We propose an adaptive nonlinear control algorithm for high precision tracking and stabilization of LOS(Line-of-Sight). The friction parameters of the LOS gimbal are estimated by off-line evolutionary strategy and the friction is compensated by estimated friction compensator. Especially, as the nonlinear control input in a small tracking error zone is enlarged by the nonlinear function, the steady state error is significantly reduced. The proposed algorithm is a direct adaptive control method based on the Lyapunov stability theory, and its convergence is guaranteed under the limited modeling error or torque disturbance. The performance of the pro-posed algorithm is verified by computer simulation on the LOS gimbal model of a moving vehicle.

In the telecommunication industry, estimation of the cost of network facilities is very important since depreciation cost of the facilities accounts for a large portion of the product cost. Moreover, cost estimation in the industry becomes more difficult because of increasing indirect cost upon digital convergence, expanding multi-purpose facilities, complexity of service product, etc. Nevertheless, not much seem to have been done in improving estimation methodology of the cost of network facilities. As a result, the quality of cost information on network facilities has deteriorated, and now even decision-makers in the industry dismiss the information. Recently, two major telecommunication companies adopted a new network cost estimation method to deal with the issue. In this paper, we study the concept of new cost estimation method and the procedure to develop and apply it. We also suggest the method to carry out the cost allocation using Matlab which is more efficient and time-saving than other commercial cost calculation packages.

The innate immune response serves as a first-line-of-defense mechanism for a host against viral infection. Viruses must therefore subvert this anti-viral response in order to establish an efficient life cycle. In line with this fact, Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) encodes numerous genes that function as immunomodulatory proteins to antagonize the host immune system. One such mechanism through which KSHV evades the host immunity is by encoding a viral homolog of cellular interferon (IFN) regulatory factors (IRFs), known as vIRFs. Herein, we summarize recent advances in the study of the immunomodulatory strategies of KSHV vIRFs and their effects on KSHV-associated pathogenesis.

Since pooling is a popular scheme in many areas to attain operational excellence, many researchers investigated the performance of pooling systems. However, rare research could be found on pooling with game situation which has much applicability to real world phenomenon. We analyze the performance of noncooperative pooling system with two servers having different sharing capacity. We investigate the sensitivity of the advantage of capacity pooling on the variation of system parameters, including sharing capacity numbers, pooling probability, pooling strategy and traffic intensity. As a result, we suggest an efficient control policy which facilitate the performance of pooling in a game situation.

The market for second hand products has been growing for a variety of reasons (e.g., new products appearing at a faster rate and the expected life of products increasing due to rapid advances in technology). The demand for warranties for second-hand products has been growing along with the growth of the market for second-hand products. Warranty for new products (consumer durables, industrial and commercial, and specialized defense products) has received a lot of attention. In contrast, warranties for second-hand product have received very little attention. Often, dealers of second-hand product such as cars offer 2D-warranties (Year and Kilometers). The expected warranty cost associated with a second-hand product for 2D-Policies is a function of the age of the item and its usage (as it affects failures over the warranty period), the warranty terms and the servicing strategy used by the dealer. This paper deals with development of models for warranty cost analysis along with the decision on sale price and warranty cover for 2D-Warranty policies associated with sale of second-hand products.

남중국해는 풍부한 해저 및 어로자원 뿐만 아니라 매년 4만여 척 이상의 선박이 통과하고, 세계 해양물류 50%, 원유 66%가 통과하는 중요한 해상교통로이다. 특히 대한민국의 수입 물동량의 30%, 에너지 수입량의 90%가 당 해역을 통과하고 있다. 미국과 중국은 이 해역의 중요성을 일찍이 깨달아 각각 '인도-태평양 전략', '일대일로(一帶一路) 전략'을 시행하는 등 국가전략적 차원에서 해양안보를 통한 국익을 구체화 하고 있다. 이런 지정학적 갈등은 남중국해에서 미국이 실시하는 '항행의 자유 작전'이라는 양상으로 드러나고 있다. 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고, 항행의 자유 작전에 대한 국내 연구는 미흡한 것이 사실이며, 기존 연구 대부분도 국제법과 국제 협약에 대한 분석을 중심으로 수행되었다. 본 논문은 항행의 자유 작전에 대한 전략적 인식을 통해 그 기원과 배경을 분석하고, 미·중 전략경쟁이 장기화되는 상황에서 한반도 안보에 주는 함의를 도출하고자 한다.

2019년 5월과 6월, 호르무즈 해협에서 상선들의 연이은 피격으로 호르무즈 해협에서 해양안보의 불확실성은 증대되고 다수 국가들이 관심을 가지고 역내 안정을 도모하려 노력하고 있다. 한국도 청해부대 임무구역 확장이라는 독자적인 형태로 호르무즈 해협인근의 해양안보 안정화를 위해 노력 중이나, 호르무즈 해협의 주요 역내 행위자인 이란에 대한 세부적인 연구는 미진한 상황이며, 이란 또한 공식적으로 자국의 해양전략을 발표한 바가 없다. 따라서 본 연구는 현실주의적 시각, 특히 케네스 월츠로부터 시작된 방어적(구조적) 현실주의의 관점에서 아랍-페르시아의 양극체제로서의 중동의 정세를 분석하고, 아울러 이란의 독특한 이중화된 군 구조와 구분된 역할, 그리고 전력구성을 연구함으로서 이란의 국가전략과 해양전략을 도출하였다.

Stochastic processes are used to represent phenomena in many diverse fields. Numerical simulation method is widely applied for the solution to stochastic problems of complex structures when alternative analytical methods are not applicable. In some practical applications the stochastic processes show non-Gaussian properties. When the stochastic processes deviate significantly from Gaussian, techniques for their accurate simulation must be available. The various existing simulation methods of non-Gaussian stochastic processes generally can only simulate super-Gaussian stochastic processes with the high-peak characteristics. And these methodologies are usually complicated and time consuming, not sufficiently intuitive. By revealing the inherent coupling effect of the phase and amplitude part of discrete Fourier representation of random time series on the non-Gaussian features (such as skewness and kurtosis) through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, this paper presents a novel approach for the simulation of non-Gaussian stochastic processes with the prescribed amplitude probability density function (PDF) and power spectral density (PSD) by amplitude modulation and phase reconstruction. As compared to previous spectral representation method using phase modulation to obtain a non-Gaussian amplitude distribution, this non-Gaussian phase reconstruction strategy is more straightforward and efficient, capable of simulating both super-Gaussian and sub-Gaussian stochastic processes. Another attractive feature of the method is that the whole process can be implemented efficiently using the Fast Fourier Transform. Cases studies demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed algorithm.

에너지자원의 안정적인 확보는 국가발전을 위한 가장 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 본 연구는 혁신시스템 관점에서 우리나라의 에너지관련 정책결정시스템을 분석하고 그 문제점을 도출하였다. 혁신시스템의 구성요소 중 혁신주체 측면에서는 에너지의 안정적인 수송을 위한 전략적인 강화방안이 미흡하다는 한계를 가지고 있었으며, 연계측면에서는 국방영역을 제외한 혁신주체들 간의 연계는 비교적 양호하였으나 안보적 관점에서 중요한 역할을 담당하는 국방영역과 타 혁신주체들 간의 연계는 미흡한 것으로 분석되었다. 하부구조 측면에서는 에너지안보 관점에서 국방영역의 하부구조인 전력건설 논의가 미흡한 것으로 나타났으며, 마지막으로 제도적 측면에서는 에너지안보에 관한 국방영역의 역할에 대한 제도적 정립이 미흡하여 향후 국가 에너지안보와 관련된 거버넌스에서 국방영역의 참여가 제도적으로 명시될 필요가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

본 연구의 목적은 디지털 환경에서의 과학기술분야 전문도서관 경쟁력 강화를 위한 경영전략수립에 있다. 정보통신기술의 발달로 인해 디지털도서관 정보서비스는 많이 발전했지만, 전문도서관의 경영환경(사서, 예산, 조직 등)은 더욱 어려워지고 있다. 이러한 현상의 원인 중 하나는 정보기술 만능주의에 가려진 경영전략의 부재에 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 문제점을 극복하기 위해 과학기술분야 전문도서관을 둘러싸고 있는 내 외적 환경변화를 알아보고, 경영전략수립 시 요구되는 단계 및 환경분석기법을 살펴보고자 한다. 최종적으로 과학기술분야 전문도서관의 미션과 비전을 제시하고, SWOT 분석기법으로 살펴본 전문도서관의 환경분석결과를 통해 구체적인 경영전략방안을 제시하고자 한다.
