The radar method is becoming one of the major nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques for concrete structures. Numerical modeling of electromagnetic wave is needed to analyze radar measurement results and to study the influence of measurement parameters on the radar measurements. Finite difference-time domain (FD-TD) method is used to simulate electromagnetic wave propagation through concrete specimens. Three concrete specimens with a 19.1 mm rebar embedded at 40 mm, 60 mm, and 80 mm depth are modeled in 3-dimension. As results, 2-D image processing scheme of modeling data has been developed and applied to the imaging of steel bars inside concrete.
We reported on a high performance InGaAs/InAlAs metamorphic HEMT with 50 nm gate length on a GaAs substrate. The fabricated $50nm{\times}60{\mu}m$ MHEMT showed good DC and RF characteristics. Typical drain current density of 740 mA/mm and extrinsic transconductance(gm) of 1.02 S/mm were obtained with our devices. The current gain cut-off frequency(fT) and maximum oscillation frequency(fmax) obtained for the fabricated MHEMT device were 430 GHz and 406 GHz, respectively.

In this paper, millimeter-wave broadband MHEMT (Metamorphic High Electron Mobility Transistor) cascode amplifiers were designed and fabricated. The $0.1{\mu}m$ InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs MHEMT was fabricated for cascode amplifiers. The DC characteristics of MHEMT are 670 mA/mm of drain current density, 588 mS/mm of maximum transconductance. The current gain cut-off frequency($f_T$) is 139 GHz and the maximum oscillation frequency($f_{max}$) is 266 GHz. To prevent oscillation of the designed cascode amplifiers, a parallel resistor and capacitor were connected to the drain of common gate device. By using the CPW (Coplanar Waveguide) transmission line, the cascode amplifier was designed and matched for the broadband characteristics. The designed amplifier was fabricated by the MHEMT MMIC process that was developed through this research. As the results of measurement, the amplifier was obtained 3 dB bandwidth of 50.37 GHz between 20.76 to 71.13 GHz. Also, this amplifier represents the S21 gain with the average 7.07 dB gain in bandwidth and the maximum gain of 10.3 dB at 30 GHz.

We scrutinized the acoustic outputs from the 70 shock wave generators of the 15 product models whose technical documents were available, among the 46 ballistic extracorporeal shock wave therapeutic devices of 11 domestic and 6 foreign manufacturers, approved by the Minster of Food & Drug Safety (Rep. Korea). We found that the acoustic Energy Flux Density (EFD), the most popular exposure parameter, was different by up to 563.64 times among shock wave generators at their minimum output settings and by up to 74.62 times at their maximum settings. In the same product model, the EFD was shown to vary depending on shock wave transmitters by up to 81.82 times at its minimum output setting and by up to 46.15 times at its maximum setting. The lowest EFD 0.013 mJ/mm2 at the maximum output settings was much lower (2.1 %) than the maximum value 0.62 mJ/mm2 at the minimum settings. The Large acoustic output differences (tens to hundreds of times)from the therapeutic devices approved for the same clinical indications imply that their therapeutic efficacy & safety may not be assured. The findings suggest the regulatory authority to revise her guideline to give clearer criteria for clinical approval and equality in performance, and recommend the authority to initiate a post-approval surveillance as well as a test in conformance between the data in technical documents and the real acoustic outputs clinically used.
To determine the appropriate session for changing treatment modality according to the size of proximal ureter stone with complete obstruction, We analyzed 201 patients with proximal ureter stone primarily treated by Dornier MPL 9000 lithotripter from January, 2002 to August, 2004. Of total 201 patients, the patients without complete obstruction were 142, and with complete obstruction were 59. In the patients without complete obstruction, the accumulative stone free rate of the first, second, and third session were 68.3%, 86.6%, and 94.4%, respectively. The accumulative stone free rate according to the stone size at third session were 100%, 90.5%, 00.0% in stones less than 10 mm, 10 to less than 20 mm, and larger than or 20 mm, respectively. In the patients with complete obstruction, the accumulative stone free rate of the first, second, and third session were 44.1%, 66.1%, and 76.3%, respectively. The accumulative stone free rate according to the stone size at third session were 100%, 65.5%, 33.3% in stones less than 10 mm, 10 to less than 20 mm, and larger than or 20 mm, respectively. In our study, the size of proximal ureter stone with complete obstruction influenced noticeably on the success rate of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). We propose that the proximal ureter stones larger than or 10 mm with complete obstruction are treated by ureteroscopic manipulation than ESWL as the first line treatment modality.
The paper is a phase controlled loop antenna for multi-media devices. We developed a phase control loop pattern arrangement methods for loop antenna in mobile devices like as a cell phone and PCS, WCDMA. In the loop antenna pattern, arrange close adhesive the loop antenna pattern $180^\circ$ cycle in wave length, the radiated electro-magnetic wave from close adhesive loop pattern become to coherent wave than the phase controlled loop antenna has high efficiency and high radiation gain. To acquire a wide band width on phase controlled loop antenna, we arrange a multiple phase controlled loop pattern that has a different length each other. Different length for each other loop pattern cause a different frequency that we can acquire a wide band width for loop antenna from close adhesive phase control. In experiment, we designed a CDMA850 mobile multi-media antenna in 20mm$\times$20mm area thickness 0.4mm, the radiation efficiency is over 60% and radiation gain is over 0dBi.

Non-contact surface wave transmission (SWT) measurements are used to evaluate the depth of a surface-breaking crack in concrete slabs. The author propose a measurement model that includes an appropriate configuration of the source and receivers, and a transmission function for the given configuration. A series of numerical simulations using a 3D finite element model is used to obtain the transmission function. Then, validity of a proposed model is verified through experimental studies. Two air-coupled sensors are used to measured surface waves across surface-breaking cracks with varying depths from 0mm to 100mm with intervals of 10mm in a concrete slab ($1500{\times}1500{\times}180mm^3$) in laboratory. As a result, the proposed method is demonstrated as to be effective for charactering the depth of a surface-breaking crack in concrete bridge deck with an average error of 10%. A discussion on practical applications of the proposed method is also included in this article.

In this paper, we proposed a miniaturized folded inverted F antenna with ISM-band (center frequency : 447 MHz) for mounting in intelligent parking sensor. First, to mount the antenna in the intelligent parking sensor module (72 mm × 70 mm) with limited size, a folded inverted F antenna was designed at low frequency 447 MHz (wavelength λ : 670 mm) of the ISM-band. As a result, it resonates in the ISM band and obtains suitable characteristic with a -10 dB bandwidth of 13 MHz (2.9%). In addition, the H-plane pattern by the vertical and horizontal elements represents the omni-directional patterns from which the null point is removed, and the E-plane has directivity in a specific direction. Finally, it is suitable as and antenna for vehicle management in parking lots.

In this paper, we developed the EM wave absorber for eliminating false images in collision-avoidance radar. First of all, we fabricated some samples in different composition ratio of $TiO_2$ and CPE. And the relative permittivities of samples are calculated from S-parameter of samples by using 1-port method. We designed and fabricated the EM wave absorber by using the calculated relative permittivity. As a result, the EM wave absorber with composition of $TiO_2$:CPE=70:30 wt% has thickness of 1.85 mm and absorption ability higher than 20 dB in the frequency range 76-77 GHz.

The heat transfer and friction characteristics of heat exchangers having convex louver fins are experimentally investigated, and the results are compared with those of wave fin counterparts. Eighteen samples (nine convex louver fin samples and nine wave fin samples) which had different fm pitches (1.81 mm to 2.54 mm) and tube rows (one to four) were tested. The convex angle was $11.7^{\circ}$. The j factors are insensitive to fin pitch, while f factors increase as fin pitch increases. The effect of fin pitch on f factor is more significant for the wave fin compared with the convex louver fin. It appears that the complex fin pattern of the convex louver fin induces intense mixing of the flow, and thus reduces the effect of fin pitch. Both the j and f factors decrease as the number of tube row increases. However, as the Reynolds number increases, the effect of tube row diminishes. Comparison of the convex louver fin j factors with those of wave fin reveals that convex louver fin j factors are 18% to 29% higher than those of wave fin. The f factors are 16% to 34% higher for the convex louver fin. The difference increases as fin pitch decreases. Existing correlation fails to adequately predict the present data. More data is needed for a general correlation of the convex louver fin geometry.
