceived fit with a positive effect on brand association and hedonic value in extension brands. With respect to brand transfer, cognitive value of the parent brand increased the extension brand's cognitive value, while hedonic value of the parent brand increased the extension brand's hedonic value. In addition, purchase intention of the product in the extension brands was determined by the perceived fit and hedonic value of extension brands. This study also discusses the managerial implications for marketers in developing effective luxury brand extensions into new product categories, which leads to a synergy effect in building brand equity in the luxury fashion market.

  • Brand orientation is a relatively new paradigm in marketing which was first introduced in the 1990s. Since then, an accumulating body of research has addressed the strategic importance of brand orientation. Although there is a growing body of literature on brand orientation, there have been no empirical studies examining the mediation effect of brand orientation on market orientation-performance relationship to date. Moreover, most studies on brand orientation have been carried out in the context of large enterprises. Hence, the aim of this research is to extend the literature and address market orientation, brand orientation, and firm performance against the backdrop of Korean SMEs. The authors empirically investigate the impact of market/brand orientation on organizational performance and the mediating role of brand orientation. They utilize 178 usable responses to test the four research hypotheses. The hypothesized model predicts that there is a positive association among market orientation, brand orientation, and firm performance. It is also expected that brand orientation mediates the relationship between market orientation and organizational performance. The statistical results based on PLS analysis confirm our prediction among the constructs in the research model. The empirical evidence provides significant theoretical and managerial implications for brand orientation among SMEs. The first theoretical implication is that we provide empirical evidence regarding the important role of brand orientation in explaining the multi-trait perspectives of strategic orientation. The second theoretical implication is that the concept of brand orientation can be empirically validated in the context of SMEs. In terms of managerial implications, managers of SMEs should attempt to build a brand-oriented corporate culture or mindset that places brand values and brand norms as the top priority among their company's tasks. In addition, managers should recognize that brand orientation is critical for SMEs as well as large enterprises. In the last section, the authors address limitations of the study and provide directions for further research.

A descriptive survey method using a self-administered questionnaire was employed. In particular, in the case of sunscreen, as compared to other products, the customer shopping orientation should be considered from more diverse perspectives in order to formulate effective marketing strategies related to brand switching. In light of these results, customer shopping orientation with respect to cosmeceuticals is a variable that influences the cause brand switching. Therefore, differentiated marketing strategies that reflect the different characteristics of shopping orientation according to each item of cosmeceuticals are recommended to improve the satisfaction level of the companies' target market. • In the past 10 years, the luxury goods market growth has significantly outpaced other consumer goods categories. Its market value exceeded US $1.2 trillion globally in 2018. In response to this significant consumer demand, the product portfolio of luxury brands has been modified, as several products that previously were exclusive have now released lower-priced versions. This phenomenon is called new luxury. These new luxury products, however, have caused the democratization of the luxury that threatens the exclusivity of luxury brands. In this circumstance, luxury consumers are becoming disillusioned with the vulgarization of luxury goods and prefer exclusive luxury experiences. In order to keep pace with the changes in the luxury consumer needs and promote the brand image with a creative and luxurious connotation, luxury brands are increasingly associating with contemporary art through diverse channels. However, there is a lack of theoretical research investigating the main points to be considered when applying contemporary art to luxury brands and attempting effective brand communication. Therefore, this study aims to provide insights into the key issues for luxury brands when applying contemporary art for effective brand communication. An in-depth case study with the luxury fashion brand, Louis Vuitton, was carried out to better understand contemporary art applications and obtain analytical insights. Through the research, key insights were identified as follows: 1) setting a clear objective for art application based on an in-depth understanding for both the art and the luxury brand, 2) sending harmonized and coherent messages from all perspectives by using a variety of different communication channels, 3) providing a meaningful customer experience by considering the characteristics of contemporary art.

  • Bundling has become a general promotion strategy in mobile shopping context. Previous research on bundling has mostly focused on bundle frame or price frame. Even though consumers are searching and purchasing the product in mobile channels, little research has investigated the effects of bundling in mobile shopping. The objectives of this study is to examine how different product image of bundle affects consumer's perception and purchase intention differently, and how brand familiarity moderate this influence. A sample of 140 subjects participated in a within-subjects experiment. A bundling composed of two different product image (a single product vs. bundled products) was evaluated by individuals. Brand familiarity (familiar brand vs. unfamiliar brand) were manipulated to test a set of hypotheses. We found that the effectiveness of bundling does not depend on the type of product image and brand familiarity. The findings of our study provide some implications for researchers and marketers. Although there have been studies on the effects of bundle framing on consumer behavior, we suggest new insights regarding bundling based on product image and mobile shopping context.

Along with this, companies can further increase their positive effects by developing representative brand image contents. Fifth, this study confirmed that the higher the image level of the manufacturing country in a situation where consumers' preferences are diversifying, the more the brand image leads to consumers' purchasing decisions. Therefore, brand managers are required to build a country image suitable for the existing brand image when advertising at the time of product introduction.

  • With science and technology getting more and more advanced, the scope of digital product is expanding and the new products continuously are introduced on the market. On the basis of consumers' attachment to products, we investigated the consumers' behaviors towards the product when a digital product is extended. As a result of an empirical analysis, it turned out that a consumer tended to have higher trust and a positive emotion about relevant goods if he or she had a strong attachment to digital products. However, even though one had a strong attachment to digital products, the emotion about the corresponding brands did not necessarily appeared to be positive. In the event that a brand of digital products was extended to other new products, only the trust in the brand exerted significant influence on the consumers' behaviors towards the extended products. Finally, this study suggests some theoretical and managerial implications for effective strategies in response to customers' attachment to digital product.
