고농도 PCE 및 1,1,1 TCA 제거를 위한 영가금속 선정 (Screening of Zero-Valent Metal for the Removal of High Concentration PCE and 1,1,1 TCA)

  • 본 연구는 고농도의 PCE 및 1,1,1-TCA가 단독 또는 혼합물로 오염된 지하수 복원을 위해 영가 금속을 이용한 탈염소환원공정을 적용할 때 기술적으로, 경제적으로 가장 적절한 영가금속 선정을 목표로 수행되었다. 고순도 영가철, 고순도 영가아연, 철광석, 고로 슬래그, 차수재용슬래그, 망간 광석 및 아연 광석 등을 대상으로 회분식 반응조 실험을 수행하였으며, PCE, 1,1,1-TCA 및 혼합물의 분해능 및 탈염소화율을 도출하고, 금속 단가 당 변환량을 포함한 경제성 등을 검토하여 최적의 금속광물을 선정하고자 하였다. 연구결과 단일물질 처리시 고순도 영가철과 고순도 영가아연에 의한 제거율 및 분해능이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 그 다음으로 아연광석에 의한 분해능이 양호하였다. 두 물질 제거를 위한 경제성 비교에서는 고순도 영가철과 고순도 영가아연에 비해 아연광석이 매우 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 두 물질의 혼합처리 시에는 단일 처리에 비해 분해능이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과로부터 단일 또는 혼합 1,1,1-TCA, PCE 처리를 위한 분해능, 처리특성 및 경제성 등을 고려하였을 때 아연광석이 가장 적절한 금속광물로 사료된다.

국내 비철금속 제련시설에서의 납 동위원소 배출특성 연구 (Characterization of lead isotope emission profiles in non-ferrous smelters in South Korea)

  • 납 동위원소 분석은 국지적 및 지구적 납 오염 특성 해석을 위한 유용한 기법으로 널리 활용되어왔다. 본 연구는 국내 환경 중 납 오염원을 추적하기 위해 주요 배출원별 납 동위원소 인벤토리 구축사업의 일환으로 수행되었다. 특히 비철금속 제련시설은 가장 중요한 인위적 납 오염원으로 알려져 있으며, 본 연구에서는 국내에서 가동 중인 아연 (2 개 시설), 납 및 구리 제련시설에서의 납 동위원소의 유입 및 배출특성을 조사하였다. 각 제련시설에서 사용 중인 정광, 슬러지 및 폐수, 배출가스, 부산물로 생산되는 황산 및 제련된 금속제품 중의 납 농도와 납 동위원소 조성을 조사하였다. 아연 제련시설에서의 아연광석의 납 동위원소 분포는 1.179~1.198의 높은 $^{206}Pb/^{207}Pb$ 값을, 아연 제련시설에서 배출되는 배출가스, 제품, 폐기물 등은 1.105~1.147의 낮은 $^{206}Pb/^{207}Pb$ 값을 나타냈다. 국내 수입되는 아연광석은 주로 호주 및 페루 등이 주요 산지로서, 아연 제련시설에서 배출되는 물질들의 납 동위원소 분포는 중남미산 광석 및 호주산 광석의 납 동위원소 비율이 혼합된 것으로 추정되었다. 납 제련시설에서 배출되는 납 동위원소 패턴은 호주산 광석 및 중남미산 광석의 혼합 형태를 보이며, 구리 제련시설은 중남미 지역의 광석패턴을 따르는 것으로 추정되었다.

자연광석을 이용한 염소계 지방족 탄화수소 혼합물 변환 특성 (Transformation Characteristics of Chlorinated Aliphatic Hydrocarbon (CAH) Mixtures by Natural Ores)

  • This study screened three natural ores (iron, mangenase, and zinc), two types of slags, and two elemental metals (elemental iron and zinc) to evaluate transformation characteristics of CAH mixtures [e.g. Carbontetrachloride (CT), 1,1,1-Trichloroethane (1,1,1-TCA), and Perchloroethene (PCE)]. To select an effective metal medium to treat the CAH mixtures, we measured transformation capacities (CAH mass ultimately transformed/mass of metal added) and the degree of dechlorination. We also considered economical efficiency of the metal media by comparing the value, CAH mass ultimately transformed divided by the price of metal medium added. A simplified mathematical model adapting CAH transformation capacity, first-order transformation kinetics, and available mass of metal transforming CAH was developed and used for estimating CAH transformation rate coefficient and longevity of the metal medium. CAH transformation capacity for elemental iron and elemental zinc were 4258~7129 and $4215{\sim}6330{\mu}g\;CAH\;transformed/g$ metal added, respectively, which are a factor of 80~200 higher than slags and natural ores. They also showed a factor of 1.1 to 2.2 greater degree of dechlorination than the others. Among natural ores and slags, Zinc ore showed the highest transformation capacity, $47{\sim}53{\mu}g\;CAH\;transformed/g$ metal added. Although zinc ore have smaller transformation capacity than elemental metals, economical efficiency of zinc ore is a factor of 10~20 greater than elemental metals tested. Consequently, zinc ore would be more economical medium than the others tested in this study. We estimated the pseudo first-order transformation rate of zinc ore was in the order of CT > 1,1,1-TCA > PCE.

Diagnostic metallurgy of porphyry copper-gold deposits in the Pan-Pacific

  • The variable flotation response ores from different deposits results basically from mineralogical association and their differences. Development of new techniques for analyzing the metallurgical performance of flotation and other concentration processes is demanded even in the treatment of rather simple ores such as porphyry ores. Diagnostic metallurgical analysis can be used to quantify the most possible recovery processes. Several porphyry copper/gold ores around the world were used to examine the responses in flotation, gravity separation and cyanidation in order to define the linkage between the recovery processes for both copper and old values. Laboratory batch flotation, gravity separation and cyanidation tests were carried out on these samples. All results were used to correlate the relative recovery of copper and gold, and to predict the highest possible metal recovery in the system. The metallurgical predictions were made according to the flotation conditions used and gravity separation. The results of various concentration processes on each porphyry ore samples are presented and discussed. All seven samples have shown significantly different gold/copper metallurgy. The grade/recovery relationships of gold and copper in the laboratory batch tests for the best results and the plants are given in the Figures below. The results of laboratory tests show that the copper recoveries converged to about $90\%$, but the gold recoveries were spread over $55-80\%$, except the K S ore. Series of standard cyanidation tests on the flotation concentrate samples and gravity separation using Knelson Separator on heads ores were carried out to cross-link the metallurgy and mineralogy of gold in the porphyry ores.

더미 침출에 대한 소고 (Review of Heap leaching Technologies)

  • The most recent research in precious metal processing is found in the increasing use of heap leaching for the extraction of gold from low grade ores and tailing dumps because heap leaching has several advantages compared to traditional milling. They include simplicity, lower capital and operating costs, faster starter-up time and environmental safety. In this paper, an attempt has been made to provide an overview of important factors involved in the implementation of heap leaching technology as a vehicle for gold extraction from its low grade ores. Brief discussions of the various important elements to this process has been made to ascertain the heap leaching characteristics, such as heap leaching chemistry, natural factors, ore preparation, heap and pad construction, solution collection system, pond system, metal extraction, and economical consideration.

  • 텅스텐은 고융점금속으로 주로 초경합금으로 사용되고 있다. 알칼리용액에서 텅스텐은 $WO{_4}^{2-}$로 존재하는데 용액의 pH가 감소함에 따라 중합반응이 일어나며 텅스텐산으로 침전된다. 따라서 원광석 및 2차 자원으로부터 텅스텐 회수를 위한 습식 제련 기술은 산침출과 알칼리침출로 대별된다. 2차 자원에 함유된 금속의 종류와 함유량 및 텅스텐의 소재화를 고려해서 2차 자원으로부터 텅스텐을 고순도로 회수하기 위한 공정을 선택해야 한다.

  • In order to prevent the belt from being damaged by metal pieces, we developed multicoil-type metal detection system. This detects the presence of belt clips and position of metal pieces in ores being transported on conveyor belt. In this research, our coil sensor of multicoil-type metal detection system is divided into two parts, exciting part (transmitter coil) and sensing part composed of two receiver coils. Each receiver coil has several coils in the direction of belt width. Multicoil-type metal detection system is operated by supplying a transmitter coil with electric power resources to generate magnetic field, and then the change of magnetic flux resulted from a metal piece on the conveyor be a is induced into sensing coils. We can prevent detector from failing to catch metal pieces due to high threshold level produced by steel belt clips and male the sensitivity of belt-width direction uniform by using multicoil-type metal detection system. Besides, this developed system can recognize precise position and size of metal piece. The experiments shows that our multicoil-type metal detection system has better performances than the conventional metal piece detector.

  • In order to explain the positive catalytic action of copper compound for the rate of leaching of zinc sulfide minerals, the electrode and redox potentials of both synthetic and natural sulfides were measured at various conditions of temperatures and pressures. The potentials of Chalcopyrite and copper sulfide were considerably higher than that of zinc sulfide, whereas lead sulfide and Galena had slightly lower potentials than that of zinc sulfide. At elevated temperatures and pressures, the same tendency was obtained. By means of comparing the calculated and measured values of potentials for sulfides, it was suggested that the electrode potentials in acid solution were generated by oxidation of sulfur ion. As a result, it was concluded that the catalytic action of copper compound in the leaching of synthetic zinc sulfide should be arised from the galvanic action between sulfides keeping intimate contact one another in which copper sulfide worked as cathodic and zinc sulfide as anodic part analogous to the metal corrosion under galvanic action.

Acid-insoluble Substances in Reduced Iron Powder from Ores

  • X-ray analysis on iron ores and reduced iron powders revealed that the main acid-insoluble substances were hexagonal and tetragonal quartz, another substances were sillimanite, alumina-silicate, an unnamed zeolite, all contained Si and Al. Their particle size was in the range of $3{\sim}7\;{\mu}m$. Statistics analysis showed that the AIC for high-grade magnetite powder was $(0.130{\pm}0.010)%$) during the latest five months. The predicting value for reduced iron powder should be 0.179%. However, the testing value for reduced iron powder was $(0.192{\pm}0.014)%$. The limited difference of 0.013% might imply rare pollution coming from the reduction and milling processes. The most important step for control AIC should be the separation process of iron ore powders.

  • 고품위 산화광의 고갈로 인해 금속황화광의 제련공정의 개발이 중요해지고 있다. 금속황화광의 침출은 대부분 전기화학반응으로 크게 $H_2S$, S, ${SO_4}^{2-}$ 발생형으로 분류된다. 침출용액의 산도와 산화제의 종류 및 농도는 황의 중산생성물 형성에 큰 영향을 미친다. 산화성이 강한 침출용액에서 황 옥소음이온의 Frost도는 황의 산화수가 증가할수록 열역학적으로 안정함을 나타낸다.
