The concept of food and beverage space in modern society is changing into complex space where various experiences are provided. With the increase of food service brands, those brands are getting standardized. Providing more differentiated experience and service became an element of competition to companies. The flagship stores among stores presented by companies have much influence on promotion and sales. Thus, it would be necessary to provide integrated service by adopting service design process for the differentiated design of such experiential space. The objective of this study is to examine the satisfaction of service design of food and beverage flagship stores. By creating a checklist to evaluate the space through the theoretical consideration of flagship stores and service design, the satisfaction of service design of food and beverage flagship stores was analyzed. Through the survey with users of the case space, it was possible to check the satisfaction of the service design elements applied to the food and beverage flagship store space. The satisfaction with service design was evaluated through the 5point scale. When the average point was high, the satisfaction with service design elements was high. In the results of the analysis, regarding the spatial composition of flagship stores, the overall interior/exterior atmosphere should contain the image of the company. As flagship stores compose space that can express various event space and company itself on top of the space for sales, they should present the spatial composition differentiated from other general commercial spaces. The significance of a study on service design of flagship stores is to show positive effect on flagship store space. In the future, it would be necessary to have comparative analysis on domestic and foreign cases applied with the service design process, and also to analyze the strategies in the aspect of service design.
This study started from the concern for Bjrake Ingels, an emerging architect in the architecture circle, who is creative and popular. Recently, the architecture field provides architects with a foundation to express a process on a new form creation through various new expressive languages, design concepts, and methods. The global Danish group BIG(Bjarke Ingels Group) develops a story by their distinctive architectural language. The storytelling is being used in various fields and now the tool called 'story' is settling down as an important element in the life that human lives. Bjarke Ingels leading the group BIG aims for the form expression by the scientific analysis and adaptation after being affected by Danish regional background and OMA. It creates a form to share stories with local members by visually simplifying the region, culture, environment, social phenomenon, economy, and politics that are invisible and do not have the form in the modern society. The elements and expressive features of the space storytelling include locality, cultural, natural environment, and connectivity which are the content structure(story) that enables you to intervene in the story according to the main agent to imagine a new space. The expressive element includes the watching moving line story of the successive, hierarchical, and organic structures which are constructive elements creating various spaces through the mixture, transmutability, and relocation of the program and inducing users to the space. The space storytelling is composed of the symbolism, community, and eco-friendliness to appear diversely through BIG's case analysis. This study will have significance that it drew a method and feature looked at by many contemporary architects from the storytelling viewpoint in the form-creating process, classified the form-creating process through a new storytelling type, and showed a possibility on the development of various methodologies.
The Main hall of the contemporary church has been used ineffectively. Therefore the purpose of this study is to search various ways of using this space of the contemporary church, which was restricted only to worshiping purposes, and to propose this idea to the local community. This research is based on the modern theology which insists on the responsibility of the church in its local community. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. The subjects of this study were 360 pastors, members of churches and local residents. The interviews were carried out from october 8th. 2003. to March 29n0. 2004. The results are as follows: 1) pastors, members of churches and local residents are for the relationship between church and community. 2) Multi-functional plans of spaces in main hall are recommended to provide cultural activities such as concerts, plays, funerals and marriage ceremonies, etc. 3) In building or reconstructing a church, functions for community service and programs to maximize the use of church facilities must be considered in the plans.
Modern cities' paradigm is rapidly changing to evolve into multi-functional spaces including living space, culture, welfare and environment. Therefore, upon these changing needs, the cultural images and the quality control became major issues in this area. This thesis will examine cultural contents development, a successful case-study, and the analysis of complex space development plan. These images reproduce new ' things ' throughout the ' semantic processes ' by those who experience and recognize them. Alvin Toffler describes it as the ' information bomb ' and ' image fragments ' in his talk about the new paradigm of information-oriented era. The increasing number of images and their accelerating rate of appearance imply that images become more momentary, and are evidence that they are transforming entire human life and consciousness. Such awareness means a lot to a designer. Especially, the subject that how modern space-dominating images are related to the structure and materials constituting the space and communicate with human mind will be an important factor in establishing the human-space relationship in the future. Furthermore, the present age overspread with various medium is not the only one privileged of the images that exist within space. They are the results of continuous expansion of existing images, and also process of evolution of space powered by the fusion of images and digital media. Imagified space is a boundary layer of Cyberspace, and the space itself becomes an interface by human recognition and participation. Now, the functional classification of spaces such as ' office, ' ' cafe, ' and ' school ' is meaningless. Whatever it may be, the function of a space is defined by the information it interfaces, and therefore it becomes an interface to information through a large number of images. Based on this idea, we will observe the imagificaiton of space in the form of discussion, and from that, try to understand the phenomenon through the real world examples.
Furniture has been developed in pursuit of human convenience and comfort, but nowadays it does not consider human users and gradually loses the essence of furniture. Especially furniture design that disregards the relation with space loses both the meaning and purpose of furniture. In this regards, it is necessary to understand the essence of furniture design and establish a design direction for future progress. Based on the relation between furniture and space, this paper intended to study on John Pawson's works that pursued the essence of design focusing on users, and propose a direction in a sense of real meaning for modern furniture design after exploring the characteristic of the furniture design of John Pawson. The study method of this paper was to investigate the design language of John Pawson and analyze his furniture in the morphological structural, functional, and material aspects. Based on such analysis, this study investigated the characteristics of the furniture design and found out what the core of the design that he pursued was. The scope of the study included the Independent Furniture that was restricted furniture collections of Driade and Spatial Furniture designed and installed at the stage of space construction. The study result showed that the design of John Pawson considered 'the suitability to a specific place' as important factor and furniture was planned at the stage of planning space. Each independent furniture defines all spaces in the morphological, lay-out and functional aspects of furniture and emphasizes their own property. As Spatial Furniture shares the function of spatial composition element, Pawson's furniture can be all called Spatial Furniture.
In recent years, as selling books on the internet becomes popular, the number of off-line bookstores are rapidly dwindling away. This change on the book market requires, the function and space of the bookstores should be defined again. Now bookstores are the places of experiences on cultures, world-views, and lifestyles around books. The study examines six large bookstores and finds three strategies of space expression as follow. First, Dominicanen bookstore in Maastricht which was built as a church has an expression which contrasts the old and the new as well as the sacred and the profane. Fangsuo bookstore in Chengdu creates a modern underground Sutra Depository. Here, people experience history and religion. Second, Cook & Book in Brussels has nine theme areas, each with a different selection of books, different interior decoration and special food and beverage like a theme park. Zhongshu bookshop in Shanghai has a lattice of nine reading rooms in which each unique design theme is characterized based on each book subject. Third, Cultura Bookstore in Sao Paulo is created to support social interchange. It leads people to the enormous plaza of books where people read books freely and participate in workshops, movies and all kinds of events. Daikanyama Tsutaya Books in Tokyo is composed of three white box-form pavilions which are connected by a 55-meter long aisle, called a magazine street. People walk along the street and choose concierge services as they browse magazines and books. The study finds out three strategies of design in current large bookstores to promote place-experience, which are the story-telling of history and culture, the design of theme parks, and openness for public mingling like plazas and streets. Thus, the study suggests a new paradigm in the design of bookstores in this internet age.
This research considered the city design and public arts theory. As a result, planning ability lacks in the existing mural arts. It were discovered to not coincide with the demands of time. This research attempted practical approach by expanding to public spaces rather than being limited to artistic section. For one of the case, the mural of Jurye Girl's Middle School located in Busan was selected. As a result, the mural that included culture discovered that mural matches well with city's public environment. We conducted survey. 107 participants was randomly selected as students and neighbors in Jure girl's middle school. The results of it reveals that environmentally friendly tendency and cultural implication are relatively higher than others. Mural arts have been focused as space where people live along with the progress of civilization and development of our society. It is important how the relationship between modern public environment space and mural arts shall harmonize. This research proposes social values that can replace the special mood by adding vitalization and liveliness to public environment through various mural contents.
Contemporary fashion companies have been planning marketing strategies that can promote brands and products more effectively for satisfying consumers' increasingly diversified needs. For this reason, retail spaces have continued to evolve and the modern concept of pop-up stores appeared through this process. Therefore, the object of this study was to research domestic pop-up fashion store cases by collecting article data. These data are from Internet fashion-specialty sites and analyze the types and characteristics of pop-up fashion stores by providing basic information that will be useful in the pop-up fashion stores of companies when they establish their marketing strategies. This study utilized the content analysis method and derived the results by using SPSS Statistics. As a result of this study, the type of "pop-up fashion stores opening in distribution enterprises" comprised the highest percentage of the whole store types and the pop-up fashion stores' management purposes were focused on product introduction, promotion, and market testing. As time passed, not only did pop-up fashion stores' growth rate increased, but also the types of pop-up fashion stores have become more diverse. In other words, contemporary fashion companies are utilizing more pop-up fashion stores as a marketing strategy than before. However, due to the short history of domestic pop-up fashion stores, the variety of research is still insufficient, so more extensive research on pop-up fashion stores is required.
