  • Induction cooking application with multiple loads need high power inverters and appropriate control techniques. This paper proposes an inverter configuration with buck-boost converter for multiple load induction cooking application with independent control of each load. It uses one half-bridge for each load. For a given dc supply of $V_{DC}$, one more $V_{DC}$ is derived using buck-boost converter giving $2V_{DC}$ as the input to each half-bridge inverter. Series resonant loads are connected between the centre point of $2V_{DC}$ and each half-bridge. The output voltage across each load is like that of a full-bridge inverter. In the proposed configuration, half of the output power is supplied to each load directly from the source and remaining half of the output power is supplied to each load through buck-boost converter. With buck-boost converter, each half-bridge inverter output power is increased to a full-bridge inverter output power level. Each half-bridge is operated with constant and same switching frequency with asymmetrical duty cycle (ADC) control technique. By ADC, output power of each load is independently controlled. This configuration also offers reduced component count. The proposed inverter configuration is simulated and experimentally verified with two loads. Simulation and experimental results are in good agreement. This configuration can be extended to multiple loads.

  • The nucleotide sequences of the chloroplast rbcL, matK, and psbA-trnH and nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions were determined from all species of Viburnum in Korea with multiple accessions to reconstruct the phylogeny and to evaluate the utility of the DNA sequences as DNA barcodes. The results of phylogenetic analyses of the cpDNA and ITS data are consistent with the findings of previous studies of Viburnum. Four morphologically closely related species, V. dilatatum, V. erosum, V. japonicum, and V. wrightii, were included in a strongly supported sister clade of V. koreanum and V. opulus. Viburnum odoratissimum is suggested to be sister to the V. dilatatum/V. koreanum clade in the cpDNA data, while V. odoratissimum is a sister to V. furcatum in the ITS data. Viburnum burejaeticum and V. carlesii are strongly supported as monophyletic. Our analyses of DNA barcode regions from multiple accessions of the species of Viburnum in Korea confirm that six out of ten species in Korea can be discriminated at the species level. The V. dilatatum complex can be separated from the remaining species according to molecular data, but the resolution power to differentiate a species within the complex is weak. This study suggests that regional DNA barcodes are useful for molecular species identification in the case of Viburnum when flowering or fruiting materials are not available.

  • This paper handles, implementation of multiple access bidirectional serial communications protocol using DC power lines. The normal voltage of the power communication line maintains 24[V] corresponding to level 1 and the host drops the voltage to 12[V] on sending level 0 signal, also the clients normally keeps the line voltage to 24[V] use pull-down circuit to drop the voltage to 12[V] on sending level 1 signal. Host senses the voltage level of the power communication lines and the hosts switches power source from 24[V] to 12[V]. Experimental circuit is designed with one hosts and four clients and verified the power line voltage switching operation depending on the data signal levels on the power line.

  • In this paper, a current-mode buck-boost converter using Multiple switching devices is presented. The efficiency of the proposed converter is higher than that of conventional buck-boost converter. In order to improve the power efficiency at the high current level, the proposed converter is controlled with PWM(pulse width modulation) method. The converter has maximum output current 300mA, input voltage 3.3V, output voltage from 700mV to 12V, 1.5MHz oscillation frequency, and maximum efficiency 90%. Moreover, this paper proposes watchdog circuits in order to ensure the reliability and to improve the performance of dc-dc converters. An electrostatic discharge(ESD) protection circuit for deep submicron CMOS technology is presented. The proposed circuit has low triggering voltage using gate-substrate biasing techniques. Simulated result shows that the proposed ESD protection circuit has lower triggering voltage(4.1V) than that of conventional ggNMOS(8.2V).

  • We present an electroporation and viability monitoring chip for lung cancer cells in a single channel with multiple electric field zones. Previous electroporation chips utilized multiple microchannels or electrodes to form multiple electric fields, thus resulting in complex structures. However, the present chip can generate multiple electric fields in a single stepwise microchannel between a pair of electrodes, thus achieving the analysis of both cell electroporation and viability with a simple structure. We demonstrate that the electric field of 0.4 kV/cm results in a maximum percentage of $51.4{\pm}3.0%$ and $26.6{\pm}0.7%$ of viable and electroporated human lung cancer cells, H23 and A549, respectively. The present chip has potential for use in integrated cell chips for transfection studies.

  • This paper explains about the structure of multiple sensorial media application format (ISO/IEC 23000-17), which is newly standardized as a project of MPEG-A. This format facilitates effective storage, playing, and management of media with multiple sensorial effects. The ISO base media file format from MPEG-4 Part 12 and sensory effect metadata (SEM) from MPEG-V Part 3 are used to composed the multiple sensorial media application format. In this paper, a fragmentation method to break a SEM XML document into valid SEM samples is presented. Several binarization methods to compress the SEM samples are compared and evaluated as well. The compression ratio and processing time using the MPEG-V binary representation and the Binary MPEG format for XML (BiM) are superior to the gzip compression.

  • In this paper, we propose P-SRA (Proposed Simplified Resource Allocation) algorithm for efficient resource allocation for real time traffic in MIMO-OFDMA (Multiple Input Multiple Output - Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) systems with V-BLAST (Vertical-Bell laboratories LAyered Space-Time coding) detector. The proposed P-SRA scheme employs efficient 3 step resource allocation algorithm with plain V-BLAST and no H-ARQ, however it achieves comparable performance of a MIMO-OFDMA system utilizing error compensated V-BLAST and H-ARQ IR scheme.

  • In the ALC(Autoclaved lightweight concrete) manufacturing process, if the pre-cured semi-cake is removed after proper time is passed, it will be hard to retain the moisture and be easily cracked. Therefore, in this research, we took the research by multiple regression analysis to find relationship between variables for the prediction the hardness that is the control standard of the removal time. We study the relationship between Independent variables such as the V/T(Vibration Time), V/T movement, expansion height, curing time, placing temperature, Rising and C/S ratio and the Dependent variables, the hardness by multiple regression analysis. In this study, first, we calculated regression equation by the regression analysis, then we tried phased regression analysis, best subset regression analysis and residual analysis. At last, we could verify curing time, placing temperature, Rising and C/S ratio influence to the hardness by the estimated regression equation.

  • Experimental investigations were performed to examine the characteristics of propagating flame fronts around multiple bars within a rectangular chamber. The explosion chamber is 400 mm in height, $700{\times}700mm^2$ in cross-section and has a large top-venting area, $A_v$, of $700{\times}210mm^2$. This results in a value of 0.44 for $A_v/V^{2/3}$ and a L/D value of 0.57. The multiple obstacles of length 700 mm with a blockage ratio of 30 % were placed within the chamber. Temporally resolved flame front images were recorded by a high speed video camera to investigate the interaction between the propagating flame and the obstacles. Results showed that the flame propagation speeds before the flame impinges onto the obstacle almost equal to the laminar burning velocity. As the propagating flame impinged on the obstacle, the central region of flame began to become concave, this resulted in the flame deceleration in the region. As the flame interacted with the modified flow filed generated behind the central obstacle, the probability density functions(PDFs) of the local flame displacement speed were extensively distributed toward higher speeds.

  • We propose multistage parallel nulling (MPN) partial parallel interference cancellation (PPIC) receiver for downlink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multicarrier (MC)-code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Though the V-BLAST is a popular MIMO receiver, it shows error floor for multiuser downlink MIMO MC-CDMA systems. The proposed MPN-PPIC receiver does not produce error floor for multiuser case, and achieves substantial performance gains with multistage processing. For single user case, the proposed method also surpasses the V-BLAST receiver with multistage processing for MIMO MC-CDMA systems with chip level interleaving. The system performance of the proposed MPN-PPIC receiver is evaluated through computer simulations.
