  • This study discusses on the historical origin of audience movement in Korea. Most relevant studies suggest that the audience movement in Korea originated from the struggle against the Press Ethics Committee in 1964. But, this paper attempts to trace some historical cases before that time. This study analyze two historical cases in the beginning period of modern newspaper in Korea. One is the setting fire of Bakmunguk(office building of Hansung-Sunbo, the first modern newspaper in Korea) in 1884. It was caused by the anti-Japan recognition of the public, who thought that the Hansung-Sunbo was influenced by Japan in many respects. The other is the donation campaign by readers to aid the newspapers which were in a financial predicament. It was carried for the Hwangsung-Shinmun in 1903 and for the Jeguk-Shinmun in 1907. This study suggests that we may regard these two historical cases as seminal forms of audience movement, and argues that the historical origin of audience movement in Korea can be traced to the beginning period of modern newspaper.

  • Numerous studies have been reported on the movement of the jaw during chewing. However, there is still much controversy. The purposes of this study were to observe the jaw movement during mastication and to provide the information in prosthodontic treatment and diagnosis of temporomandibular disorder. The author analyzed the time and characteristics of the masticatory movement during chewing using mandibular kinesiograph in 24 subjects, 17 males 7 females, age of 22-27 without orofacial problems. The obtained results were as follows: The duration of single chewing cycle was $515{\pm}87msec.$. Comparing the three phases of the chewing cycle (opening, closing, centric pause), the closing phase had the longest duration, and the centric pause had the shortest duration. The maximal laterotrusive movement of the mandible druing chewing was $3.5{\pm}1mm$. The maximal mediotrusive movement of the mandible during chewing was $1.0{\pm}0.7mm$. The maximal vertical velocity of the mandible during chewing was $120{\pm}28mm/sec.$ in opening phase, and $109{\pm}21mm/sec.$ in closing phase.

  • The pattern of urban transport activity has two major components: the movement of people and the movement of goods. Roads in urban areas carry large number of trucks laden with goods that support urban economy and lifestyle. Therefore urban goods movement plays a vital role, but at the same time, urban goods movement are an important source of congestion, and a major contributor to the adverse environmental and social impacts of urban transport. In addition, the demand for goods movement is growing at a faster rate than personal travel in many cities, due to changes in industry logistics and consumer purchasing patterns. As a result, the significance of urban freight activity is increasing in terms of both its role in urban economy and its adverse impacts on urban amenity. This study is focused on the role and involvement scope of metropolitan government in urban logistics aimed at increasing its efficiency and reducing its negative impacts. The major suggestions of this study are (a) development of a measure of urban goods movement activity, (b) evaluation of data requirements and availability, (c) dialogue between the public sector and private sector, and (d) the role of metropolitan government.

  • Three dacades of time have passed since the Korean labour movement experimented its political empowerment struggle. Generally it has failed for all some positive results. But unfortunately there were no critical and intellectual reflections regarding the failure within the labour movement. This study drew three conclusions. Firstly, the success or failure of political experiments was caused mainly by the labour regime changes of the Korean society. Secondly, the motive power was provided not by the progressive party, the Democratic Labour Party, but by the trade union movement and organization, the Minjoonochong. Lastly, the Candle-Light revolution in 2016 has produced some new conditions for the second stage of political empowerment praxis in Korean labour movement.

  • This study designed a data model linked to Wikidata and examined its applicability to increase the utilization of the digital archive records of the National Debt Redemption Movement, registered as World Memory Heritage, and implications were derived by analyzing the existing metadata, thesaurus, and semantic network graph. Through analysis of the original text of the National Debt Redemption Movement records, key data model classes for linking with Wikidata, such as record item, agent, time, place, and event, were derived. In addition, by identifying core properties for linking between classes and applying the designed data model to actual records, the possibility of acquiring abundant related information was confirmed through movement between classes centered on properties. Thus, this study's result showed that Wikidata's strengths could be utilized to increase data usage in local archives where the scale and management of data are relatively small. Therefore, it can be considered for application in a small-scale archive similar to the National Debt Redemption Movement digital archive.

  • The temperature variation of concrete pavement at early-age significantly affects the initiation and movement of joint cracks. For this analysis, we have built on IIA(Incheon International Airport) concrete pavement construction zone, and we measured the temperature and movement of the concrete slabs by using thermocouples, moisture sensors, V/W strain gages, and Demac discs. The analysis results showed that pavement's temperature significantly affected the joint movement. The widths of the joint cracks increased at evening and early in the morning when the temperature dropped but, those decreased in the day time when the temperature rose because of the effect of thermal expansion of the concrete slabs. The movements of the joints where the cracks never developed showed opposite trend to the cracked joints.

  • As buildings have been constructed higher and more complicated recently, the activities of the residents occurred in those multiplex buildings have also become more various. As a result, possibility and the size of the damage from the disaster like a fire are getting larger. So, many studies for preventing the damage in refuge situation are being conducted. In this study, a new process for finding the optimum refuge path is presented, which is different from existing methods. This new method operates by using the human movement detection system in the building for real time. And the process also shows the new way which can shorten the number of calculation for deciding the optimum refuge path. That new way is to make variables such as the velocity of smoke and person movement into a constant. Finally it will be applied to a multiplex building.

  • In this paper, we propose a practical method for setting up a daily production plan which can operate semiconductor fabrication factories more stably and linearly by determining work in process (WIP) targets and movement targets. We first adjust cycle times of the operations to satisfy the monthly production plan. Second, work in process (WIP) targets are determined to control the production progress of operations: earliness and tardiness. Third, movement targets are determined to reduce cumulated differences between WIP targets and actual WIPs. Finally, the determined movement targets are modified through a simulation model which considers capacities of the equipments and allocations of the WIPs in the fab. The proposed daily production planning method can be easily adapted to the memory semiconductor fabs because the method is very simple and has straightforward logics. Although the proposed method is simple and straightforward, the power of the method is very strong. Results from the shop floor in past few periods showed that the proposed methodology gives a good performance with respect to the productivity, workload balance, and machine utilization. We can expect that the proposed daily production planning method will be used as a useful tool for operating semiconductor fabrication factories more efficiently and effectively.
