Many previous studies of data quality have focused on the realization and evaluation of both data value quality and data service quality. These studies revealed that poor data value quality and poor data service quality were caused by poor data structure. In this study we focus on metadata management, namely, data structure quality and introduce the data quality management maturity model as a preferred maturity model. We empirically show that data quality improves as data management matures.

In order to overcome the problems of current approaches to metadata interoperability based on element mapping, this research proposed Master Element Framework that is an alternative approach to metadata interoperability. It is an approach to integrate metadata elements that have the same value, instead of direct mapping between similar elements. Master Element Framework is constructed to semantically integrate metadata elements in a hierarchical order and to interconnect between heterogeneous metadata standards. This approach is expected to be an alternative approach to metadata interoperability.

For Knowledge Information Governance, integration search mechanism of Knowledge Information is required in various industries. But when Knowledge Information system constructs in each professional field, it developed and used its own metadata format. Accordingly, if distributed information system searches using metadata, heterogeneous problems are occurred among metadata. For integration search, it needs a consistency management of metadata. Therefore, this paper defines a standard metadata that represent standard metadata as surveying a used metadata in each field systems. Also, we propose a metadata registry integration framework for Knowledge Information Governance. It enables an integration search service without a metadata modification of existing system. Through the proposed framework, it can registries and manages efficiently the existing metadata. Also, it enables a semantically extended search using semantic relation between metadata.

The purpose of this study is to building e-Science environment based on HVEM, remote control system of HVEM and the data portal, which is made by HVEM for efficiently management and sharing of data are needed. Furthermore, specialized metadata is required as well for the structuralization, storage, management search and share of the data created from the data portal. In this research paper, we propose the specialized metadata model, only suitable for HVEM, for more efficient management and share of data created by HVEM under the e-Science environment.

Datawebhouse consists of both web log analysis used for customer management and datawarehouse used for decision support. However, datawebhouse needs complex operations for management in order to transform and integrate data from heterogeneous data sources and distributed systems. We propose a metadata schema in order to enable data integration and data management which are essential in datawebhouse environments. We show that our proposed schema supports datawebhouse development and enables integrated asset management of business information. With ETL metadata for web log extract, we can improve the data processing time of web log.

The web 2.0 is leading a rapid change of internet services. The UCC(User Created Contents) service is one of the representative internet services with web 2.0 paradigm. In this paper, we design and implement the UCC services prototype system for image and video. The proposed system does not need to install ActiveX and client programs on devices of users to edit their contents. All processes for editing UCC are conducted on the server. Our proposed system consists of the two components such as the multimedia editing subsystem and the metadata management system. They provide the API to UCC service developers or vendors. The multimedia editing subsystem supports editing for image and video, and the streaming services of video. The metadata management subsystem supports the metadata management and retrieval of image and video.

The study aims to present authenticity ontology required for capturing information about digital record's identity and integrity over the course of the lifecycle. To this end, we analyzed the functional requirements, domain model, and sample properties of the IPAM (InterPARES Authenticity Metadata), Based on IPAM, we proposed an ontology for authenticity of digital records with sample records. The suggested ontology modeling can be utilized as the basis for establishing an authenticity information creation and management tool for digital records.

As the Internet is more embedded in people's lives, Internet users draw on new Internet applications to express themselves through "user-created content (UCC)." In addition, there is a noticeable shift from text-centered contents mainly posted on bulletin boards to multimedia contents such as images and videos on UCC web sites. The changes require different way of recommendations comparing to traditional products or contents recommendation on the Internet. This paper aims to design UCC recommendation methods with user behavior data and contents metadata such as tags and titles, and compare performances of the suggested methods. Real web logs data of a major Korean video UCC site was used to empirical experiments. The results of the experiments show that collaborative filtering technique based on similarity of UCC customers' preferences performs better than other content-based recommendation methods based on tag information and content metadata.

RDF treats all resources independently, that's integrated description model for internet resources description, that provides the model to connect resources that related with the specific resources. This paper suggests metadata as an effective search tool suitable for moving images on the web. Dublin Core, a leading metagata sceme of web resources, and MPEG-7, a coming international standard developed by MPEG, are used to construct a hybrid metadata scheme. RDF is selected as a framework for a matadata description and Moving Image Core was developed as a RDF schema. Finally, RDF/XML encoded metadata of moving images are retrieved throuth web-based database system using ASP technology.
