  • In this paper, we proposed reconfigurable dual polarization patch array antenna that can select two polarizations(Vertical, RHCP) using defected ground structure and Pin diode. The proposed antenna was designed arranging a circular polarization patch antenna implemented with a square microstrip patch and two slots 3x3 at 25.8mm placed, a half-wavelength of 5.8 GHz. Conect the pin diode and the capacitor to the slot diagonally placed on the ground of each antennas, and select polarization using the open/short operating according to the application of DC voltage to the pin diode. As a result of the design, the gain of the antenna is 11.7 dBi at vertical polarization and 11.6 dBic at RHCP. The axial ratio is 20.3 dB at 1.8 dB vertical polarization at RHCP. Mutual Coupling is Maximum to -20.8 dB for vertical polarization and Maximum to -30.1 dB for RHCP.

  • In this paper, the circularly polarized $4{\times}4$ array antenna is proposed for the X-band. A single antenna consists of square patch and unequal cross-aperture coupled feeding. The RHCP(Right Handed Circularly Polarization) is generated by unequal cross-aperture coupled feeding. By reducing space among elements of way antenna from 0.8 ${\lambda}_0$ to 0.45 ${\lambda}_0$, the mounting area of array antenna is miniaturized. The $2{\times}2$ array antenna is designed using sequential rotation feeding network. The good level of gain, axial ratio, and impedance bandwidth are achieved. The $4{\times}4$ array antenna is extended by ${\lambda}/4$ transformer and T-junction power divider. The simulated maximum radiation gain is 15.09 dBi at 10 GHz. The simulated 3 dB Axial Ratio bandwidth is from 9.05 to 10.4 GHz(13.5%). Also the measured impedance bandwidth($VSWR{\leq}2$) of manufactured $4{\times}4$ array antenna is from 8.45 to 11.84 GHz(33.9%). The measured maximum radiation gain is 11.10 dBi at 10 GHz. The measured 3 dB Axial Ratio bandwidth is from 9.42 to 10.47 GHz(10.5%).

  • This paper proposes an aperture coupled circular polarized patch antenna operating at ISM band(5GHz). For improving the characteristic and performance of broadband and circular polarization at single circular polarized patch antenna. We designed and analyzed the sequentially rotated arrayed(SRA) using phase delay of 0$^{\circ}$, 90$^{\circ}$, 180$^{\circ}$, 270$^{\circ}$and 0$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$, 90$^{\circ}$, 135$^{\circ}$. Experimental result, the SRA antenna using phase delay of 90$^{\circ}$and 45$^{\circ}$are improved at the wideband and axial ratio. Also, the SRA antenna using phase delay of 45$^{\circ}$verified that it is better bandwidth and axial ratio than the SRA antenna using phase delay of 90$^{\circ}$.

  • A design approach for a radiation element of dual polarization, which can be implemented in the waveguide structure, is proposed. For minimization of the radiating element, the ridged waveguide type is used and for dual polarization, the microstrip type of printed dipole structure is additionally installed inside the waveguide. In order to validate the design approach, $1{\times}4$ array antenna is fabricated and its performances such as return loss, co-polarization coupling between adjacent channels, and radiation patterns are investigated. Theory and experiment are observed to be in good agreement. The radiating structure is thought to be a useful one in an application to the phased array antenna system, in particular, requiring dual polarization characteristics.

  • In this paper, an equally spaced $3{\times}2$ microstrip patch array antenna based on the fundamental infinite wavelength supported by the composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) is proposed. The proposed CRLH TL unit cell consists of an inter-digit capacitor to realize left-handed (LH) series capacitance and non-symmetric shunt meander line with a shorted via to realize LH shunt inductance. At the infinite wavelength frequency of 2.09 GHz a 6-port series power divider consisting of a 19 unit cells shows a maximum magnitude difference of 0.73 dB and a $0.52^{\circ}$ maximum phase difference between output ports. The measured resonant frequency and maximum gain of the fabricated array antenna is 2.09 GHz and 10.98 dBi, respectively.

  • In this paper, design and fabrication for inset fed microstrip patch antennas applied to the $3{\times}3$ array CSLR and eight CSLR, respectively, to the ground plane are studied. The theoretical results are compared to the experimental results for the return loss and radiation pattern. For 'CSLR 09' antenna, the theoretical result for the resonant frequency and the return loss are 2.82 GHz and - 25.35 dB, respectively. The experimental results are obtained for a 2.885 GHz, -30.72 dB. Theoretical results for the resonant frequency and the return loss of the 'CSLR 08' antenna are 2.82 GHz, -16.77 dB, respectively, and the experimental results are obtained for a 2.885 GHz, -14.90 dB. In addition, E-plane and H-plane radiation patterns in comparison with designed and fabricated antennas are in good agreement.

  • In this paper, the surface wave that caused the isolation problem when the design of the array antenna is studied. The grounded dielectric slab model is used in order to simulate in the similar environment with the surface wave of the microstrip patch antenna. The propagation of the surface wave on the various types of grounds which are defected ground structure(DGS), perfect magnetic conductor(PMC), Soft-surface, and Hard-surface is simulated. As a result, 25 % power is blocked by the DGS when the TM-wave incident. Also, 95 % power is blocked by the PMC and Soft-surface. This study will be very useful to increase the gain of an array antenna by improving the isolation between the antenna elements.

  • In this paper, An aperture-coupled microstrip patch antenna operating at WLL frequency range(Rx : 2.3∼2.33Ghz, Tx : 2.37 ∼2.4Ghz) for WLL repeater is designed and fabricated. FR-4 epoxy substrate with 4.7 relative permittivity is inserted between feed-line and patch plane. Aperture-coupled structure is employed for consideration of bandwidth improvement and gain\`s characteristics. Air gap is arranged at each layer for bandwidth extension and radome is used as a protector in the upper patch. In this paper, both 1 port and 2 port are designed as 1$\times$2 array antenna which uses T-junction and λ$\_$g//4 transformer. Here, 1 port is used as transmitting/receiving antenna and 2 port is used as receiving antenna. Functionally independent two antennas using space diversity arrange slots between two antennas in order to be placed at the same place. As a result, we obtained a excellent isolation below -40dB and return loss is reduced by means of slots arrangement between patch and antenna.

  • The design and implementation of planar Active Phased Array Antenna System are described in this paper. This Antenna system operates at X-band with its bandwidth 10 % and dual polarization is realized using dual slot feeding microstrip patch antenna and SPDT(Single Pole Double Through) switch. Array Structure is $16\times16$ triangular lattice structure and each array is composed of TR(Transmit & Receive) module with more than 40 dBm power. Each TR module includes digital attenuator and phase shifter so that antenna beam can be electronically steered over a scan angle$({\pm}60^{\circ})$. Measurement of antenna pattern is conducted using a near field chamber and the results coincide with the expected beam pattern. From these results, it can be convinced that this antenna can be used with control of beam steering and beam shaping.
