  • Sound absorption coefficients of oak (Quercus mongolica) wood and oak mushroom bed log were measured by the two microphone transfer function method and anatomical features of oak mushroom bed log examined by stereo scope and SEM observations. The sound absorption coefficients of oak mushroom bed log seemed to be higher than those of normal oak wood specimen over all estimated frequency range. Especially, in the frequency range of 2 to 6 kHz, they were about 2~3 times higher than those of normal wood specimen. Due to fungi degradation, the specific gravity of oak mushroom bed log decreased about 70% than that of normal wood. For oak mushroom bed log, abundant pores occurred on the radial, tangential and cross sectional surface and it was considered that the pores behaved as a sound absorbing pore.

  • This study was conducted to preserve of mushroom resources and utility useful wild mushrooms by segregation and identification from 2005 to 2007. The mushroom strains were collected a center of native mushroom wild growth place of Chungbuk Province. The obtained results from this study were summarized as follows ; We collected 79 wild mushroom strains, and the collected wild mushrooms were composition of 32 strains of edible mushrooms, 3 strains of medicinal use mushrooms, 15 strains of poisonous mushrooms, and 29 strains indistinct mushrooms. The 28 strains were segregated and identified from 32 strains of edible mushrooms. The present preservation strains are 15 strains, and other 13 strains were damaged in tissue culture and preservation. We made specimen of wild mushroom by alcohol, and have preserved perennial mushrooms by drying. We photographed 79 strains of wild mushrooms.

  • This study introduces one specimen each of the genera Gymnopilus, Marasmius, and Mycena as an unrecorded species found in the Hwasun Gotjawal and Jeju Gotjawal Provincial Park of the Hangyeong-Andeok terrain, South Korea. Morphological analyses of macroscopic and microscopic features, and molecular analysis of the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer region were conducted to identify the specimens. Our results indicated that the newly identified specimens were Gymnopilus dilepis, Marasmius tenuissimus, and Mycena seminau. Here, we describe these newly identified mushroom species and provide baseline data on their diversity in Gotjawal, South Korea.

  • We fabricated grooved mushroom structures with anisotropic wettability on silicon substrates using basic MEMS processes. The geometry of these grooved mushroom structures could be changed by controlling the additional IPA solution during Si etching by TMAH solution. To understand anisotropic wettability, contact angles (CAs) of hexadecane droplets were measured in the orthogonal and parallel directions to grooved lines. The CA measurement results displayed anisotropic wetting on the grooved mushroom structures. However, specimens with $80{\mu}m$ distance between top layers displayed isotropic and superoleophobic wetting. This study demonstrates that the thickness of the top layer is more critical than the width or height of the ridge when determining the wettability of organic solvent. Despite the wide distance between top layers ($80{\mu}m$), the specimen with a thin top layer (100 nm) showed highly anisotropic wetting and low CA due to the pinning of droplets at the edge of the top layer.

  • Overall, 3,950 mushroom specimens were collected from the Central Cardamom Protected Forest (CCPF) in Koh Kong province, the Kirirom National Park (KNP) in Kampong Speu province, the Seima Biodiversity Conservation Area (SBCA) in Kratie province, the Mondulkiri Protected Forest (MPF) in Mondulkiri province, the Phnom Bokor National Park (PBNP) in Kampot province, the Western Siem Pang Protected Forest (SPPF) in Stung Treng province, the Ream National Park (RNP) in Sihanoukville province of Cambodia from 2009 to 2014, and then they were identified and classified into 302 species, 165 genera, and 64 families by morphological and genetical characteristics. The mushrooms belongs to Ascomycota were classified into 26 species, 14 genera, and 10 families, while those belongs to Basidiomycota were classified into 276 species, 151 genera, and 54 families, respectively. Among these mushrooms, the most species-rich families are Polyporaceae (26.2%), Marasmiaceae (9.1%), Ganodermataceae (7.7%), Hymenochaetaceae (7.5%), and Mycenaceae (7.1%), and comprised 57.5% of the total specimens identified.

  • As part of the mushroom surveys in the unexplored areas of Korea in 2019 and 2020, a phalloid fungus was found in a saline sand beach. The specimen was mainly characterized by its reticulate pileus and violet volva with well-developed rhizomorphs. Based on ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequencing and morphological characteristics, the specimen was identified as Phallus hadriani. Additionally, a morphological comparison of closely related species was performed. This study describes for the first time the presence of P. hadriani in Korea.

  • For sterilization of microorganisms of the Listeria genus contaminating enoki mushroom, pilot mushroom grower equipped with air sterilization devices were developed. Sterilization experiments were performed using physical and chemical treatments. Internal temperature and humidity were controlled, maintaining 6.62℃±0.30 in the upper shelves, 6.46℃±0.24 in the middle shelves, and 6.48℃±0.25 in the lower shelves. Humidities were 79.97%±4.42, 79.43%±4.06, and 79.94±4.30%, respectively, with a temperature setting of 6.5℃, and a relative humidity of 75%. A suitable enoki mushroom cultivation stage for air sterilizer application was during the growth stage, with temperature in the 6.5~8.5℃ range, and humidity of 70~80%. At these same internal conditions, the ozone concentration in the mushroom cultivator was found to be 160 ppb during ion-cluster generator operation. After physical sterilization, the Listeria innocua survival rate was 0.1 to 0.9% using ion cluster sterilization, and 9.3 to 10.6% using UV air sterilization. The Listeria innocua survival rates on different materials were 9.3~10.6% on the metal specimen, and 9.9~16.2% on the plastic wrapper. The survival rate was particularly high on the rough side of the plastic wrapper. Ion cluster air sterilization is a labor-saving and effective method for suppressing the occurrence of Listeria bacteria on mushroom growers walls and shelves. For the plastic wrapper, chemical sterilization is more effective than physical sterilization.
