  • In multi agent systems, various inter agent communication models have been proposed, and, especially, there are several group communication schemes proposed so far, where some schemes guarantees transparent communication among the agents. However, in mobile agent environments, we require new group communication schemes that consider topology changes caused by mobile agent migrations. Also, these group communication schemes should be secure in order for them to be practical. In this paper, we propose a secure group communication scheme using the hierarchical overlay ring structure of mobile agents. The proposed scheme uses the ring channel in order to cope adaptively with the change of ring topology. The ring channel has basic information for construction of the ring and is managed only by the mobile agent platforms. Therefore, each mobile agent need not directly handle the ring channel and it can perform group communication without any consideration on the change of the ring topology.

  • An interest-based P2P constructs the peer connections based on similarities for efficient search of resources. A clustering technique using peer similarities as data is an effective approach to group the most relevant peers. However, the separation of groups produced from clustering lowers the scalability of a P2P network. Moreover, the interest-based approach is only concerned with user-level grouping where topology-awareness on the physical network is not considered. This paper proposes an efficient scalable search for the interest-based P2P system. A scalable multi-ring (SMR) based on fuzzy clustering handles the grouping of relevant peers and the proposed scalable search utilizes the SMR for scalability of peer queries. In forming the multi-ring, a minimized route function is used to determine the shortest route to connect peers on the physical network. Performance evaluation showed that the SMR acquired an accurate peer grouping and improved the connectivity rate of the P2P network. Also, the proposed scalable search was efficient in finding more replicated files throughout the peer network compared to other traditional P2P approaches.

  • Multi-domain optical transport networks are not fundamentally interoperable and require an integrated orchestration mechanism and path provision mechanism at the entire network level. In addition, ensuring network survivability is one of the important issues. MPLS-TP (Multi-Protocol Label Switching-Transport Profile) defines various protection/recovery methods as standards, but does not mention how to calculate and select protection/recovery paths. Therefore, an algorithm that minimizes protection/recovery collisions at the optical circuit packet integrated network level and calculates and sets a path that can be rapidly protected/recovered over the entire integrated network area is required. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that calculates and sets up a path that can be rapidly protected and restored in a T-SDN network composed of multiple ring-mesh topology.

  • The important considerations in the design of fiber-optic networks are reliability and survivability preparing against a failure. The SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), the international standard of optical transmission, offers several network reconfiguration methods that enable network to be automatically restored from failure. One of the methods is the SHR(Self Healing Ring), which is a ring topology system. Most network providers have constructed their backbone networks with SHR architecture since it can provide survivability economically. The network architecture has eventually evolved into a multi-ring network comprised of interconnected rings. This paper addresses multi-ring network design problems is to minimize ring-construction cost. This problem can be formulated with MIP(mixed integer programming) model. However, it is difficult to solve the model within reasonable computing time on a large scale network because the model is NP-complete. Furthermore, in practice we should consider the problem of routing demands on rings to minimize total cost. This routing problem involves multiplex bundling at the intermediate nodes. A family of heuristic algorithms is presented for this problem. These algorithms include gateway selection and routing of inter-ring demands as well as load balancing on single rings. The developed heuristic algorithms are applied to some network provider's regional and long-distance transmission networks. We show an example of ring design and compare it with another ring topology design. Finally, we analysis the effect bundling.

  • In recent years the popularity of multi-hop wireless networks has been growing. Its flexible topology and abundant routing path enables many types of applications. However, the lack of a centralized controller often makes it difficult to design a reliable service in multi-hop wireless networks. While packet routing has been the center of attention for decades, recent research focuses on data discovery such as file sharing in multi-hop wireless networks. Although there are many peer-to-peer lookup (P2P-lookup) schemes for wired networks, they have inherent limitations for multi-hop wireless networks. First, a wired P2P-lookup builds a search structure on the overlay network and disregards the underlying topology. Second, the performance guarantee often relies on specific topology models such as random graphs, which do not apply to multi-hop wireless networks. Past studies on wireless P2P-lookup either combined existing solutions with known routing algorithms or proposed tree-based routing, which is prone to traffic congestion. In this paper, we present two wireless P2P-lookup schemes that strictly build a topology-dependent structure. We first propose the Ring Interval Graph Search (RIGS) that constructs a DHT only through direct connections between the nodes. We then propose the ValleyWalk, a loosely-structured scheme that requires simple local hints for query routing. Packet-level simulations showed that RIGS can find the target with near-shortest search length and ValleyWalk can find the target with near-shortest search length when there is at least 5% object replication. We also provide an analytic bound on the search length of ValleyWalk.

  • A multi-hop ad-hoc network can be formed out of Bluetooth capable devices through the use of scatternets. Many topologies can be deployed for scatternet; the most commonly proposed topology in the literature are tree structure and ring structure. We analyze the performance between tree formation algorithm and ring formation algorithm. We then present quantative result that compare the expected traffic performance between Blutooth ring scatternet and Bluetooth tree scatternet. The simulation results showes that Ring structure of scatterent have good performance than Tree structure over mobile environments.

  • In this paper, we consider ring embeding problem in faulty (n,k) star graphs which is recently proposed as an alternative interconnection network topology, By effectively utilizing such strategies as series of dimension expansions and even distribution of faulty nodes into sub-stars in graph itself. we prove that it is possible to construct a maximal fault-free ring excluding only faulty nodes when the number of faults is no more than n-3 and $n-k{\geq}2$, and also propose an algorithm which can embed the corresponding ring in (n.k)-star graphs This results will be applied into the multicasting applications that the underlying cycle properties on the multi-computer system.

  • Token ring systems which control to switch the data stream of networks by passing the token have been widely used to medium access controls in many ring or bus topology LANs. The system could be modeled for analysis as single-server-multi-queue system of the cyclic service method. These concepts could be expanded to multi-token ring systems interconnected with single ring consisting of bridges implemented simply to be stored and transmitted. In the proposal for the performance analysis of the interconnected token ring system, in has been assumed M/G/1 queueing model that frame arrivals are the Poisson process at each station queue and frame sizes are independently and identically distributed. And the average time delays were analyzed mathematically for arbitrary frame transferred from source station to destination area. The time delay of the frame transmission could be explained as the sum of the average time which the token passed from arbitrary position to source station, such as the waiting time in the source station transferring the previous arrival frames, and the propagation time from source station to interdestinated point. These delays were given as the sum of the duration from inner and outer bridge queues, the time delays from inner and outer bridge queues, and the time from outer bridge queue to destination station. These results were investigated by varing parameters effected to total time delays. In the results, those factors to be effected to dominant the total time delays were increased were in the cases of the high arrival rates and the high ration of destination of the other outerring. The system were shown the time delays increased exponentially in spite of the priority service policy. In order to decreasing the number of outerrings and increasing the number of nodes in backbone relatively, so the systems could be decreased the total delay in the interconnected token ring system.

  • The three-dimensional spatial structures of impeller flow created by a six bladed Rushton turbine have identified based on the volumetric velocity information from multi-plane stereoscopic PIV measurements. A total of 10 planes with 2 mm space with a 50 mm by 64 mm size of the field of view were targeted. To reduce the depth of focus, we adopted an angle offset configuration which satisfied the Scheimpflug condition. The distortion compensation procedure was utilized during the in situ calibration. Phase-locked instantaneous data were ensemble averaged and interpolated in order to obtain mean 3-D, volumetric velocity fields on a 60 degree sector of a cylindrical ring volume enclosing the turbine blade. Using the equi-vorticity surface rendering, the spatial structure of the trailing vortices was clearly demonstrated. Detail flow characteristics of the radial jet reported in previous studies of mixer flows were easily identified.
