  • Phospholipase C is a key enzyme of signaling pathways hydrolyzed phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate to generate 2 second messengers. Among the PLC, $PLC-{\beta}$ subfamily consisted of 4 isoforms, $PLC-{\beta}$ 1~4. Here, we studied the tissue specific expression of $PLC-{\beta}3$ in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) following external stimulation like lipopolysaccharide (LPS), concanavalin A (ConA) and environmental stress compared with the inflammatory cytokines IL-1b. $PoPLC-{\beta}3$ gene transcripts has the effect in stimulated tissue compared to control. These results provide what we sure to be a important role for $PLC-{\beta}3$ activity in tissue and verify $PLC-{\beta}3$ as potential immune enzyme for signal transduction.

  • Although alteration in protein phosphorylation by specific protein kinases is of importance in transducing cellular signals in a variety of neural/endocrine systems, little is known about protein phosphorylation in the hvpothalamus. The present study aims to explore whether activation of the second messenger-dependent protein kinases affects phosphorylation of specific proteins using a cell free phosphorylation system followed by SDS-polvacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Cytoplasmic fractions derived from hvpothalami of immature rats were used as substrates and several activators and/or inhibitors of CAMP-, phosphatidylinositol- and Ca2+-calmodulin-dependent protein kinases were assessed. Many endogenous proteins were extensively phosphorylated and depending on the signal transduction pathways, phosphorvlation profiles were markedly different. The present data indicate that extracellular signals may affect cellular events through protein phosphorylation by second messengers-protein kinases in the rat hypothalamus.

  • The expression of proenkephalin (proENK) mRNA and Met-enkephalin (ME) secretion in C6 rat glioma cells and bovine adrenal medullary chromaffin (BAMC) cells were elucidated in the present study. The levels of proENK mRNA and ME secreted into the media in BAMC cells were measured in the presence of cycloheximide and 12-tetrade-canoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA). Cycloheximide (20 nM) abolished the induction of proENK mRNA expression, protein synthesis and ME secretion by TPA (1nM), indicating that de novo protein synthesis was necessary for proENK gene expression and ME secretion.

  • Cell death pathways such as apoptosis can be activated in response to oxidative stress, enabling the disposal of damaged cells. In contrast, controlled intracellular redox events are proposed to be a significant event during apoptosis signaling, regardless of the initiating stimulus. In this scenario oxidants act as second messengers, mediating the post-translational modification of specific regulatory proteins. The exact mechanism of this signaling is unclear, but increased understanding offers the potential to promote or inhibit apoptosis through modulating the redox environment of cells. Peroxiredoxins are thiol peroxidases that remove hydroperoxides, and are also emerging as important players in cellular redox signaling. This review discusses the potential role of peroxiredoxins in the regulation of apoptosis, and also their ability to act as biomarkers of redox changes during the initiation and progression of cell death.

  • As the use of smartphones become more common, the communication via instant messenger becomes natural. However, it is important to secure the relevant information promptly since the chat room between participants can be used as a space for a criminal conspiracy, and crime-related contents can be stored and deleted easily on smartphones. Therefore, this study aims to identify the available data and to use it as proof by comparing and analyzing the instant messengers with high usage rate.

  • Smartphones are one of the most widely used mobile devices allowing users to communicate with each other. With the development of mobile apps, many companies now provide various services for their customers by studying interactive systems in the form of mobile messengers for business marketing and commercial promotion. Such interactive systems are called "chatbots." In this paper, we propose a method of avoiding the redundant responses of chatbots, according to the utterances entered by the user. In addition, the redundant patterns of chatbot responses are classified into three categories for the first time. In order to verify the proposed method, a chatbot is implemented using Telegram, an open source messenger. By comparing the proposed method with an existent method for each pattern, it is confirmed that the proposed method significantly improves the redundancy avoidance rate. Furthermore, response performance and variation analysis of the proposed method are investigated in our experiment.

  • Recently. we have reported that several lipoxygenases products directly activate the capsaicin-activated channel as intracellular messengers in neuron. In particular, 12-(S)-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid turned out to be the most potent endogenous VR activator. This finding prompted us to search for a novel non-vaniloid VR agonists and antagonists. We have designed and synthesized a series of non-vanilloid VR binding ligands based on the structural simllarity between 12-HPETE and capsaicin, the natural VR agonist. Our recent studies on the development of selective vanilloid receptor agonists and antagonists will be presented.
