  • This study examined the effect and structural relationship of math teachers' teaching ability and class activity types on learners' value perception, confidence, and interest of mathematics at the student level and teacher level. To this end, data from 2nd graders of korea middle school in TIMSS 2019 were applied to the multilevel structural equation model. As a result of the analysis, the teaching ability of math teachers had a positive effect on value perception, confidence, and interest of mathematics at the student level and teacher level. Also, math value perception and math confidence had a positive effect on math interest. and it was confirmed that the teaching ability of math teachers indirectly had a positive effect on math interest by mediating math value perception and math confidence. In addition, the math class activity of applying what was learned to problems had a positive effect on math value perception, but it had a negative effect on math interest. and the class activity of the same ability group had a positive effect on math confidence and math interest. This study presents meaningful implications for math classes in the school field through a multilevel analysis of the student level and the teacher level.

  • The fundamental concerns of this paper are to analyze the effects of student course evaluation using subject characteristic and student characteristic variables. We use a 2-level hierarchical linear model since the data structure of subject characteristic and student characteristic variables is multilevel. Four models we consider are as follows; (1) null model, (2) random coefficient model, (3) mean as outcomes model, (4) intercepts and slopes as outcomes model. The results of the analysis were given as follows. First, the result of null model was that subject characteristics effects on course evaluation had much larger than student characteristics. Second, the result of conditional model specifying subject and student level predictors revealed that class size, grade, tenure, mean GPA of the class, native class for level-1, and sex, department category, admission method, mean GPA of the student for level-2 had statistically significant effects on course evaluation. The explained variance was 13% in subject level, 13% in student level.

  • The causes and effects of intra-urban spatial inequality have received much scholarly attention. However, the effects of urban spatial inequality on resident perceptions and the mechanisms through which it is sustained and reproduced remain mostly unknown. This study aimed to investigate whether regional deprivation, the relative socioeconomic standing of a region, affects the residents' perceptions of upward social mobility. By employing the ordinal logistic multilevel model to analyze nested data collected from Seoul, South Korea, this study found that the regional deprivation has a significant negative effect on residents' perception of upward social mobility. The results of this study suggest that one way in which spatial inequality is sustained and reproduced is by the effects of regional deprivation, having negative impacts on the aspirations and socioeconomic activities of residents. This study is expected to provide meaningful implications for planning and policy aimed to combat spatial inequality.

  • Multilevel and Multivariate Structural Equation Mpdel is applied to handle the hierarchical nature of the data and explain complex relationship among socioeconomic factors of individuals and household, activity participation, and travel behavior using Puset Sound Transportation Panel data. From analysis, variations of individual activity participation and travel behavior can be divided into two categories : Within-household variation and Between-households variation. Empirical results show that the interdependency index(p) of variables for household members within a household is between 0.13 and 0.33 indicating high interdependency. These results suggest that Multilevel and Multivariate SEM approach is an appropriate modeling methodology and gives additional information for activity participation and travel behavior. Also most of personal and household characteristics influence on activity participation and travel behavior within a household as well as between households.

  • In this paper we study the use of polyinstantiation for spatial data, for the purpose of solving cover in topology channel in multilevel secure spatial database systems. Spatial database system with topological structure has a number of spatial analysis function using spatial data and neighbored one\`s each other. But. it has problems that information flow is occurred by topological relationship in spatial database systems. Geographic Information System(CIS) must be needed mandatory access control because there ,are many information flow through positioning information And topological relationship between spatial objects. Moreover, most GIS applications also graphe user interface(GUI). In addressing these problems, we design the MLS/SRDM(Multi Level Security/Spatial Relational Data Model) and propose polyinstantiation for spatial data for solving information flow that occurred by toplogical relationship of spatial data.

  • This paper described a method for the construction of a surface through a set of nonuniform scattered points. When the shift vectors of some points as constraints on the original surface are given, those of the other points should be computed to make the new surface. To keep up the look-see and smoothness with the original surfaces, the proper relationship should be formulated between the shifts of the constraint points and those of the other points. Vector fields for 3 dimensional shift of a point on the surface are made based in the constraint shifts. Vector fields for 3 dimensional shift of a point on the surface are made based on the constraint shifts. Multilevel B-spline approximation technique was used to construct the vector field. The technique uses coarse-to-fine hierarchy of control lattices. The developed method was applied to shoe sole design system especially for grading. Using this system, a shoe sole can be modified effectively.

  • This paper examines the application of high voltage static var compensator(SVC) with cascade multilevel inverter which employs H-bridge inverter(HBI). To improve the unbalanced problem of the DC capacitor voltages, the rotated switching scheme of fundamental frequency is newly used. The optimized fundamental switching pattern with low switching frequency is adapted to be suitable for high application. The selective harmonic elimination method(SHEM) allows to keep the total harmonic distortion(THD) low in the output voltage of multilevel inverter. The SVC system is modeled using the d-q transform which calculates the instantaneous reactive power. This model is used to design a controller and analyze the SVC system. Simulated and experimental results are also presented and discussed to validate the proposed schemes.

  • This paper investigates occupational exposure to time-varying magnetic field generation in high power rectifier systems. Two different kinds of high power rectifier systems of 25kA are modeled and analyzed. The performance is compared and evaluated on the basis of exposure guidelines from ICNIRP. In order to focus on the qualitative effect of rectifier operation, the mechanical structure of current carrying conductors is simplified as infinite long bus-bar model and low frequency harmonic contents up to 65kHz are considered. Thyristor rectifier generates a significant amount of low frequency magnetic field harmonic contents both at ac and dc side of rectifier infringing the limit from ICNIRP. The multilevel rectifier-IGCT type has almost negligible field generation from ac input side and smaller harmonic contents in dc load side complying with ICNIRP guideline. This remarkable advantage of multilevel rectifier-IGCT type can lead to very simple site layout design for installation and cost-effective compliance to guideline of occupational exposure against magnetic field.

  • This paper presents an application of proportional-resonant (PR) current controllers in modular multilevel converter-high voltage direct current (MMC-HVDC) system under unbalanced voltage conditions. The ac currents are transformed and controlled in the stationary reference frame (${\alpha}{\beta}$-frame). Thus, the complex analysis of the positive and negative sequence components in the synchronous rotating reference frame (dq-frame) is not necessary. With this control method, the ac currents are kept balanced and the dc-link voltage is constant under the unbalanced voltage fault conditions. The simulation results based on a detailed PSCAD/EMTDC model confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
