Energy efficiency is one of the most critical concerns for wireless sensor networks. By allowing sensor nodes in close proximity to cooperate in transmission to form a virtual multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system, recent progress in wireless MIMO communications can be exploited to boost the system throughput, or equivalently reduce the energy consumption for the same throughput and BER target. However, these cooperative transmission strategies may incur additional energy cost and system overhead. In this paper, assuming that data collectors are equipped with antenna arrays and superior processing capability, energy efficiency of relevant traditional and cooperative transmission strategies: Single-input-multiple-output(SIMO), space-time block coding(STBC), and spatial multiplexing(SM) are studied. Analysis in the wideband regime reveals that, while receive diversity introduces significant improvement in both energy efficiency and spectral efficiency, further improvement due to the transmit diversity of STBC is limited, as opposed to the superiority of the SM scheme especially for non-trivial spectral efficiency. These observations are further confirmed in our analysis of more realistic systems with limited bandwidth, finite constellation sizes, and a target error rate. Based on this analysis, general guidelines are presented for optimal transmission strategy selection in system level and link level, aiming at minimum energy consumption while meeting different requirements. The proposed selection rules, especially those based on system-level metrics, are easy to implement for sensor applications. The framework provided here may also be readily extended to other scenarios or applications.

Antenna selection is a method to enhance the performance of spatial multiplexing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, which can achieve the diversity order of the full MIMO systems. Although various selection criteria have been studied in the literature, they should be adjusted to the detection operation implemented at the receiver. In this paper, antenna selection methods that optimize the post-processing signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and eigenvalue are considered for the lattice reduction (LR)-based receiver. To develop a complexity-efficient antenna selection algorithm, the incremental selection strategy is adopted. Moreover, for improvement of performance, an additional iterative selection method is presented in combination with an incremental strategy.

In this paper, the input-output interconnection method of the multi-valued signal processing circuit using perfect Shuffle technique and Kronecker product is discussed. Using this method, the design method of circuit of the multi-valued Reed-Muller expansions(MRME) to be used the multi-valued signal processing on finite field GF(p**m) is presented. The proposed input-output interconnection method is shown that the matrix transform is efficient and that the module structure is easy. The circuit design of MRME on FG(p**m) is realized following as` 1) contructing the baisc gates on GF(3) by CMOS T gate, 2) designing the basic cells to be implemented the transform and inverse transform matrix of MRME using these basic gates, 3) interconnecting these cells by the input-output interconnecting method of the multivalued signal processing circuits. Also, the circuit design of the multi-valued signal processing function on GF(3\ulcorner similar to Winograd algorithm of 3x3 array of DFT (discrete fourier transform) is realized by interconnection of Perfect Shuffle technique and Kronecker product. The presented multi-valued signal processing circuits that are simple and regular for wire routing and posses the properties of concurrency and modularity are suitable for VLSI.
For the issue of subsurface target localization by reverse projection, a new approach of target localization with different distances based on symmetric sub-array multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar is proposed in this paper. By utilizing the particularity of structure of the two symmetric sub-arrays, the received signals are jointly reconstructed to eliminate the distance information from the steering vectors. The distance-independent direction of arrival (DOA) estimates are acquired, and the localizations of subsurface targets with different distances are realized by reverse projection. According to the localization mechanism and application characteristics of the proposed algorithm, the grid zooming method based on spatial segmentation is used to optimize the locaiton efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed localization method and optimization scheme.

It is necessary to accurate and efficient management for measured digital data from sensors in u-health system. It is not efficient that sensor network process input stream data of mass storage stored in database the same time. We propose to improve the processing performance of multidimensional stream data continuous incoming from multiple sensor. We propose process query based on sliding window for efficient input stream and found multiple query plan to Mjoin method and we reduce stored data using backpropagation algorithm. As a result, we obtained to efficient result about 18.3% reduction rate of database using 14,324 data sets.

Over the last five years, relaying or multihop techniques have been intensively researched as means for potentially improving link performance of wireless networks. However, the data rates of relays are often limited because they cannot transmit and receive on the same frequency simultaneously. This limitation has come to the attention of researchers, and recently a number of relay techniques have been proposed specifically to improve the data efficiency of relaying protocols. This paper surveys transmission protocols that employ first single relays, then multiple relays and finally multiple antenna relays. A common feature of these techniques is that novel signal processing techniques are required in the relay network to support increased data rates. This paper presents results and discussion that highlight the advantages of these approaches.

We propose an automatic inspection system for hologram with multiple patterns. The system hardware consists of illuminations, camera, and vision processor. Multiple illuminations using LEDs are arranged in different directions to acquire each image of patterns. The system software consists of pre-processing, pattern generation, and pattern matching. The acquired images of input hologram are compared with their reference patterns by developed matching algorithm. To compensate for the positioning error of input hologram, reference patterns of hologram for different position should be generated in on-line. We apply a frequency transformation based CGH(computer-generated hologram) method to generate reference images. For the fast pattern matching, we also apply the matching method in the frequency domain. Experimental results for hologram of Korean currency are then presented to verify the usefulness of proposed system.

Recently, as the installation of a large number of high-performance CCTVs for crime prevention and traffic control has increased rapidly, the problem of increasing system requirements for response to privacy infringement factors and analysis of high-definition image information transmitted from multiple cameras has been actively emerging. Accordingly, there is a need for a method for responding to privacy infringement and a method for efficiently processing surveillance images input from multiple cameras. In this paper, in order to reduce the processing cost of the input image and improve the processing speed, an integrated image is generated by grouping images input from a plurality of cameras. After analyzing the pre-generated integrated video, it detects a preset privacy event or an event that highlights interest. Depending on whether or not an event is detected, you will perform an editing operation corresponding to the event.
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology provides high data rate and enhanced quality of service for wireless communications. Since the benefits from MIMO result in a heavy computational load in detectors, the design of low-complexity suboptimum receivers is currently an active area of research. Lattice-reduction-aided detection (LRAD) has been shown to be an effective low-complexity method with near-maximum-likelihood performance. In this paper, we advocate the use of systolic array architectures for MIMO receivers, and in particular we exhibit one of them based on LRAD. The "Lenstra-Lenstra-Lov$\acute{a}$sz (LLL) lattice reduction algorithm" and the ensuing linear detections or successive spatial-interference cancellations can be located in the same array, which is considerably hardware-efficient. Since the conventional form of the LLL algorithm is not immediately suitable for parallel processing, two modified LLL algorithms are considered here for the systolic array. LLL algorithm with full-size reduction-LLL is one of the versions more suitable for parallel processing. Another variant is the all-swap lattice-reduction (ASLR) algorithm for complex-valued lattices, which processes all lattice basis vectors simultaneously within one iteration. Our novel systolic array can operate both algorithms with different external logic controls. In order to simplify the systolic array design, we replace the Lov$\acute{a}$sz condition in the definition of LLL-reduced lattice with the looser Siegel condition. Simulation results show that for LR-aided linear detections, the bit-error-rate performance is still maintained with this relaxation. Comparisons between the two algorithms in terms of bit-error-rate performance, and average field-programmable gate array processing time in the systolic array are made, which shows that ASLR is a better choice for a systolic architecture, especially for systems with a large number of antennas.

Up to now, many state-of-arts have been proposed for two-way relaying system with linear modulations. The performances of antenna selection (AS) at both transmit and relay nodes need to be investigated in some two-way relaying multiple-input multiple-output (TWRM) systems. In this paper, the goal is focused on the study of nonlinear modulations, i.e., continuous phase modulation (CPM) in TWRM systems. Firstly, the joint phase trellis are simplified by reversed Rimoldi processing so as to reduce the systems' complexity. Then the performances of joint transmit and receive antenna selection (JTRAS) with CPM modulations in two-way relaying MIMO systems are analyzed. More exactly, the pair wise probability (PEP) is used to evaluate the error performance based on the CPM signal matrix, which is calculated in terms of Laurent expression. Since the channels subject to two terminal nodes share common antennas at relay node R in multiple-access scheme, we revise the JTRAS algorithm and compare it to existing algorithm via simulation. Finally, the error performances for various schemes of antenna selection are simulated and compared to the analysis in this paper.
