The exponential growth of Web users requires the web serves with high expandability and reliability. It leads to the excessive transmission traffic and system overload problems. To solve these problems, cluster systems are widely studied. In conventional cluster systems, when the request size is large owing to such types as multimedia and CGI, the particular server load and response time tend to increase even if the overall loads are distributed evenly. In this paper, a cluster system is proposed where each Web server in the system has different contents and loads are distributed efficiently using the Web server resource information such as CPU, memory and disk utilization. Web servers having different contents are mutually connected and managed with a network file system to maintain information consistency required to support resource information updates, deletions, and additions. Load unbalance among contents group owing to distribution of contents can be alleviated by reassignment of Web servers. Using a simulation method, we showed that our method shows up to $50\%$ about average throughput and processing time improvement comparing to systems using each LC method and RR method.

As demands increase for the Infotainment System, the Multimedia Networking technology for automobile, called MOST(Media Oriented Systems Transport), has been actively applied to the automobile industry, to meet the demands of the Infotainment System. The MOST25 network technology is being restrictively equipped with some of the car models but the problems withbandwidth and compatibility has arisen. In order to solve this, the MOST150 technology has been developed and further research is being carried out to applythe technology to the automobile industry. Thus, for the effective process of the Ethernet traffic in the realization of MOST150/Ethernet Gateway for automobile, we, in the research, shall analyse the Management Mapping method, including the MOST150's Isochronous channel, the MOST Ethernet Packet Channel, and etc. and study the efficient algorithm.

Camera-captured car plate images contain much variation and noise and the character images in a plate are typically very small. We attempted to improve the plate identification efficiency suitable for this undesirable condition. We experimented various image preprocessing and feature extracting methods and the very effective features that can compensate one feature's limitation is determined through extensive experiments. Finally two very effective features that can complement the limitations of each other feature(classifier) are determined and the efficiency is proved by recognition experiments. This approach is very necessary when handling plate character images which are typically small, various, and noisy. Individual classification result, confidence factor, region name relation and feedback verification are comprehensively considered to enhance the overall recognition efficiency. The efficiency of our method is verified by a recognition experiment using real car plate images taken from traffic roads.
With the rapid advancement of mobile communication, mobile devices are evolving into convergence devices with various multimedia capabilities. But, high performance of devices demands complicated settings, and thus contains latent error possibilities, and poor system performance caused by the collision of different softwares. To solve these problems, device management becomes an important issue. Open Mobile Alliance(OMA) developed OMA DM(Device Management), which is a device management standard. Recently released OMA DM v1.2 provides improved mobile device management methods compared to earlier versions. This paper introduces design and implementation of OMA DM v1.2 based management agent. By using Tree and Description Serialization(TNDS) for acquiring, adding, and editing objects in the mobile devices, it provides more effective device management with small amount of network traffic.
Continuous multimedia applications require a guaranteed retricval and transfer rate of streaming data, which conventional file server mechanism generally does not provide. In this paper we describe a dynamic negotiated admission control and dick bandwidth scheduling framework for Continuous Media (CM : e.g., video) servers. The framework consists of two parts. One is a reserve-based admission control mechanism and the other part is a scheduler for continuous media streams with dynamic resource allocation to achieve higher utilization than non-dynamic scheduler by effectively sharing available resources among contending streams to improve overall QoS. Using our policy, we could increase the number of simultaneously running: clients that coo]d be supported and cot]d ensure a good response ratio and better resource utilization under heavy traffic requirements.

In this paper, we proposed two kids of dynamic priority control mechanisms controlling the cell service ratio in order to improve the QOS(Quality of Service). We also analyse theoretically the characteristics of cell loss probability and mean cell delay time by applying the proposed priority control mechanisms to ATM switch with output buffer. The proposed priority control mechanisms have the same principles of storing cells into buffer but the different principles of serving cells from buffer. The one is the control mechanism controlling the cell service ratio according to the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer, the other is the control mechanism controlling the cell service ratio according to both the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer and the average arrival rate. The two service classes of our concern are the delay sensitive class and the loss sensitive class. The analytical results show that the proposed control mechanisms are able to improve the QOS, the characteristics of cell loss probability and mean cell delay time, by selecting properly the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer and the average arrival rate. conventional DLB algorithm does not support synchronous cells, but the proposed algorithm gives higher priority to synchronous cells. To reduce synchronous cell loss rate, the synchronous cell detector is used in the proposed algorithm. Synchronous cell detector detects synchronous cells, and passes them cells to the 2nd Leaky-Bucket. So it is similar to give higher priority to synchronous cells. In this paper, the proposed algorithm used audio/video traffic modeled by On/Off and Two-state MMPP, and simulated by SLAM II package. As simulation results, the proposed algorithm gets lower synchronous cell loss rate than the conventional DLB algorithms. The improved DLB algorithm for multimedia synchronization can be extended to any other cells which require higher priority.

Cloud computing has recently become an attractive solution for massively multiplayer online games(MMOGs), as it lifts operators from the burden of buying and maintaining hardware. Peer-to-peer(P2P) -based solutions present several advantages, including the inherent scalability, self-repairing, and natural load distribution capabilities. We propose a hybrid architecture for MMOGs that combines technological advantages of two different paradigms, P2P and cloud computing. An efficient and effective provisioning of resources and mapping of load are mandatory to realize an architecture that scales in economical cost and quality of service to large communities of users. As the number of simultaneous players keeps growing, the hybrid architecture relieves a lot of computational power and network traffic, the load on the servers in the cloud by exploiting the capacity of the peers. For MMOGs, besides server time, bandwidth costs represent a major expense when renting on-demand resources. Simulation results show that by controlling the amount of cloud and user-provided resource, the proposed hybrid architecture can reduce the bandwidth at the server while utilizing enough bandwidth of players.

In recent, ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band that is 2.4GHz band authorized free of charge is being widely used for smart phone, notebook computer, printer and portable multimedia devices. Accordingly, studies have been continuously conducted on the possibility of coexistence among nodes using ISM band. In particular, the interference of IEEE 802.11b based Wi-Fi device using overlapping channel during communication among IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor nodes suitable for low-power, low-speed communication using ISM band causes serious network performance deterioration of wireless sensor networks. This paper examined a method of identifying channel status to avoid interference among wireless communication devices using IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi) and other ISM bands during communication among IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor network nodes in ISM band. To identify channels occupied by Wi-Fi traffic, various studies are being conducted that use the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) value of interference signal obtained through ED (Energy Detection) feature that is one of IEEE 802.15.4 transmitter characteristics. This paper examines an algorithm that identifies the possibility of using more accurate channel by mixing utilization of interference signal and RSSI mean value of interference signal by wireless sensor network nodes. In addition, it verifies such algorithm by using OPNET Network verification simulator.
As multimedia contents demand and supply increase, internet traffic around the world increases. Several standardization groups are striving to establish more efficient compression standards to mitigate the problem. In particular, research to introduce deep learning technology into compression standards is actively underway. Despite the fact that deep learning-based technologies show high performance, they suffer from the domain gap problem when test video sequences have different characteristics of training video sequences. To this end, several methods have been made to introduce content-adaptive deep video compression. In this paper, we will look into these methods by three aspects: codec information-aware methods, model selection methods, and information signaling methods.
