  • In this paper, we have developed and analyzed the 2.45GHz microwave RFID system. Which is composed tag and interrogator using custom IC, and we have made the software driving the hardware for the bidirectional data transmission method. Using 3.6V power supply was used, the optimal identification range in the information transmission of the designed microwave RFID system operating at 9,600bps was l0m. In the control circuit of the tag, the low current consumption of 15$mutextrm{A}$ and the tag data transmission rate of 90% when the moving velocity was 80km/h.

  • In this study we present the reaction mechanism of $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ (CZTSe) nanoparticles synthesized by microwave-assisted chemical synthesis. We performed reactions every 10 minutes in order to identify different phases during quaternary CZTSe formation. The powder samples were analyzed by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that in the first minutes copper phases are predominant, then copper and tin secondary phases react to form ternary phase. The quaternary phase is formed at 50 minutes while ternary and secondary phases are consumed. At 60 minutes pure quaternary CZTSe phase is present. After 60 minutes the quaternary phase decomposes in the previous ternary and secondary phases, which indicates that 60 minutes is ideal reaction time. The EDS analysis of pure quaternary nanocrystals (CZTSe) showed stoichiometric relations similar to the reported research in the literature, which falls in the range of Cu/(Zn+Sn): 0.8-1.0, Zn/Sn: 1.0-1.20. In conclusion, the evolution pathway of CZTSe synthesized by this novel method is similar to other synthesis methods reported before. Nanoparticles synthesized in this study present desirable properties in order to use them in solar cell and photoelectrochemical cell applications.

  • In surgery the hemostatic control is very important for the parenchymatous organs. These organs consist of the fragile and the blood content tissues such as liver, spleen and kidney, etc.. One of the control methods to solve this problem is to insert the mono polar typed needle electrode, which gathers the thermal effect of microwave, directly into tissues so as to coagulate and stop the hemorrhage. This method has same advantages: First, the range of the heat energy is limited. Second, the coagulation, the hemostatic characteristic, and stability are excellent. Third, more convenient operation is possible. This paper is aimed to manufacture the microwave tissue coagulation system and to suggest the new direction for development, hereafter.

  • The absorption properties of Cu-Zn ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorbers with PZT(Lead Zirconate Titanate) additive were evaluated. The composite specimens have prepared by molding and curing the mixture of matrix rubber and Cu-Zn ferrite powders which are synthesized by the coprecipitation method using Fe Cl/sub 3/ .center dot. 6H/sub 2/O, CuCl/sub 2/ .center dot. 2H/sub 2/O and Zn Cl/sub 2/ as a starting raw materials. PZT is used as another filler particles to adjust the material constants of Cu-Zn ferrite/rubber composite specimens. We have found that the material constants of specimens could be controlled by various PZT mixing ratio. On the Cu-Zn ferrite/rubber composite specimens with PZT 10[wt%] additive, the reflection losses were larger than 30[dB] in the frequency range from 2.72 to 4.4[GHz]' by adjusing the thickness.

  • We design and characterize a millimeter-wave ceramic package in a frequency range from DC to 300Hz using the FEM(Finite Element Method) calculation. From these calculation results, the designed feed-through structure achieved 0.32 dB, 16.8 dB of the insertion loss and the return loss at 30 GHz respectively. This ceramic package will be useful for MMIC(Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) modules.

  • This study attempted to find optimum extract range of active ingredient for barley sprouts (Hordeum vulgare L.). Extracts from Hordeum vulgare L. were made by microwave extraction method and total polyphenol content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), DPPH radical scavenging activity (DPPH) were measured with extract of Hordeum vulgare L.. Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to a extraction process, and central composite design (CCD) was also used for this process to examine the optimum condition. Independent variables ($X_n$) are concentration of ethanol ($X_1$: 0, 25, 50, 75, 100%), microwave power ($X_2$: 60, 120, 180, 240, 300 W), extraction time ($X_3$: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 min). Dependent variables ($Y_n$) are TPC ($Y_1$), TFC ($Y_2$), DPPH radical scavenging ($Y_3$). It is formed by sixteen conditions to extract. The $R^2$ value of dependent variables is ranged from 0.90 to 0.97 (p<0.05). Experiments values within the optimal range (40% of ethanol concentration, 120 W of microwave power, 18 min of extraction time) were 3.74 mg GAE/g (TPC), 3.00 mg RE/g (TFC), 35.43% (DPPH), respectively. Under the optimized conditions, predicted value showed no significant difference comparing with the experimental values.

  • High performance packages must have a minimum insertion loss and return loss. In this paper, we design a millimeter-wave ceramic package using LTCC (Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic) technology to satisfy excellent transmission characteristics and characterize in a frequency range from DC to 30 GHz using the FEM (Finite Element Method) calculation. From these calculation results, the designed feed-through structure achieved 0.32 dB, 16.8 dB of the insertion loss and the return loss at 30 GHz respectively. • A new concept of adaptive focusing, using a Rotman lens, is presented in this paper. A Rotman lens is a microwave lens which is able to focus microwave power on its focal arc or generate multiple beams. By adding the array of phase shifters between a Rotman lens and antenna elements, the wavefront can be adaptively modulated to focus objects distributed in short range rather than far-field zone. From the optical point of view, the propagations of the lens have been simplified from the Fresnel diffraction integral to the Fourier transform. Using Fourier Transform, a beam propagation method has been developed to show improvement of the resolution by controlling wavefront of wave propagating from an aperture-type antenna array. The beam width(or spot size) and intensity have been calculated for a focused beam propagating from an array having $10{\lambda}$ of its size. For the beam with $20{\lambda},\;30{\lambda}$, and $50{\lambda}$ of geometrical focal length, the half-power beamwidth (spot size) is about $1.1{\lambda},\;1.3{\lambda}$, and $1.9{\lambda}$, respectively.

  • An analytical method has been developed to determine multi-elements in human hair samples by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). 0.05 g of hair sample was added to the Teflon digestion bomb together with 1.5 mL of nitric acid and an appropriate amount of In as an internal standard. The sample was then decomposed in the microwave digestion system. The hair certified reference material, GBW 09101, was analyzed for the validation of the analytical method. The determined values were in good agreement with the certified values within the uncertainty range.
