The trend of miniaturization has been applied to the research of rockets to develop prototypes of micro rockets. In this paper, the development of a web-integrated prototyping system for three-dimensional micro rockets, and the results of combustion tests are discussed. The body of rocket was made of 6061 aluminum cylinder by lathe process. The three-dimensional micro nozzles were fabricated on the same aluminum by using micro endmills with ${\phi}100{\mu}m{sim}{\phi}500{\mu}m$ diameter. Two types of micro nozzle were fabricated and compared for performance. The total mass of the rockets was 7.32 g and that of propellant (gun powder) was 0.65 g. The thrust-to-weight ratio was between 1.58 and 1.74, and the flight test with 45 degree launch angle from the ground resulted in $46\;m{\sim}53\;m$ of horizontal flight distance. In addition, ABS housing for the micro machined rocket was fabricated using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). A web-based design, fabrication, and test system for micro nozzles was proposed to integrate the distributed hardware resources. Test data was sent to the designer via the same web server for the faster feedback to the rocket designer.

In this paper, the digital model of the micro-factory has been established, inspected and evaluated by progress of assembly, manipulation and examination. The new paradigm of the system analysis is realized by digital simulation of the factory. The digital manufacturing system of the micro-factory was simulated through UML(Unified Modeling Language) with the object-oriented logical model analysis method and then the micro lens module assembly system was simulated with MST(Micro System Technology) Application Module.
This paper describes an automated evaluation of electrostatic field for micro motors whose sizes range 10 to 103um. Electric field modeling in micro motors has been generally restricted to in-plane two-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). In this paper, the actual three-dimensional geometry of the micro motor is considered. An automatic FE mesh generation technique, which is based on the fuzzy knowledge processing and computational geometry techniques, is incorporated in the system, together with one of commercial FE analysis codes and one of commercial solid modelers. The system allows a geometry model of concern to be automatically converted to different FE models, depending on physical phenomena to be analyzed, electrostatic analysis and stress analysis and so on. The FE models are then exported to the FE analysis code, and then analyses are peformed. Then, analytical analysis and FE analysis about the torque generated by electrostatic micro motor are performed. The starting torque is proportional to $V^2$, the calculated starting torque from the two-dimensional analytical solutions are three times larger than those from the three-dimensional FE solutions.
For the past decades, advances in computational devices have propelled mathematical modeling to become an effective tool for solving the black box of complex biological systems because of its prominent analytical power and comprehensive insight. Nevertheless, modeling is still limitedly used in the fields of agriculture and food which generally concentrate on producing experimental data rather than processing them. This study, hence, intends to introduce modeling in terms of its procedure types of structure, formulation, analyses, and software, with reviews of current notable studies from micro to macro scales so as to propose the modeling technique as a novel approach in discerning conundrums in agriculture and food systems. We expect this review to provide an eligible source for researchers who are willing to apply modeling techniques into the unexplored fields related to bio-systems that comprehensively include biology, nutrition, agriculture, food, animal science, and ecology.

For a long time, evaluation of soundness and strength in concrete has been performed through ultrasonic velocity(UV), which is essential work in field assessment. Porosity in concrete is a major parameter indicating durability and strength, and UV passing concrete depends on porosity variation. In this paper, a modeling on UV through concrete is carried out considering porosity and the results are verified with those from test. Additionally UV in concrete under compression/tension loading condition is measured and UV modeling with loading condition is performed. Up to 50% of loading ratio, UV slightly increases and greatly drops at peak load in compression region, however it fluctuates in tensile region due to micro cracking in matrix. The proposed model shows a reasonable agreement with test results in control and compression region, and needs modification for tensile region considering micro cracks and local aggregate interlocking.
In this paper we describe current activities on the project Multi-Scale Modeling and Analysis of convective boiling (MSMA), conducted jointly by the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and the Swiss Nuclear Utilities (Swissnuclear). The long-term aim of the MSMA project is to formulate improved closure laws for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for prediction of convective boiling and eventually of the Critical Heat Flux (CHF). As boiling is controlled by the competition of numerous phenomena at various length and time scales, a multi-scale approach is employed to tackle the problem at different scales. In the MSMA project, the scales on which we focus range from the CFD scale (macro-scale), bubble size scale (meso-scale), liquid micro-layer and triple interline scale (micro-scale), and molecular scale (nano-scale). The current focus of the project is on micro- and meso-scales modeling. The numerical framework comprises a highly efficient, parallel DNS solver, the PSI-BOIL code. The code has incorporated an Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) to tackle complex geometries. For simulation of meso-scales (bubbles), we use the Constrained Interpolation Profile method: Conservative Semi-Lagrangian $2^{nd}$ order (CIP-CSL2). The phase change is described either by applying conventional jump conditions at the interface, or by using the Phase Field (PF) approach. In this work, we present selected results for flows in complex geometry using the IBM, selected bubbly flow simulations using the CIP-CSL2 method and results for phase change using the PF approach. In the subsequent stage of the project, the importance of effects of nano-scale processes on the global boiling heat transfer will be evaluated. To validate the models, more experimental information will be needed in the future, so it is expected that the MSMA project will become the seed for a long-term, combined theoretical and experimental program.

The purposes of the study are threefold: (1) develop key successful factors of blockchain platform for micro-enterprises based on Balanced Scorecard (BSC), (2) find out the correlation between the key successful factors of blockchain platform for micro-enterprises, and (3) understand the perception of micro-enterprise blockchain and the difference between theoretical guidance and practical application. This study combines Interpretative Structural Modeling Method, (ISM) and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) to analyze the causal relationships and hierarchical structures of the 12 key successful factors of blockchain platform for micro-enterprises and understand the correlation between factors. The 12 key successful factors developed based on the four perspectives of the Balanced Scorecard, and the questionnaire designs based on the concept of DEMATEL, and then analyzed data by DEMATEL and ISM methods to understand the correlation between key factors. The research results show that the key successful factors of blockchain platform for micro-enterprises include "brand equity", "security and anti-counterfeiting", "sales growth", "transparency and clear", "trust", "consensus mechanism", "traceability", "consistency", "tracking", "innovation management", "international", "organizational adaptation", in which consumer "trust" plays an important role. Micro-enterprises can use blockchain to expand the market, provide customers with better service quality, and bring sales growth to micro-enterprises.

To investigate the relationship between BMD, micro-structural and mechanical properties in intertrochanteric trabecular bone, the PIXI-mus2 system, micro-CT and FE model were used. The purpose of this study were (1) to apply high-resolution imaging techniques (micro-CT imaging) in combination with new computer modeling techniques (FEA) to quantify 3D microstructural and biomechanical properties of trabecular bone in the intertrochanteric region, and (2) determine if the prediction of bone elastic constant can be improved with structural index.
Accurate optical texturing of light guide plate over the entire surface area is an important technical issue in LCD TV industry. Injection molding process has the potential to produce large light guide plates having highly efficient optical textures such as micro-prism array. This study is focused on the effect of the degree of replication of the micro texture of the 40" injection molded light guide plates on the overall optical performance of the display panel. Measured replication ratios of the micro-textures formed with three different types of injection molding process were considered in the modeling of prismatic micro segment array. Optical simulation was conducted and results were discussed.
