This study is constructed to investigate the sloshing effect on the motions of a two-dimensional rectangular cylinder experimentally and numerically. The modes of motion under consideration are sway and roll, and also experimental cases are divided by two categories; 1-DoF roll motion and 2-DoF motion (Coupling sway and roll). It is found that the sway response is considerably affected by the motion of the fluid, particularly near the sloshing natural frequency, while the roll response changes comparatively small. The dominant mode of motion is analyzed for 2-DoF experiments as well. The measured data for 1-DoF motions is compared with numerical results obtained by the Multi-modal approach. The numerical schemes vary in detail with the number of dominant sloshing modes; i.e. there is a single dominant mode for the Single-dominant method, while the Model 2 method assumes that the first two modes are superior. For the roll motion, numerical results obtained by the two different methods are relatively in good agreement with the experiments, and these two results are similar in most wave frequency range. However, the discrepancies are apparent where the fluid motion is not governed by a single mode. But both of numerical methods over-predict the motion at the vicinity of the sloshing natural frequency. In order to correct the discrepancy, the modal damping needs to be investigated more precisely. Furthermore, another multi-modal approach, such as the Boussinesq-type method, seems to be required in the region of the intermediate liquid.
Rph1 and Gisl are damage-responsive repressors involved in PHR1 expression. They have two $C_{2}$H/ sub 2/ zinc finger motifs as putative DNA binding domains and N-terminal conserved domain with unknown function. They are also found in the human retinoblastoma binding protein 2 and the mouse jumonji- encoded protein. The repressors are able to bind to A $G_{4}$ sequence within a 39-bp sequence called upstream repressing sequence of PHR1 promoter (UR $S_{PHR1}$) responsible for the damage-response of PHR1. We report here that Rph1 is predominantly localized in the nucleus as examined by fluorescence microscopic analysis with GFP-Rph1 fusion protein. On the basis of the fact that the A $G_{4}$ sequence that is recognized by Rph1 and Gisl is also recognized by Msn2 and Msn4 in a process of stress response, we a1so tried to examine the in vivo function of A $G_{4}$ and the role of Msn2 and Msn4 in PHR1 expression. Our results demonstrate that Msn2 and Msn4 are actually required for the basal transcription of PHR1 expression but not for its damage induction. When A $G_{4}$ sequence was inserted into the minimal promoter of the cyc1-LacZ reporter, the increased LacZ expression was observed indicating its involvement in transcriptional activation. The data suggest that the A $G_{4}$ is primarily required for basal transcriptional activation of PHR1 or CYC1 promoter through the possible involvement of Msn2 and Msn4. However, since the A $G_{4}$ is also involved in the repression of PHR1 via Rphl and Gisl, it is proposed that A $G_{4}$ functions as either URS or upstream activating sequence (UAS) depending on the promoter context.t.
This study presents the findings of the experiments that were conducted on single- and multi-stage solvent extractors using the stimulus-response method, with the am of identifying flow characteristics of the material inside the mixer-settler-type extractor. The results of this study show that the response characteristics of a single-stage mixer is the same as that of a completely stirred tank reactor (CSTR), and that the lag time of a mixer-settler-type extractor increases with the number of its extraction stages. The experimental data for the single- and multiple-stage extractors were analyzed using K-RTD, a response analysis program, to obtain a retention time distribution (RTD) model of one-stage and four-stage extractors. The correlation coefficient between the calculated values and the experimental data was 0.963 for the one-stage extractor and 0.995 for the four-stage extractor, showing quite a good correlation.

Improving the speed of image processing is in great demand according to spread of high quality visual media or massive image applications such as 3D TV or movies, AR(Augmented reality). SIMD computer attached to a host computer can accelerate various image processing and massive data operations. MAMS is a multi-access memory system which is, along with multiple processing elements(PEs), adequate for establishing a high performance pipelined SIMD machine. MAMS supports simultaneous access to pq data elements within a horizontal, a vertical, or a block subarray with a constant interval in an arbitrary position in an $M{\times}N$ array of data elements, where the number of memory modules(MMs), m, is a prime number greater than pq. MAMS-PP4 is the first realization of the MAMS architecture, which consists of four PEs in a single chip and five MMs. This paper presents implementation of image processing algorithms and performance analysis for MAMS-PP16 which consists of 16 PEs with 17 MMs in an extension or the prior work, MAMS-PP4. The newly designed MAMS-PP16 has a 64 bit instruction format and application specific instruction set. The author develops a simulator of the MAMS-PP16 system, which implemented algorithms can be executed on. Performance analysis has done with this simulator executing implemented algorithms of processing images. The result of performance analysis verifies consistent response of MAMS-PP16 through the pyramid operation in image processing algorithms comparing with a Pentium-based serial processor. Executing the pyramid operation in MAMS-PP16 results in consistent response of processing time while randomly response time in a serial processor.

Service platform which can offer various multimedia communication as the video, audio, voice and data is IMS(IP Multi-Media Subsystem). It is effective in the company is introducing only such convergence IMS services to be required to provide various multimedia services at the lowest cost and existing communication environment while keeping the maximum Therefore, in this study, we had developed IMS 코어 main system that not more than 1,000 employees of companies can effectively establish IMS solutions. This system is located at the middle between IMS terminal and CSCF(Call Session Control Function) in line with IMS services and provides CSCF in response to the IMS terminal and IMS terminal in response to the CSCF. As well, corded telephone and SIP phone which were used as terminal is linked with gateway.
In recent engineering, the designer has become more and more dependent on computer simulation. But defining exact model using computer simulation is too expensive and time consuming in the complicate systems. Thus, designers often use approximation models, which express the relation between design variables and response variables. These models are called metamodel. In this paper, we introduce one of the metamodel, named Kriging. This model employs an interpolation scheme and is developed in the fields of spatial statistics and geostatistics. This class of interpolating model has flexibility to model response data with multiple local extreme. By reason of this multi modality, we can't use any gradient-based optimization algorithm to find global extreme value of this model. Thus we have to introduce global optimization algorithm. To do this, we introduce DE(Differential Evolution). DE algorithm is developed by Ken Price and Rainer Storn, and it has recently proven to be an efficient method for optimizing real-valued multi-modal objective functions. This algorithm is similar to GA(Genetic Algorithm) in populating points, crossing over, and mutating. But it introduces vector concept in populating process. So it is very simple and easy to use. Finally, we show how we determine Kriging metamodel and find global extreme value through two mathematical examples.
1. Objectives This study aims to evaluate newly developing Sasang Constitution Diagnosis Questionnaire for accuracy and efficiency. 2. We have selected 30 questions from 61 questions by comparing total data from 4 multi centers with those of each center. Thirty questions are made up of 10 body shape questions, 10 appearance questions, 5 character questions and 5 symptom questions. 3. Conclusions There might be needs for revision of character and symptom questions. From results, we suggest to diagnose Sasang Constitution for screening by short-form questionnaire consisted of questions on body shapes and appearances.
Wireless smart sensor networks (WSSNs) have been proposed by a number of researchers to evaluate the current condition of civil infrastructure, offering improved understanding of dynamic response through dense instrumentation. As focus moves from laboratory testing to full-scale implementation, the need for multi-hop communication to address issues associated with the large size of civil infrastructure and their limited radio power has become apparent. Multi-hop communication protocols allow sensors to cooperate to reliably deliver data between nodes outside of direct communication range. However, application specific requirements, such as high sampling rates, vast amounts of data to be collected, precise internodal synchronization, and reliable communication, are quite challenging to achieve with generic multi-hop communication protocols. This paper proposes two complementary reliable multi-hop communication solutions for monitoring of civil infrastructure. In the first approach, termed herein General Purpose Multi-hop (GPMH), the wide variety of communication patterns involved in structural health monitoring, particularly in decentralized implementations, are acknowledged to develop a flexible and adaptable any-to-any communication protocol. In the second approach, termed herein Single-Sink Multi-hop (SSMH), an efficient many-to-one protocol utilizing all available RF channels is designed to minimize the time required to collect the large amounts of data generated by dense arrays of sensor nodes. Both protocols adopt the Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol, which provides any-to-any routing and multi-cast capability, and supports a broad range of communication patterns. The proposed implementations refine the routing metric by considering the stability of links, exclude functionality unnecessary in mostly-static WSSNs, and integrate a reliable communication layer with the AODV protocol. These customizations have resulted in robust realizations of multi-hop reliable communication that meet the demands of structural health monitoring.
Our laboratory originally developed the compact, multi-spectral, automatic aerial photographic system PKNU3 to allow greater flexibility in geological and environmental data collection. We are currently developing the PKNU3 system, which consists of a color-infrared spectral camera capable of simultaneous photography in the visible and near-infrared bands; a thermal infrared camera; two computers, each with an 80-gigabyte memory capacity for storing images; an MPEG board that can compress and transfer data to the computers in real-time; and the capability of using a helicopter platform. Before actual aerial photographic testing of the PKNU3, we experimented with each sensor. We analyzed the lens distortion, the sensitivity of the CCD in each band, and the thermal response of the thermal infrared sensor before the aerial photographing. As of September 2004, the PKNU3 development schedule has reached the second phase of testing. As the result of two aerial photographic tests, R, G, B and IR images were taken simultaneously; and images with an overlap rate of 70% using the automatic 1-s interval data recording time could be obtained by PKNU3. Further study is warranted to enhance the system with the addition of gyroscopic and IMU units. We evaluated the PKNU 3 system as a method of environmental remote sensing by comparing each chlorophyll image derived from PKNU 3 photographs. This appraisement was backed up with existing study that resulted in a modest improvement in the linear fit between the measures of chlorophyll and the RVI, NDVI and SAVI images stem from photographs taken by Duncantech MS 3100 which has same spectral configuration with MS 4000 used in PKNU3 system.

The target classification for ballistic target(BT) is one of the most critical issues of ballistic defence mode(BDM) in multi-function radar(MFR). Radar responds to the target according to the result of classifying BT and air breathing target(ABT) on BDM. Since the efficiency and accuracy of the classification is closely related to the capacity of the response to the ballistic missile offense, effective and accurate classification scheme is necessary. Generally, JEM(Jet Engine Modulation), HRR(High Range Resolution) and ISAR(Inverse Synthetic Array Radar) image are used for a target classification, which require specific radar waveform, data base and algorithms. In this paper, the classification method that is applicable to a MFR system in a real environment without specific waveform is proposed. The proposed classifier adopts kinematic data as a feature vector to save radar resources at the radar time and hardware point of view and is implemented by fuzzy logic of which simple implementation makes it possible to apply to the real environment. The performance of the proposed method is verified through measured data of the aircraft and simulated data of the ballistic missile.
