  • Yard cranes are very useful equipments for handling of heavy containers. But rope-driven yard cranes must have a little of sway and skew motion because ropes arc passive mechanical device. So many researches have been concentrated on anti-sway algorithm controlling trolley speed. But control algorithm of trolley speed is not practical in windy weather. In this paper, we are going to propose a new structure for anti-sway. This structure uses aux. :opes. The control strategy with auxiliary rope is very useful to sway control of yard crane because rope length is shorter than quay-sidc container cranes. In this paper, we derive cquatlons of motion of trolley system which have anti-sway controller to use auxiliary rope. And we propose the control strategy and analyse the behavior of the proposed system.

  • This paper proposes a new auxiliary resonant DC link(ARDCL)snubber circuit and deals with its power loss on the basis of actually-measured conduction loss characteristic of switching device module. Voltage-ed soft switching three-phase inverter using proposed ARDCL snubber circuit is presented along with its performance evaluations. And, the power loss analysis of three-phase hard and soft switching inverter are carried out from the point of simulation and experimental results.

  • A large volume of work has been attempted to improve the separation efficiency of cyclone by establishing new design and optimum operation. An auxiliary device called Post Cyclone (PoC) has been introduced and tested in an earlier work (In order to reduce the emission of fine dust from the reverse flow cyclones). This work applies the PoC to remove the dust and gaseous elements using a centrifugal effect remained in the discharging flow over the cyclone. As a result of the experiment, the efficiency was found best at the high gas concentration and low inlet velocity.

  • We propose a new PDP cell structure named DIDE (Dual Ignition Discharge Electrodes) structure with a long electrode gap to realize a high luminous efficacy. Suggested DIDE structure basically has a long electrode gap $(200{\mu}m{\sim}400{\mu}m)$, nevertheless, because of auxiliary electrodes formed on the front panel, can be driven at relatively low voltage. The discharge characteristic of DIDE structure was much different from that of conventional structure, which was analyzed by IR emission images using IICCD (Image Intensified Charge Coupled Device). The study can explain some particular characteristics of DIDE structure. As a result, the long electrode gap and low voltage effect can be expected in DIDE structure, and a very high luminous efficacy of 7.5 lm/W has been achieved in monochrome green test panel adopting the new cell structure with Ne-Xe (12%) mixture at 400 torr.

  • HEP(Head Electric Power) system, supplying 3-phase service power to the coach vehicles, is a kind of special auxiliary power equipment which is boarded on 8200 series electric locomotives in KORAIL. This equipment shares high voltage DC link with a main propulsion converter/inverter systems. It was difficult to use high frequency PWM technique so that GTO has been used as a power device same like the main power system. Due to low PWM frequency(300Hz) of HEP inverter, the output voltage has less power quality comparing to normal SIV(Static Inverter) system. In this paper, an optimal PWM strategy is presented for new IGBT type HEP inverter system. Several PWM techniques were investigated to improve output voltage quality under fixed lower filter inductance and not high PWM frequency. Finally PC simulations have been done to clarify its availability.

  • 국외의 재활보조기기 추세를 분석하였다. 접어지는 기능이 강화되고, 기존의 동력이 없는 장치에 전동구동 보조모듈이 추가되고, 전반적인 보조기기의 완성도가 향상되고 있다. 특히, 접어지는 기능을 포함한 휴대 및 보관하기 용이한 이동 보조기기가 증가하고 있다. 동력 보조 휠 및 상지보조 모듈이 시장에 진입하고 있다. 상대적으로 성숙된 최신기술을 적용한 신개념의 휠체어가 시장이 나오고 있다. 최신 로봇기술을 응용한 하지 외골격 로봇이 경쟁체제에 돌입하였다. 기립형 휠체어, 경사로, 간단한 계단 이동보조장치가 보편화 되고 있다. 보조기기와 다양한 스마트기기가 결합되고 있다. 이외에도 멋진 디자인, 소재, 가공기술 등에 의한 완성도가 제고 되고 있다.

  • In this paper, a new simplified configuration for a multi-level PWM inverter is proposed. The proposed inverter consists of an auxiliary circuit with one switching device, and 3 phase full-bridge inverter. The proposed inverter, in spite of reduction of the switching devices, offers characteristics similar to the NPC(Neutral - point - clamped)- PWM inverter. Also, since the reduction of the switching devices, the control strategy is simplified. And switching loss is reduced. In addition to, it is possible that reliable DC level voltage than former multi-level inverter. And load power application is same to conventional NPC-PWM inverter. The performance of the system is verified by simulation. In this paper, show the simulation result of the single phase full bridge inverter application.

Self-Feeder Driver for Voltage Balance in Series-Connected IGBT Associations

  • The emergence of high voltage conversion applications has resulted in a trend of using semiconductor device series associations. Series associations allow for operation at blocking voltages, which are higher than the nominal voltage for each of the semiconductor devices. The main challenge with these topologies is finding a way to guarantee the voltage balance between devices in both blocking and switching transients. Most of the methods that have been proposed to mitigate static and dynamic voltage unbalances result in increased losses within the device. This paper introduces a new series stack topology, where the voltage unbalances are reduced. This in turn, mitigates the switching losses. The proposed topology consists of a circuit that ensures the soft switching of each device, and one auxiliary circuit that allows for switching energy recovery. The principle for the topology operation is presented and experimental tests are performed for two modules. The topology performs excellently for switching transients on each of the devices. The voltage static unbalances were limited to 10%, while the activation/deactivation delay introduced by the lower module IGBT driver takes place in the dynamic unbalances. Thus, the switching losses are reduced by 40%, when compared to hard switching configurations.

  • In a high speed train, OBCS(On-Board Computer System) is a up-to-date computer control system that provide controlling, monitoring, maintaining and reparing of the important device, supporting a driver, status of a train, service maintenance, managing the remote control mode, driving order & control, control of a electrical or pneumatic circuit and a passenger service. In general, OBCS is located in each car but in a power car, both main and auxiliary computers are used. These avoid a network collision and maintain the independence of condition and failure records with the information of line number, train number and car number. This paper is intended to provide the information about the identification coding method of domestic and foreign OBCS, for the new high speed train (KTX-II).

  • A single phase induction motor (SPIM) rated in fractional horsepower is widely used in home and industrial equipment: washing machines, fans, refrigerators, etc. In this paper, authors present the experimental results of the SPIM under controlling of currents of main and auxiliary windings by using a one-chip micro stator(OMS). This new starting method is developed to replace the conventional starting device consisted with a mechanical switch and a capacitor. In mentioned method, the soft-starting of SPIM is simply implemented and higher efficiency is obtained in comparison with conventional condenser type SPIM.
