Implementation of Precise Drone Positioning System using Differential Global Positioning System (차등 위성항법 보정을 이용한 정밀 드론 위치추적 시스템 구현)

  • This paper proposes a precise drone-positioning technique using a differential global positioning system (DGPS). The proposed system consists of a reference station for error correction data production, and a mobile station (a drone), which is the target for real-time positioning. The precise coordinates of the reference station were acquired by post-processing of received satellite data together with the reference station location data provided by government infrastructure. For the system's implementation, low-cost commercial GPS receivers were used. Furthermore, a Zigbee transmitter/receiver pair was used to wirelessly send control signals and error correction data, making the whole system affordable for personal use. To validate the system, a drone-tracking experiment was conducted. The results show that the average real-time position error is less than 0.8 m.

Fair Power Control Using Game Theory with Pricing Scheme in Cognitive Radio Networks

  • This paper proposes a payment-based power control scheme using non-cooperative game with a novel pricing function in cognitive radio networks (CRNs). The proposed algorithm considers the fairness of power control among second users (SUs) where the value of per SU' signal to noise ratio (SINR) or distance between SU and SU station is used as reference for punishment price setting. Due to the effect of uncertainty fading environment, the system is unable to get the link gain coefficient to control SUs' transmission power accurately, so the quality of service (QoS) requirements of SUs may not be guaranteed, and the existence of Nash equilibrium (NE) is not ensured. Therefore, an alternative iterative scheme with sliding model is presented for the non-cooperative power control game algorithm. Simulation results show that the pricing policy using SUs' SINR as price punishment reference can improve total throughput, ensure fairness and reduce total transmission power in CRNs.

A Study on Compatibility between DTV and CDMA System (DTV와 CDMA 시스템간의 양립성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Korea has made a plan to allocate CH 14~CH 51 (470 MHz~698 MHz) for DTV. This paper assumes that DTV operates on CH 51 (692 MHz~698 MHz) and CDMA system operates on CH 52 (698 MHz~704 MHz) in spare band. Minimum Coupling Loss (MCL) method to get protection distance and Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT) to get guard band through 5 % interference probability are used. The protection distance is required to be 665.67 km at close frequency offset of 698.625 MHz between DTV transmitter and CDMA Base Station (BS) receiver. The required guard band between DTV transmitter and CDMA Mobile Station (MS) receiver is 5 MHz for the worst case of rural environment. There is no serious impact between CDMA MS transmitter and DTV receiver. The required guard band between CDMA BS transmitter and DTV receiver is 6.25 MHz for the worst case of urban environment. The analysis results may offer a reference and be helpful for considering interference between DTV and other communication systems.

A Study on Precision Positioning Methods for Autonomous Mobile Robots Using VRS Network-RTK GNSS Module (VRS 네트워크-RTK GNSS 모듈을 이용한 자율 이동 로봇의 정밀 측위방법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a cost-effective system design and user-friendly approach for the key technological elements necessary to configure an autonomous mobile robot. To implement a high-precision positioning system using an autonomous mobile robot, we established a Linux-based VRS (virtual reference station)-RTK (real-time kinematic) GNSS (global navigation satellite system) system with NTRIP (Network Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol) client functionality. Notably, we reduced the construction cost of the GNSS positioning system by performing dynamic location analysis of the established system, without utilizing an RTK replay system. Dynamic location analysis involves sampling each point during the trajectory following of the autonomous mobile robot and comparing the location precision with ground-truth points. The proposed system ensures high positioning performance with fast sampling times and suggests a GPS waypoint system for user convenience. The centimeter-level precision GNSS information is provided at a 30Hz sampling rate, and the dead reckoning function ensures valid information even when passing through tall buildings and dense forests. The horizontal position error measured through the proposed system is 6.7cm, demonstrating a highly precise dynamic location measurement error within 10cm. The VRS network-RTK Linux system, which provides precise dynamic location information at a high sampling rate, supports a GPS waypoint planner function for user convenience, enabling easy destination setting based on GPS information.

  • This paper presents a practical method of realizing Differential GPS(DGPS) using an effective communication link. The DGPS technique is used to correct user's pseudorange measurements with trasmintted correction data from the reference station. An effective communication system is the key element for successful application of the DGPS. In this paper, a practical method for efficient data communication link for DGPS using mobile phone and TCP/IP protocol is presented. Its performance is verified via field test.

A Study on Development of Mobile LNG Yard Tractor Refueling Standards (이동식 LNG 야드트랙터 충전 기준 개발 연구)

  • As part of measures to reduce fine dust, the government is promoting a project to convert the fuel of Yard Tractors(YT, tractors operated at ports), from diesel to LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). While a port having a small number of yard tractors, it is not proper to construct a stationary LNG fueling station and supply LNG to YT due to a problem of BOG (Boil off gas) generation. Therefore, it is necessary to make a regulation and a standard on mobile LNG YT refueling station installation and inspection as an alternative. In this study, we have investigated domestic and foreign mobile LNG refueling cases and refueling standards, including the USA and Europe. In addition, we have suggested the risk reduction method according to the cause after investigation of the cause of LNG accidents. And last, based on the proposed risk reduction measures, we have proposed an amendment to the Regulation of the Urban Gas Business Law in Korea. The proposed mobile LNG YT refueling amendment of the Regulation includes ; maintenance of the safety distance from the protection facility, installation of an interlock device to prevent refueling in places other than the authorized place, installation of the identification system through biometrics, separation of the tank lorry and tow vehicle before refueling, checking the wheel fixed status of tank lorry before refueling, construction of the impounding area, safety measures before, during and after refueling, etc. The safety standards proposed in this study could be used as a reference in establishing standards for mobile LNG vehicle refueling in the near future.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the performance of multi-antenna techniques adopted for the IEEE 802.16m standard. Base station is equipped with 4 or 8 antennas, and each mobile station (MS) has 2, 4, 8 antennas. The number of MSs is 4, and MIMO modes 0, 1, and 4 are evaluated. For each mimo mode, various number of data streams can be implemented, and the selected number of streams in the paper corresponds to the parameters adopted for hardware implementation. The error performance of various mimo modes presented in this paper was used as reference performance to verify successful hardware implementation.

  • As the demand for precise navigation has increased, more focus is put on the precise positioning, RTK(Real Time Kinematics) which has been used in the surveying field. The Position of Single Reference Station RTK or two-way network RTK such as VRS (Virtual Reference Station) is accurate enough to be used as a main technology in land surveying, however its service area and number of users is limited and the users are assumed static. This characteristic is not suitable to the navigation, whose service target is infinite number of users moving over a wide area. One-way network RTK has recently been suggested as a solution for the precise navigation technique for the mobile user. This paper shows the performance prediction of the one-way network RTK such as MAC(Master-Auxiliary Concept), or FKP (Flachenkorrekturparameter). To show the performance variation by the rover position, we constructed a simulation data of users on the grid with 0.1 degree spacing between 36.5 and 37 degree latitude and between 127 and 127.5 degree longitude.

Implementation and Performance Analysis of Real-Time DGPS & RTK Error Correction Data Transmission System for Long-Distance in Mobile Environments (모바일 환경에서 DGPS 및 RTK 보정 데이터 실시간 장거리 전송 시스템의 구현 및 성능 분석)

  • DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) and RTK(Real time Kinematic) are in one of today's most widely used surveying techniques. However surveying with these techniques is restricted by the distance between reference and rover station, and it is difficult to process data in realtime by their own organizational limitation in precise measurement of positioning. To meet these new demands, in this paper, new DGPS and RTK correction data services through the Internet and PSTN(Public Switched Telephony Network) have been proposed. For this purpose, a DGPS and RTK error correction data transmission system is implemented for long-distance using the Internet and PSTN which allows a mobile user at which the rover receiver is located to receive the correction data from the reference in realtime, and analyzed and compared with DGPS and RTK performances by experiments through the Internet and PSTN for the distance and the time.

  • As the unlimited natural source of a country, radio waves are widely being used in the daily life toward knowledge based information society. Therefore it is necessary to provide a long term policy of radio waves management policies based on market situation to cope with rapidly changing wireless technology and effective use of radio resources. Literary survey and analysis were accomplished for the rules and regulations in the radio station approval system and post-approval policies for mobile communication service. In conclusion, this study propose an blanket radio approval policy as well as self declaration of conformity(SDoC) of radio waves technical regulation and advanced radio inspection procedure. This study has significance in providing reference for introducing deregulation policy in the radio communication imdustry.
