  • In order to cope with the problems that may occur when the natural gas used in Korea becomes low in calories, the problems that may have to the domestic industrial gas equipment must be identified in advance, and based on this, countermeasures for efficient use of energy must be preceded. In this study, in order to solve the problem of deterioration of engine output performance and efficiency due to the introduction of low calorific gas when using a lean-burning natural gas engine that complies with the EURO-6 regulation, specific control plans and results based on the experiment are intended to be presented. In order to identify the improvement effect by the control variable represented by the ignition timing under the full load condition at the engine speed of 1,400 rpm and 550 Nm, 2,100 rpm, which is the engine speed at the rated operation condition, the thermal efficiency and exhaust gas characteristics were identified and optimized by changing the ignition timing for each gas fuel. In the case of pure methane, which shows the lowest value based on the torque under the full load condition, if the ignition timing is advanced by about 2 CAD from the reference ignition timing, the torque can be compensated without a large increase in NOx emission.

  • To suggest implications of future housing problems, this study investigates which characteristics affect the housing satisfaction of young single households. Using the survey data, we perform the multiple regression and decision tree models based on the SPSS Statistics 25.0. Our empirical results show several key features. First, housing characteristics and intention to continue single households had a positive (+) effect on housing satisfaction, in the order of natural, housing, physical characteristics, and intention to continue single households. Second, housing characteristics and intention to marry in the future had a positive (+) effect on housing satisfaction in the order of natural, housing, and physical characteristics. Third, housing characteristics and intention to increase household members in the future had a positive (+) effect on housing satisfaction, in the order of natural, housing, and physical characteristics satisfaction. Finally, the results of the decision tree model show that the natural characteristics were over 3.4, and housing satisfaction was the highest in the case of Jeonse. The results of this study provide three implications for policymakers. First, improving the residential environment of young single households is important. Second, providing customized housing for young single households could enhance the housing satisfaction of young people. Finally, housing provision needs to be carried out with suitable space for the lifestyle of young single households.

  • The purpose of this study is to research the religious-ethical meaning of the scripture (Jeongyung, 典經) of Daesoonjinrihoe, one of religious orders in Korea. It is 'the reorganizing in the order of heaven and earth' (ROHE, 天地公事)that the believers of Daesoonjinrihoe regard as the essence and basis of their religious belief in Jeongyung, and so I focus on it in this paper. And I have applied the method of religious ethics that recognize the relation religion and morality for understanding religious-ethical meaning of moral principles and norms. In the process of this study I have selected a lot of moral principles, norms and activities in ROHE, and sorted them with their social context of ROHE. In this research I have found some characteristics of ethical norms in the ROHE according to three divisions of ethical category such as personal, social and natural ethics. The understanding of mind is an important point of personal ethic in the ROHE. The mind is understood as the subject and object of personal ethical attitude and volition. So one could have ethical attitude by oneself with mind as subject, and reflect and correct on his ethical faults with the mind as ethical object. The distinctiveness of social ethic in the ROHE is special concerns to the weak at that time such as sick person, illegitimate children, shamans, farmhands and etc. This is a logical consequence of the ethical altruism of the ethic of mutual beneficence(相生) and the dignity of human(人尊) in ROHE. And the ethics of mutual beneficence is applied to natural ethic of ROHE. Since natural world including all sort of plants and animals is intimately related to the human worlds, so it is a desirable attitude for to accommodate to the changes of nature. Even if these characteristics of ethics in ROHE are justified by the religious beliefs, the norms from them are available in our religious pluralistic societies, since they have common ethical values of other religious ethics. It is my concluding remark that religious orders or denominations have to offer a lot of moral norms suitable to religious pluralistic situation. Because it is needed for our society to conquer various sort and kind conflicts among religions, and to act harmoniously together for public peace.

  • Electronic components for space launch vehicles are exposed to a severe vibrational environment at launch and flight. The structural reliability of each component can be verified using mathematical approaches. In order to verify the structural reliability, an important parameter is the natural frequency of PCB(Printed Circuit Board) assembly mounted electronic components on and housing mounted PCB assembly in. In this paper, in order to find natural frequencies of PCB assemblies and the housing of hydrazine TCU(Thruster Control Unit), FEM(Finite Element Method) is adapted. The analytical result of FEM is verified by experimental method.

  • A semi-submersible drilling rig is regarded as one of the typical offshore structures operated in the field with moderate environments such as the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, and West Africa. Its typical roll and pitch natural periods are around 30 seconds, which avoids prevailing regions of the wave energy spectrum, and their responses in waves are quite acceptable for common operation conditions. But large roll and pitch motions can be induced by wave difference frequency energy spectrum if the metacentric heights of a semi-submersible decrease to small values in some loading conditions, and it is because the roll and pitch natural periods increase and approach to the region where the spectral density of the low frequency wave drift moment has significant value. This paper describes the low frequency roll motion of a semi-submersible that are excited by the wave 2nd order difference frequency energy by a series of model experiments. From the model tests with several different initial metacentric heights (GM), it was observed that a semi-submersible can experience large roll motion due to the wave group spectrum.

  • The aim of this present research is the effect of the higher-order terms of the governing equation on the forced longitudinal vibration of a nanorod model and making comparisons of the results with classical nonlocal elasticity theory. For this purpose, the free axial vibration along with forced one under the two various linear and harmonic axial concentrated forces in zigzag Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube (SWCNT) are analyzed dynamically. Three various theories containing the classical theory, which is called Eringen's nonlocal elasticity, along with Rayleigh and Bishop theories (higher-order theories) are established to justify the nonlocal behavior of constitutive relations. The governing equation and the related boundary conditions are derived from Hamilton's principle. The assumed modes method is adopted to solve the equation of motion. For the free axial vibration, the natural frequencies are calculated for the various values of the nonlocal parameter only based on Eringen's theory. The effects of the nonlocal parameter, thickness, length, and ratio of the excitation frequency to the natural frequency over time in dimensional and non-dimensional axial displacements are investigated for the first time.

  • This paper investigates the free vibrations of cylindrical shells made of time-dependent materials for different viscoelastic models under various boundary conditions. During the extraction of equations, the displacement field is estimated through the first-order shear deformation theory taking into account the transverse normal strain effect. The constitutive equations follow Hooke's Law, and the kinematic relations are linear. The assumption of axisymmetric is included in the problem. The governing equations of thick viscoelastic cylindrical shell are determined for Maxwell, Kelvin-Voigt and the first and second types of Zener's models based on Hamilton's principle. The motion equations involve four coupled partial differential equations and an analytical method based on the elementary theory of differential equations is used for its solution. Relying on the results, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of viscoelastic shells are identified. Conducting a parametric study, we examine the effects of geometric and mechanical properties and boundary conditions, as well as the effect of transverse normal strain on natural frequencies. The results in this paper are compared against the results obtained from the finite elements analysis. The results suggest that solutions achieved from the two methods are ideally consistent in a special range.

  • In devising a numerical approximation for the convective spatial transport of a fluid mechanical quantity, it is noted that the convective motion of a scalar quantity occurs in one-way, or from upstream to downstream. This consideration leads to a new scheme termed a pure upwind difference scheme (PUDS) in which an estimated value for a fluid mechanical quantity at a control surface is not influenced from downstream values. The formal accuracy of the proposed scheme is third order accurate. Two typical benchmark problems of a wall-driven fluid flow in a square cavity and a buoyancy-driven natural convection in a tall cavity are computed to evaluate performance of the proposed method. for comparison, the widely used simple upwind scheme, power-law scheme, and QUICK methods are also considered. Computation results are encouraging: the proposed PUDS sensitized to the convection direction produces the least numerical diffusion among tested convection schemes, and, notable improvements in representing recirculation of fluid stream and spatial change of a scalar. Although the formal accuracy of PUDS and QUICK are the same, the accuracy difference of approximately a single order is observed from the revealed results.

  • Fashion has been analyzed and explained in diverse ways. Fashion, like every phase of culture, is a reflection of the Zeitgeist. In order to understand the changing fashion we must understand the changing society. For fashion of a period are expressions of the interrelation of the various elements of the culture, including the social and political values, the economic and industrial progress, art, the development of technology, etc... Particularly fashion is closely connected with a style of art. In a style of art, futurism focused on the "dynamism" resulting from super-speed and high-technology. This study aimed to review literatures, fashion magazines, web-site in order to know how the dynamism of futurism is expressed in modern fashion. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Dynamism was expressed by means of lines, colors, patterns through the eyesights visually. Asymmetrical oblique lines, zig-zag lines or bold cutting expressed the mechanical and offensive dynamism. In contrast, such lines as curves and spirals expressed the soft and natural dynamism. Primary colors or complementary contrast expressed energetic and rhythmical dynamism. The geometrical patterns and automobile wheels patterns expressed dynamism resulting from mechanical aesthetics. 2. Dynamism was expressed through repeat of lines, colors, patterns, and textiles. Particularly Vinyl material, fluorescent material, metallic material, beads, and spangle expressed a strong dynamism. On the other hand, natural materials, paper and other similar ones are used to signify the orientation towards a futuristic high-technology society.y society.

  • Lately, the scale of the primary energy consumption in Korea is ranked 10th in the world, and it takes up about 1.9% of the entire energy consumption in the world. And among total energy consumption in Korea, the ratio of the part corresponding to the residence or commercial buildings is about 30.5%. Also, with the increased interest in eco-friendly buildings, the production of eco-friendly building materials consisting of them also increases as well. However, since the process of their production generates much energy consumption, so this is being raised as a social problem. Therefore, this study suggests a method to improve thermal performance by using eco-friendly earth plastering materials and natural materials in order to reduce energy consumption in buildings. The experiment evaluated thermal performance by measuring the external and internal temperature of the curing after the plastering of 1cm in the wooden box of 30cm * 30cm * 30cm. As a result, there was difference in the order of powdered coal, pealite, chaff, and rice straw. Among them, powdered coal indicated excellent thermal performance. This will be the foundational research used to improve interior environment and reduce heating bills.
