The present experiment was conducted to investigate the rate of oxygen consumption in relation to the several amino acids in the Mang-Kong frog ,Gallula tornieri VOGT. 1. When the liver tissue was suspended in the Ringer's solution (0.85% NaCl), the amount of oxygen consumption per hour was 0.043$\mu$l/mg , whereas when it was suspended in M/15, pH 5.8 phosphate buffer the oxygen consumption reached 0.93$\mu$l/mg. 2. When 0.5ml of 1% alanine and 0.5ml of 0.5% arginine were used as respiratory material the amount of oxygen consumption increased remarkably, while on the other hand glycine showed little influence on the amount of oxygen consumption. 3. When 0.5ml of 0.1% , 0.5% alanine-arginine mixture, 0.5ml of 0.1% , 0.5% alanine-glycine mixture and 0.5ml of 1 % arginine-glycine were added the oxygen consumption in the liver tissue increased somewhat in comparison to the case in which single amino acid was used. 4. Glycine appeared to have influence on the respiration of the liver tissue but the amount of oxygen consumption increased as the concentration of arginine-glycine mixture increased, whereas the rate of oxygen consumption increased remarkably as alaninie-glycine mixture decreased. It was evidenced that in the combination of alanine-arginine the rate of oxygen consumption increased as the concentration of the mixture decreased and vice versa.
To increase the dissolution rate of furosemide, chitin and chitosan which are widely occurring biodegradable natural materials were used as drug carriers. The ground mixtures of furosemide with chitin or chitosan were prepared by grinding in a ball mill. The ground mixture showed a faster and more enhanced dissolution rate than the physical mixture or intact furosemide. The crystalline peaks of furosemide disappeared in the ground mixtures indicating the production of amorphous form. The comparison of infrared spectra of the physical mixture and the ground mixture showed an interaction such as association between the functional groups of furosemide and chitin or chitosan in the molecular level. The weight losses in TGA curves showed all the same patterns. However, the endothermic peak due to the fusion of furosemide in DTA curve disappeared in the ground mixture indicating the different thermal property. The dissolution of furosemide from ground mixtures was fast in the order of chitosan and then chitin. The co-grinding technique with chitin or chitosan provided a promising way enhancing the dissolution rate of practically insoluble drug.
This work deals with different extraction media and reaction mixtures on photosystem II activity of Spinach chloroplasts. The photoreduction rate of ferricyanide and DPIP by intact chloroplasts which extracted with four kinds of extraction media; S-Tris-N pH 7.2, 8.0, S-Tricine-N pH 7.2, 8.0, was measured in five kinds of reaction mixtures; S-Tris-N pH 7.2, 8.0, S-Tricine-N pH 7.2, 8.0, 0.05 M-Tris pH 7.2. The extraction medium which shows the highest photoreduction rate was S-Tris-N at pH 7.2 and S-Tricine-N at pH 8.0. As to the reaciton mixture, S-Tricine-N pH 8.0 showed the highest rate. On the complex effects of extraction media and reaction mixtures, the highest photordeuction rate of Hill oxidant by intact chloroplasts was obtained by S-Tris-N pH 7.2 extraction medium and S-Tricine-N pH 8.0 reaction mixture. The second highest activity was obtained by S-Tricine-N pH 8.0 extraction medium and reaction mixture.
Process variables are factors in an experiment that are not mixture components but could affect the blending properties of the mixture ingredients. For example, the effectiveness of an etching solution which is measured as an etch rate is not only a function of the proportions of the three acids that are combined to form the mixture, but also depends on the temperature of the solution and the agitation rate. Efficient designs for the mixture components-process variables experiments depend on the mixture components-process variables model which is called a combined model. We often use the product model between the canonical polynomial model for the mixture and process variables model as a combined model. In this paper we propose three starting models for the mixture components-process variables experiments. One of the starting model we are considering is the model which includes product terms up to cubic order interactions between mixture effects and the linear & pure quadratic effect of the process variables from the product model. In this paper, we propose a method for finding robust designs and practical designs with respect to D-, G-, and I-optimality for the various starting combined models and then, we find practically efficient and robust designs for estimating the regression coefficients for those models. We find the prediction capability of those recommended designs in the case of three components and three process variables to be good by checking FDS(Fraction of Design Space) plots.
In this study, his technique was applied to a GDI spray in order to investigate the mixture distribution. In addition, the homogeneity degree and diffusion effect according to ambient temperature in the high pressure chamber were analyzed by using an entropy analysis method. From this experiment, we could find that entropy analysis is very effective method for the analysis of mixture formation, and the entropy values increase with the progress of uniformity in diffusion Process. we tried to provide the fundamental data for parameter which effects on the spray macroscopic characteristics with mixture ratio of diesel and gasoline. In addition, the mixture formation was analyzed by using entropy analysis. The entropy analysis is based on the concept of statistical entropy, and it identifies the degree of homogeneity in the fuel concentration. From the entropy analysis results we could find that the direct diffusion phenomena is a dominant factor in the formation of a homogeneous mixture at downstream of GDI spray especially in vaporizing conditions. As to increasing ambient temperature and increasing gasoline rate, the entropy intensity using the statistic thermodynamics method is increased because evaporation rate is higher gasoline than diesel.
In order to prepare anode materials for high power lithium ion secondary batteries, carbon composites were fabricated with a mixture of petroleum pitch and coke (PC) and a mixture of petroleum pitch, coke, and natural graphite (PC-NG). Although natural graphite has a good reversible capacity, it has disadvaantages of a sharp decrease in capacity during high rate charging and potential plateaus. This may cause difficulties in perceiving the capacity variations as a function of electrical potential. The coke anodes have advantages without potential plateaus and a high rate capability, but they have a low reversible capacity. With PC anode composites, the petroleum pitch/cokes mixture at 1:4 with heat treatment at $1000^{\circ}C$ (PC14-1000C) showed relatively high electrochemical properties. With PC-NG anode composites, the proper graphite contents were determined at 10~30 wt.%. The composites with a given content of natural graphite and remaining content of various petroleum pitch/cokes mixtures at 1:4~4:1 mass ratios were heated at $800{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$. By increasing the content of petroleum pitch, reversible capacity increased, but a high rate capability decreased. For a given composition of carbonaceous composite, the discharge rate capability improved but the reversible capacity decreased with an increase in heat treatment temperature. The carbonaceous composites fabricated with a mixture of 30 wt.% natural graphite and 70 wt.% petroleum pitch/cokes mixture at 1:4 mass ratio and heat treated at $1000^{\circ}C$ showed relatively high electrochemical properties, of which the reversible capacity, initial efficiency, discharge rate capability (retention of discharge capacity in 10 C/0.2 C), and charge capacity at 5 C were 330 mAh/g, 79 %, 80 %, and 60 mAh/g, respectively.
PURPOSES : This study determined the optimal usage rate of RAP (reclaimed asphalt pavement) using cold central-plant recycling (CCPR) on a road-surface layer. In addition, a mixture-aggregate gradation design and a curing method based on the proposed rate for the surface-layer mix design were proposed. METHODS : First, current research trends were investigated by analyzing the optimum moisture content, mix design, and quality standards for surface layers in Korea and abroad. To analyze the aggregate characteristics of the RAP, its aggregate-size characteristics were analyzed through the combustion asphalt content test and the aggregate sieve analysis test. Moreover, aggregate-segregation experiments were performed to examine the possibility of RAP aggregate segregation from field compaction and vehicle traffic. After confirming the RAP quality standards, coarse aggregate and fine aggregate, aggregate-gradation design and quality tests were conducted for mixtures with 40% and 50% RAP usage. The optimum moisture content of the surface-layer mixture containing RAP was tested, as was the evapotranspiration effect on the surface-layer mixture of the optimum moisture content. RESULTS : After analyzing the RAP recycled aggregate size and extraction aggregate size, 13-8mm aggregate was found to be mostly 8mm aggregate after combustion. After using surface-chipping and mixing methods to examine the possibility of RAP aggregate segregation, it was found that the mixing method contributed very little for 3.32%, and because the surface-chipping method applied compaction energy directly as the maximum assumption the separation ratio was 15.46%. However, the composite aggregate gradation did not change. Using a 40% RAP aggregate rate on the surface-layer mixture for cold central-plant recycling satisfied the Abroad quality standard. The optimum moisture content of the surface-layer mixture was found to be 7.9% using the modified Marshall compaction test. It was found that the mixture was over 90% cured after curing at $60^{\circ}C$ for two days. CONCLUSIONS : To use the cold central-plant recycling mixture on a road-surface layer, a mixture-aggregate gradation design was proposed as the RAP recycled aggregate size without considering aggregate segregation, and the RAP optimal usage rate was 40%. In addition, the modified Marshall compaction test was used to determine the optimum moisture content as a mix-design parameter, and the curing method was adapted using the method recommended by Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA).
In this study, the absorption kinetics of $CO_2$onto a mixture of AMP (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) MEA (monoethanolamine) water were investigated at 30 and 4$0^{\circ}C$ using a packed absorption tower. Solubility and absorption rate of $CO_2$into alkanolamine solutions and optimal condition of $CO_2$absorption process were investigated. The experimental conditions are as follows; temperature of 30 and 4$0^{\circ}C$, gas flow rate of 3ι/min for the absorption tower, and liquid flow rate of 0.1ι/min. Feed gas was a mixture of 85% $N_2$and 15% $CO_2$. The experimental results showed that AMP had greater solubilities and faster absorption rates than MEA and DEA. In addition, MEA had the fastest initial reaction rate. To improve the properties of AMP which have low initial reaction rate and high cost, AMP was used with MEA. The mixing ratio was also changed in constant total molarity of 1,2,3 and 4. The experimental results can be summarized as follows: (1) in solubility experiment, the addition of MEA in constant total polarity decreased the solubility of $CO_2$in AMP/MEA mixture. (2) from 0 to about 0.3 in mixing ratio, the solubility of $CO_2$in AMP/MEA mixture had little differences compared with the sum of solubility of AMP only and solubility of MEA only . (3) mixing ratio of 0.3 was found to be an optimal point with the fastest $CO_2$absorption rate.
Hydroseeding technique is a very popular method of revegetating slope areas through the control of soil erosion and stability by seeding grasses. This study was conducted to select turfgrass species and cultivars for hydroseeding. Experiment plots were established on various soil types and environmental conditions at Singar-Ansan high-way construction site. The investigation was designed in three cutting, one back-filling and other three spare sites with various seed mixtures. Results indicated that combinations of seed mixtures influenced seed germination and rates of surface cover. In a view of long term, vegetation shifts should be influenced by characters of slopes and micro-climate conditions. Hydroseeding did not show good results on rocky slope areas. Revegetation was only going on where there had soil. The combination of seed mixture with a higher rate of perennial ryegrass had relatively good revegetation with faster germination and seedling growth. Improved turf-type tall fescue Arid ⓡ and Falcon ⓡ seemed to have good environ-mental adaptation and drought tolerance. Wild or old type cultivars showed relatively slow green-up in spring and growth rates at the next year of seeding. For the harmonious landscaping with surrounding area, the combination of native grass mixture with cool-season grasses had good results. Slow and low revegetation rate at hack-filling site seemed to be caused by the poor development of capillary tubes in sub-soil. It was shown that a high correlation between seed germination and revegetation rate, and between three-month later coverage rate and final rate. The evaluation of coverage rate after three month seems to he acceptable to decide the accomplishment of hydroseeding results on rode side slopes.
