캡스톤디자인 및 현장실습이 취업률에 미치는 영향: 산학협력선도대학(LINC)을 중심으로 (The Study on the Influence of Capstone Design & Field Training on Employment Rate: Focused on Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation(LINC))

  • 대부분의 대학은 취업률 향상을 위하여 산헙혁력선도대학(LINC) 선정 여부와 상관없이 학생들의 취·창업역량강화 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 특히 비수도권대학의 경우 취업률 향상을 위하여 사활을 걸고 있다. 취업률에 절대적으로 영향을 미치는 대학설립유형과 대학소재지에 대한 한계를 극복하기 위하여, 취·창업역량강화를 위하여 기업가정신 함양을 위한 창업교육·지원 프로그램을 운영하고 있으며, 지역 및 기관과 연계한 PBL(Problem Based Learning) 컨셉이 반영된 캡스톤디자인과 현장실습 프로그램을 상시 운용하고 있다. 기존 연구에서는 산헙혁력선도대학(LINC)을 중심으로 효과성 검증에 관한 연구는 수행되었으나, 공시지표를 기반으로 취업률에 미치는 요인으로서 대학요인, 창업교육·지원, 산학연계교육 요인 모두를 대상으로 한 종단연구 사례는 보고되지 않았다. 본 연구는 취업률에 미치는 요인으로 대학요인, 창업교육·지원, 산학연계교육에 대하여 최근까지 공개된 2018년부터 2020년까지 대학공시지표를 기반으로 조건을 만족시키는 116개 대학을 대상으로 51개의 산학협력선도대학(LINC) 참여대학과 64개의 비참여대학 집단간 차이분석을 하였다. 또한 공시지표의 한계로 인하여, 참여 학생의 중복참여에 대한 이력 정보가 없는 점을 고려하여 취·창업역량강화 프로그램에 장기간 노출된다면 역량강화를 통한 취업률에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 노출효과(Exposure Effect)이론을 기반으로 종단적 인과관계 분석을 통하여 2017년부터 2021년까지 2차 사회맞춤형 산학협력 선도대학 육성사업(LINC+)의 효과성을 검증하였다. 연구결과 사회맞춤형 산학협력 선도대학 육성사업(LINC+)의 창업교육·지원 및 산학연계교육 프로그램은 취업률에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 종단적 인과관계 분석결과 기존 대학요인으로 수도권대학이 비수도권대학보다 여전히 취업률이 높으며, 사립대학이 국립대학보다 취업률이 높은 것을 재확인하였다. 취·창업역량강화 프로그램 중 창업강좌 이수자수, 캡스톤디자인 이수자수, 캡스톤디자인 지급액, 전담교직원수는 취업률에 연도별 부분적으로 영향을 미치며, 현장실습은 연도별로 전혀 영향을 미치지 않으며, 취·창업역량강화 프로그램의 장기간 노출이 취업률에 영향을 미치지 않음을 확인하였다. 그러므로, 대학의 취업률 향상을 위해서는 비수도권, 국·공립대의 한계를 극복해야만 함을 재확인하였다. 이를 극복하기 위한 취·창업역량강화 프로그램으로서 창업강좌 참여를 통하여 기업가정신의 강화와 PBL(Problem Based Learning) 컨셉이 강화된 캡스톤디자인 프로그램의 적극적인 도입 및 확신이 중요하며, 현장실습 프로그램이 취업률 향상에 도움이 되기 위해서는 전반적인 학사제도 및 조직의 재정비를 통한 내실 있는 프로그램 진행이 요구된다.

풍자 잡지 「펀치」를 통해 본 19세기 영국 사회의 수학에 대한 인식 변화 : 수학 시험의 확대와 수학 교육의 수요 변화를 중심으로 (Changes in England society's perception of mathematics in the 19th century through the satirical magazine Punch: Focusing on the expansion of mathematics tests and changes in demand for mathematics education)

  • This paper aims to examine how the public perception of mathematics changed in England in the 19th century. As rapid industrial and social developments took place in the 19th century, the educational environment underwent great changes, and the value and public perception of mathematics also changed. Mathematics took a new position in the terrain of educational reform in the late 19th century. In this study, I analyzed the actual condition of mathematics education in elementary and secondary schools, popular educational institutions, and universities in England in the first half, middle, and second half of the 19th century, and compared what values and usefulness of mathematics education were justified in each institution. I also examined how satirical magazine Punch satirized the public understanding or view on mathematics at each period. It is to be hoped that this study will have significant implications for raising the public's positive perception of mathematics in modern society.

대학생의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 요인 - 위험 및 완화요인을 중심으로 - (Factors Affecting Suicide Ideation among University Students)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to investigate life stressors and mitigating factors affecting suicide ideation amongst university students in Korea. Methods: Study participants were recruited online from one of the universities in Seoul. The total of 794 samples were included in the final dataset. First, correlation analyses were performed among life stressors, depression and mitigating factors. Second, factorial analysis was conducted to explore different dimensions of he life stressors experienced by the university students. Finally, we used logistic regression to find out the relationship between university students' sub-stressors or mitigating factors, and suicide ideation. Results: Three sub-stressors were identified - interpersonal relationship stress, academic stress and economic stress. All of these stressors were significantly associated with suicide ideation. However, none of them significantly predicted suicide ideation controlling for depression. All mitigating factors - health related behaviors, social support and leisure activities - were statistically significant and negatively related to depression, yet only social support had a significantly negative association with suicide ideation. Conclusions: In conclusion, Social support is the most important factor which may affect suicide ideation among university students in Korea.

FORMOSAT-2'S EFFECTIVENESS TO TAIWAN'S PUBLIC EDUCATION

  • Public education is undoubtedly a very important aspect for a country to develop space program. People have the rights to understand how the tax they paid is being used. This paper addresses the effectiveness of FORMOSAT-2 on public education in Taiwan. As the first remote sensing satellite of the National Space Organization (NSPO) of Taiwan, FORMOSAT-2 is a small satellite of 746 kg mass for two remote sensing missions: Earth and upward lightning observations. The mission orbit is sun-synchronous of 888 km altitude for exactly 14 revolutions per day. For earth observation, the payload is an advanced high resolution remote sensing instrument (RSI) with ground sampling distance (GSD) 2 m in panchromatic (PAN) band and 8 m in four multi-spectral (MS) bands. For upward lightning observation, the payload is an imager of sprites and upper atmospheric lightning (ISUAL). After more than two years of Earth observation started in June 2004, the effectiveness of FORMOSAT-2 images on public education in Taiwan is very promised. Five domestic universities and one private company in Taiwan have signed contracts respectively with NSPO to take the roles of satellite image investigator and distributor. A private company has signed contract with NSPO to generate and provide URMAP (= your map) in its website for general public applications by using FORMOSAT-2 images. The Newtonkids Book Company used FORMOSAT-2 images to publish a kind of calendar for children education purpose. Besides, a science team in National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is doing the research work on the 3820 (up to 30 June 2006) transient luminous events (TLEs) observed by FORMOSAT-2.

  • 도서는 환해성, 협소성, 격리성, 기상조건에 대한 의존성 둥 지리적, 자연적 환경 면에서 육지보다 불리한 여건을 가지고 있다. 또한 이로 인한 교통불편, 취약한 산업기반을 비롯 교육, 의료, 문화시설, 정보통신시설 둥 경제적, 사회적, 기반이 낙후되어 있으며, 하루가 다르게 변모하는 육지와 그 격차가 더욱 심화되어 가고 있다. 이러한 발전격차는 도서지역 도서인구의 급격한 감소 및 구성인구의 고령화라는 결과를 낳고 있으므로 도서지역의 정보통신에 대하여 연구하고자 한다.

  • 최근 지역대표도서관을 중심으로 자료의 공동보존을 위한 노력이 가시화되고 있으나 이는 대체로 공공도서관을 중심으로 한 움직임이다. 이에 이 연구는 부산 경남지역을 중심으로 국립대학도서관을 위한 공동보존서고 건립 운영모형을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 1) 참여도서관 보존서고의 규모와 시설, 운영정책, 장서량과 이관현황, 포화상태 등을 조사하고 이관예정자료의 규모를 추산하는 등 현황분석을 실시한 다음, 2) 건립형태, 조직과 인력, 자료이관지침, 자료정리와 배가, 자료제공 등 공동보존서고 건립 운영 모형을 제안하였다.

  • 본 연구는 국내의 화재조사전문교육 운영 실태를 분석하고 개선방안을 도출하는데 있다. 연구결과 현재의 화재조사전문교육은 공적영역(소방, 경찰, 전기안전공사, 가스안전공사 등) 중심으로 이루어지고 있으며 중앙소방학교에서 실시하고 있는 교육이 가장 체계적인 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 사적영역(화재피해이재민, 일반국민 등)을 대상으로 하는 화재조사전문교육은 거의 이루어지고 있지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해서 현행 중앙소방학교를 평생교육체제로 전환하여 대학의 학위과정과 연계하고 소방방재청에서 시행하고 있는 화재조사관자격증 제도를 외부에 개방 및 학습수준별 5단계로 나누어 운영할 것을 제안하였다.

Integrated Model of the Higher Education Financing Under the Quadruple Helix Concept

  • Rapid growth of the higher education role in ensuring the socio-economic and innovative development of the national economy in the context of the development of the information society and the knowledge economy is observed. Achieving positive synergistic effects of the higher education development requires proper funding for university education and research. The existing funding models for national higher education systems in a number of developing countries need modernization in accordance with the modern challenges of economic and innovative development. The purpose of the article is to formulate theoretical - methodological and applied foundations for the development and implementation of the integrated model of the higher education financing under the Quadruple Helix concept. At the center of the developed model are the areas of interaction identified by the authors, namely: Personnel, Science, Management, Innovation, Social area. This made it possible to specify the interests of all stakeholders and orient the activities of higher education institutions to the satisfaction of these interests. Effective implementation of the integrated Model of the higher education financing requires increasing the level of investment attractiveness and practical value of university research; activation of innovative development of enterprises; state stimulation of business participation in university research and education; harmonization of current legislation with EU standards. Implementation of the Model will diversify sources of funding for universities, increase their level of economic security and achieve integrated synergies from the interaction of universities, business, government and the public (as the main stakeholders within the Quadruple Helix concept).

언론사 공과대학 평가방향 및 기준에 대한 연구 (A Study on Directions and Criteria for the Evaluation of Engineering College by the Media)

  • This study was carried out with the aim of suggesting the directions and criteria for the evaluation of engineering college by the media. In order to accomplish the purpose of the research, we compare and analyze items and criteria of the evaluation of the engineering colleges by domestic and foreign major media companies and investigate and analyze opinions of the engineering community on the evaluation on engineering colleges and universities by media, and then suggest direction of improvements of the evaluation including evaluation items. As the methods of study, literature survey, field investigations, and interviews of experts were utilized. The results of this study are as follows. At first, the direction of evaluations should be focused on educational values of institutions, and then evaluation should consider the characteristics of each universities and engineering colleges. Expansion of participation of engineering communities in evaluation process is also necessary and to secure of reliable and public data is highly important. In addition, the weighting factor of educational performance area were proposed to raise and also the factors should be adjusted to reflect the characteristics of engineering colleges.

Effects of Technology Transfer Policies on the Technical Efficiency of Korean University TTOs

  • The Korean government has provided various policy devices to boost technology transfers between academia and industry since the establishment of the Technology Transfer Promotion Act in 2000. Along with the enactment of the law, the Korean government mandated the establishment of a technology transfer office at national and public universities and encouraged technology transfer activities. Despite the quantitative expansion of technology transfer offices (TTOs), operational inefficiency was brought up. As a supplementary policy, the Korean government implemented a line of projects to support the labor and business expenses of leading TTOs. This research questions whether the project greatly affected the technical efficiency of TTOs. We analyze publicly available university panel data from 2007 to 2015 using a one-step stochastic frontier analysis. The results suggest that the program was marginally effective at shifting the technical efficiency distribution to the right on average, but it failed to maximize its impact by diversifying the policy means based on targets. The marginal effects of the program on technical efficiency differ according to the research capability and size of each school. We also compare technical efficiency against the licensing income at the start and end of the program. Technical efficiency increased for the leading TTOs, and both measures show improvements for unsupported TTOs. Our empirical results imply that diversifying the program for universities with different characteristics may have improved the effectiveness of the policy.
