  • Currently smart textile market is rapidly expanding and the demand is increasing integration of an electronic fiber circuit. The garments are an attractive platform for wearable device. This is one of the integration techniques, which consists of is the selective introduction of conductive yarns into the fabric through knitting, weaving or embroidering. The aim of this work is to develop a golf bend driven prototype design for an attachable Arduino that can be used to assess elbow motion. The process begins with the development of a wearable device technique that uses conductive yarn and flex sensor for measurement of elbow bending movements. Also this paper describes and discusses resistance value of zigzag embroidery of the conductive yarns on the tensile properties of the fabrics. Furthermore, by forming a circuit using an Arduino and flex sensor the prototype was created with an assistance band for golf posture training. This study provides valuable information to those interested in the future directions of the smart fashion industry.

  • New materials are being considered for insulator of railroad vehicles. Because people want more environmental material than glass fiber, there are certain needs of finding safe and economical insulating material. We checked the flammability of some kinds insulators such as PE foam, neoprene rubber foam. melamine foam and glass fiber. You could find out the characteristics such as oxygen index. optical smoke density, toxicity index of that insulators.

  • Gangway bellows in this study is the double wrinkled neoprene rubber component to accept various deviations between the carriage end parts of the articulated type high speed railway vehicle(HSRV). The fatigue failure of the bellows has a harmful effect on the riding comfort for the passengers with the increase of noise and ringing in the ears due to air-tightness failure during pass through a long tunnel. In this study, to assure the safety of gangway bellows of the HSRV, non-linear analysis of the gangway bellows considering triaxial angular displacement(rolling /yawing/pitching) between the carriage end parts are performed. The non-linear properties of the rubber are determined by uniaxial tension and equi-biaxial tension test. Moreover, from the results of non-linear analysis, the effects of the angular displacements and frictional coefficients are evaluated.

  • The Peking Opera is one of the most representative cultural aspects of China. It includes China's traditional specialties, such as stage performance, stage background, and costumes. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characters and the costume characteristics of the Peking Opera to present fashion design. This research is meaningful for spreading the Peking Opera to the world by applying China's traditional costumes to fashion design. Based on the cultural background of the Peking Opera and the analysis of the opera costume, four sets of women's clothes were made by using the traditional Chinese elements. The conclusions are as follows. First, traditional features such as patterns, colors, and styles from Peking Opera costumes were used in fashion design. The colors and patterns use Chinese traditional aesthetics to carry out contemporary fashion design and apply creative materials. Second, the neoprene used to create the items is a material suitable for the modern design of the traditional Peking Opera costumes. Neoprene has good elasticity and can be cut and sewn in a variety of ways. It can also satisfy the three-dimensional atmosphere and rich morphological changes found in Peking Opera costumes. In addition, a combination of thin chiffon and mesh materials is also suitable for the development of modern designs. Finally, in order to show the effects of traditional works, the patterns were finished by hand-painting. The hand-painted works were then scanned and printed on the material by the digital printing techniques. At the conclusion, the traditional features and feelings of the contemporary designs were presented.

Study on the wetsuit manufacturing status in Korea and future research task (국내 습식 잠수복 생산 업체의 생산실태 조사 및 향후 연구과제)

  • The present study examines the overall manufacturing status of local wetsuit makers, problems in the manufacturing process, and future research tasks. The study revealed that most manufacturers use neoprene fabric of varying thickness, depending on the body part. Normally, 3 mm-thick fabric is utilized for high-activity body parts and 5 mm-thick fabric is used for high-activity areas requiring thermal insulation. In terms of the manufacturing method, the tools and manufacturing processes used by companies were found to be similar. However, because of the nature of wetsuits requiring a more complicated manufacturing method than that of general clothing, there were some differences in the manufacturing method processes from company to company, such as bonding and ease treatments. According to wetsuit manufacturers, they make incisions in consideration of the body's curvature and the overall shape and design of the wetsuit when developing patterns. For example, most answered that they preform the wrist and ankle parts, where the body's curvature is obvious. On the question regarding the "difficult manufacturing process", the most frequent response was the "bonding" process. Most manufacturers were found to focus on designs that can improve mobility and clothing fit, and commonly experienced low-order quantity as an operational difficulty. As for the question on the wetsuit-related technology needed in the future, the "development of various designs" was the most frequent answer, followed by the "development of lightweight and diverse materials".

Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Turbulent Wall Pressure Fluctuation Over Compliant Coatings (유연재 코팅 평판의 난류 변동압력 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Turbulent boundary layer over an underwater vehicle is formed when it moves underwater and wall pressure fluctuation within the turbulent boundary layer generates flow-induced noise by exciting the elastic hull of the underwater vehicle. One of the methods to reduce this flow noise is to attach a compliant layer on the surface of the vehicle. In order to observe the possibility of noise reduction in the water when the compliant layer treatments are applied on the surface, three types of specimens those are a bare steel plate, a steel plate coated with neoprene and a steel plate with polyurethane coating material are tested at various flow speeds in a low noise cavitation tunnel. This paper presents the results of measurements and analysis of wall pressure fluctuations which is a main source of flow noise, within the turbulent boundary layer on three specimens. Its results could be shown that about 10dB reduction of wall fluctuation pressure at high frequencies was achieved due to the dissipation of turbulent energy by the compliant coating while it makes the turbulent boundary layer thicker and changes the behavior of turbulent flow in the layer.

  • By employing the vinylite-and neoprene latex-corrosion technique, ramification and arrangement of A. renalis were observed in fifty Korean native goats (100 kidneys). The obtained results were as follows: 1. A single renal artery, arising on each side from abdominal aorta, bifurcated into Ramus dorsalis and Ramus ventralis from which 3~6 segmental arteries originated. 2. The dorsal and ventral surfaces of the kidney were divided separately into 3~6 arterial segments by the running of the segmental artery into the parenchyma. Of them four segments were mostly frequent (in 77% of right kidney and 83% of left). 3. In 25 of all the kidneys, either dorsal or ventral surface of a kidney was supplied from interlobar or segmental arteries belong to the opposite Ramus. 4. In 3 goats, A. polaris superior was observed. 5. Generally, distribution of the renal artery of Korean native goat resembled that of the dog.

  • 韓國在來山羊 50마리의 賢靜脈에 vinylite 및 neoprene latex를 주입하여 주형표본법으로 賢靜脈의 分布狀態를 觀察하여 다음과 같은 成績을 얻었다. 1. 葉間靜脈 1$\\sim$3 個가 合流하여 區域靜脈을 이루고, 賢靜脈은 2$\\sim$3 個의 賢靜脈枝들이 모여서 이루어 졌다. 2, 賢靜脈이 2個의 靜脈枝로서 構成되는 경우는 背 $\\cdot$ 腹枝(Rami dorsalis et ventralis)와 前 $\\cdot$ 後枝(Rami cranialis et caudalis)로 되는 2鍾이 있었고, 3個의 靜脈枝로 構成되는 경우는 背 $\\cdot$ 中 $\\cdot$ 腹枝(Rami dorsalis, medius, and ventralis)와 前 $\\cdot$ 中 $\\cdot$ 後枝(Rami cranialis, medius and caudalis)로 되는 2鍾이 있었다. 3. 賢臟의 靜脈性區域은 背面과 腹面에 각각 2$\\sim$4個였다. 4. 賢臟의 前端 및 後端 또는 前後兩端에서 背面과 腹面이 共同區域을 형성하는 경우도 있었다. 5. 極靜脈의 출현은 없었고, 左 $\\cdot$ 右賢靜脈이 각각 한가지로서 後大靜脈에 合流되고 있었다.

  • With the recent rapid growth in the number of people who enjoy marine and leisure activities in Korea, the marine leisure industry faces good opportunities for development. Korean brands are in between them. In this situation, new and innovative products related to an inflatable tube, which is one of the most popular marine leisure items, will help to increase sales of domestic companies and to pioneer a new market. Research methods are largely divided into 4: investigation, analysis & synthesis, development and evaluation. This paper introduces a "tube cushion" which is an inflatable tube covered by fabrics. It can be functioned at home 365 days a year as a cushion or a children's plaything. Tactile fabrics, neoprene and air-mesh, are used as the cover with a zipper, making it easy to open and close. Moreover, by putting together tubes and connecting them with snap fastener attached straps, the cushion can be transformed into a chair, a table, a tunnel, a train, and so on, serving as a creative plaything for children. With this paper, it is expected that new and innovative items differentiated from others, like this crossover tube cushion, will help to create a 'Blue Ocean' market for the marine leisure industry from the long-term perspective.
