Entropy generation along with exergetic analysis is carried out using turbulent nanofluid flow in the heat exchanger. To obtain the optimized percentage constituent of nanofluid, the nanofluid volume concentrations is varied for the given input conditions. For different Reynolds number of the fluid and heat capacity rate ratio between the streams, the heat transfer improvements are studied in terms of nano particles diameter. Parametric analysis is carried out for a counterflow heat exchanger using turbulent nanofluid flow with exergetic efficiency along with entropy generation number as performance parameters. The exergetic efficiency provides realistic approach in the design of nanofluid applications in heat exchanger leading to conservation of energy.
This study explained the effects of radiation, magnetic field, and nanoparticle shape on the peristaltic flow of an Upper-Convected Maxwell nanofluid through a porous medium in an asymmetric channel for a better understanding of cooling and heating mechanisms in the presence of magnetic fields. These phenomena are modeled mathematically as a system of non-linear differential equations, that are solved under long-wavelength approximation and low Reynolds number conditions using the perturbation method. The results for nanofluid and temperature described the behavior of the pumping characteristics during their interaction with (the vertical position, thermal radiation, the shape of the nanoparticle, and the magnetic field) analytically and explained graphically. Also, the combined effects of thermal radiation parameters and some physical parameters on pressure rise, pressure gradient, velocity, and heat distribution are pointed out. Qualitatively, a reverse velocity appears with combined high radiation and Grashof number or combined high radiation and low volume flow rate. At high radiation, the spherical nanoparticle shape has the greatest effect on heat distribution.
After a severe accident to the nuclear reactor, the in-vessel retention strategy is a key way to prevent the leakage of radioactive material. Nanofluid is a steady suspension used to improve heat-transfer characteristics of working fluids, formed by adding solid particles with diameters below 100nm to the base fluids, and its thermal physical properties and heat-transfer characteristics are much different from the conventional working fluids. Thus, nanofluids with appropriate nanoparticle type and volume concentration can enhance the heat-transfer process. In this study, the moving particle semi-implicit method-meshless advection using flow-directional local grid method is used to simulate the bubble growth, departure, and sliding on the downward-facing heating surface in pure water and nanofluid (1.0 vol.% $Al_2O_3/H_2O$) flow boiling processes; additionally, the bubble critical departure angle and sliding characteristics and their influence are also investigated. The results indicate that the bubble in nanofluid departs from the heating surface more easily and the critical departure inclined angle of nanofluid is greater than that of pure water. In addition, the influence of nanofluid on bubble sliding is not significant compared with pure water.

This study presents the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of Ag nanofluid in mini-tubes(outer diameters of 1/8inch, 3/16inch). Experiments were performed for Reynolds numbers ranged from 500 to 2,500 and nanofluid concentrations of 0.1 and 0.3vol.%. The pressure drop of nanofluid flow increased by max. 21% compared with that of distilled water. The heat transfer coefficients of the nanofluid of 0.1 vol.% enhanced 3~42% for 1/8inch tube, and 3~69% for 3/16inch tube. Also, the heat transfer coefficients of the nanofluid of 0.3 vol.% enhanced 35~65% for 1/8inch tube, and 62~125% for 3/16inch tube. From the results Ag nanofluid can be a better candidate as a coolant than distilled water when using in mechanical and/or electronic systems.
This paper studied the peristaltic transport of upper convected Maxwell nanofluid through a porous medium in a heated (isothermal) symmetric vertical channel. The nanofluid is assumed to be electrically conducting in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. These phenomena are modeled mathematically by a differential equations system by taking low Reynolds number and long-wavelength approximation, the yield differential equations have solved analytically. A suggested new technique to display and discuss the trapping phenomenon is presented. We discussed and analyzed the pumping characteristics, heat function, flow velocity and trapping phenomena which were illustrated graphically through a set of figures for various values of parameters of the problem. The numerical results show that, there are remarkable effects on the vertical velocity, pressure gradient and trapping phenomena with the thermal change of the walls.
The boundary layer of a two-dimensional forced convective flow along a persistent moving horizontal needle in an electrically conducting magnetohydrodynamic dissipative nanofluid was numerically investigated. The energy equation was constructed with Joule heating, viscous dissipation, uneven heat source/sink, and thermal radiation effects. We analyzed the boundary layer behavior of a continuously moving needle in Blasius (moving fluid) and Sakiadis (quiescent fluid) flows. We considered Cu nanoparticles embedded in methanol. The reduced system of governing Partial differential equations (PDEs) was solved by employing the Runge-Kutta-based shooting process. Computational outcomes of the rate of heat transfer and friction factors were tabulated and discussed. Velocity and temperature descriptions were examined with the assistance of graphical illustrations. Increasing the needle size did not have a significant influence on the Blasius flow. The heat transfer rate in the Sakiadis flow was high compared with that in the Blasius flow.

Nanocellulose was surface-functionalized toward the applications in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) as a green alternative. The focus of this paper is on the effect of this material based nanofluid (NF) on foam lamella stabilization through studying its bubble breakup dynamics and flow behaviors in constricted mircofluidic devices. The NF stabilized foam produced an improved flow resistance across the capillary largely due to the capillary trapped bubbles at the contraction. The "snap-off" caused the NF stabilized foam to produce finer textured bubbles, which can migrate readily forward to the deep porous media, as revealed by the pressure profiles.

In this study, a numerical study was conducted to evaluate the performance improvement when CuO nanofluid was used in the plate heat exchanger. As a result, the heat transfer amount is increased by 5.45% when 2 vol% CuO nanofluid is used. The influence on the CuO nanofluid on the performance of heat exchanger is decreased by increasing the flow rate of working fluid. In addition, the overall heat transfer coefficient using 2 vol% CuO nanofluid decreased compared to the base fluid. However, the pressure drop and the consumption of the pump power is increased as the concentration of CuO nanofluid increased because the increase of the viscosity. These are increased up to 15.4% compared to those of the base fluid. Moreover, the performance index of CuO nanofluid is decreased by 12.6% compared to that of the base fluid.

In the present study, a laminar natural convection flow of $H_2O$-Cu nanofluid in a two dimensional enclosure has been investigated using a thermal lattice Boltzmann approach with the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) model. The effect of suspended nanoparticles on the fluid flow and heat transfer process have been studied for different controlling parameters such as particle volume fraction ($\Phi$), Rayleigh number (Ra). For this investigation the Rayleigh number changes from 104 to 106 and volume fraction varied from 0 to 10% with three different particle diameters (dp), say 10 nm, 20 nm and 40 nm. It is shown that increasing the Rayleigh number (Ra) and the volume fraction of nanofluid causes an increase of the effective heat transfer rate in terms of average Nusselt number (Nu) as well as the thermal conductivity of nanofluid. On the other hand, increasing the particle diameter causes the decrease of the heat transfer rate and thermal conductivity. The result of the analysis are compared with experimental and numerical data both for pure and nanofluids and it is seen a relatively good agreement.
The nanofluids are the fluids with excellent thermal property, it is expected as a working fluid of the next generation. The nanofluids are well known that if it is used in the boiling heat transfer system, the critical heat flux is enhanced up to 200%, and the thermal conductivity is increased up to from 10 to 160%. However, the fouling phenomenon can be occurred that nanoparticles of nanofluids are deposited on the heat transfer surface. Therefore, to investigate relation between nanofluid and fouling, this study is carried out using oxidized graphene nanofluid. Also it compared and analyzed the critical heat flux and the boiling heat transfer coefficient. As the result, in case of oxidized graphene deposition for fouling, the critical heat flux is increased up to 20% more than oxdized graphene nanofluid. However, the boiling heat transfer coefficient is decreased down to about $6kW/m^2K$ at $1,000kW/m^2$ more than pure water.
