This paper presents a more stable method of multiresolution editing for a triangular mesh. The basic idea of our paper is to embed an editing area of a mesh onto a 2D region and to produce 3D surfaces which interpolate the editing-information. In this paper, we adopt the extended convex combination approach based on the shape-preserving parameterization for the embedding, which guarantees no self-intersection on the 2D embedded mesh. That is, the result of the embedding is stable. Moreover, we adopt the multi-level B-spline approach to generate the surface containing all of 3D editing-information, which can make us control the editing area in several levels. Hence, this method supports interactive editing and thus can produce intuitive editing results.
This paper suggests a new algorithm of automatic mesh generation over planar domains with arbitrarily shaped boundaries and control curves. The algorithm is based on the method of recursively subdividing the domain by the path connecting, with minimum penalty value, two points on the super-loop, which consists of the boundaries and the control curves, The algorithm is not subject to any limitation on the shape of the domain, and its process can be fully automated. Therefore, this algorithm can be implemented into computer programs which require minimal user intervention while generating finite element meshes over complicated domains. This algorithm can also be easily extended for application to the generation of meshes over curved surfaces, or to the adaptive mesh generation.

Ozone has been widely applied to many industrial fields because of its strong oxidation power, Therefore, the studies have been carried out for the methods on an effective and high concentration ozone generation. The silent or surface discharge type ozone generators have been mainly used for high concentration ozone generation in many fields of applications. But these two types of ozone generators have shortcomings to be improved. In this study, the ozone generator which improved the shortcomings of above ozone generators was proposed and fabricated for the high concentration ozone generation. And the proposed ozone generator could generate the surface and barrier discharge simultaneously. For this purpose, a mesh type discharge electrode was proposed and studied as a function of the widths output maximum ozone concentration of 2.96[vol%] was obtained at 5.6[kV], 830[mA], for 0.3[mm] width and 0.8[mm] vacancy of the mesh electrode and gap spacing of 0.65[mm] respectively.

This manuscript presents a real-time solution for 3D human body reconstruction with multiple RGB-D cameras. The proposed system uses four consumer RGB/Depth (RGB-D) cameras, each located at approximately $90^{\circ}$ from the next camera around a freely moving human body. A single mesh is constructed from the captured point clouds by iteratively removing the estimated overlapping regions from the boundary. A cell-based mesh construction algorithm is developed, recovering the 3D shape from various conditions, considering the direction of the camera and the mesh boundary. The proposed algorithm also allows problematic holes and/or occluded regions to be recovered from another view. Finally, calibrated RGB data is merged with the constructed mesh so it can be viewed from an arbitrary direction. The proposed algorithm is implemented with general-purpose computation on graphics processing unit (GPGPU) for real-time processing owing to its suitability for parallel processing.
Reconstructed 3D data from computer vision includes necessarily a noise or an error. When these data goes through a mesh process, the different 3D mesh data from original shape comes to make by a noise or an error. This paper proposed the method that smooths a noise effectively by noise analysis in reconstructed 3D data. Because the proposed method is smooths a noise using the area ratio of the mesh, the pre-processing of unusable mesh is necessary in 3D mesh data. This study detects a peak noise and Gaussian noise using the ratio of 3D volume and 2D area of mesh and smooths the noise with respect of its characteristics. The experimental results using synthetic and real data demonstrated the efficacy and performance of proposed algorithm.

An aerodynamic shape optimization technique has been developed for helicopter rotor blades in hover based on a continuous adjoint method on unstructured meshes. The Euler flow solver and the continuous adjoint sensitivity analysis were formulated on the rotating frame of reference for hovering rotor blades. In order to handle the repeated evaluation of the design cycle efficiently, the flow and adjoint solvers were parallelized using a domain decomposition strategy. A solution-adaptive mesh refinement technique was adopted for the accurate capturing of the tip vortex. Applications were made for the aerodynamic shape optimization of Caradonna-Tung rotor blades and UH60 rotor blades in hover. The results showed that the present method is an effective tool to determine optimum aerodynamic shapes of rotor blades requiring less torque while maintaining the desired thrust level.
In the shape optimization based on the finite element method, the accuracy of finite element analysis of a given structure is important to determine the final shape. In case of a bending dominant problem, finite element solutions by the full integration scheme are not reliable because of the locking phenomenon. Furthermore, in the process of shape optimization, the mesh distortion is large due to the change of the structure outline: therefore, we cannot guarantee the accurate result unless the finite element itself is accurate. We approach to more accurate shape optimization to diminish these inaccuracies by improving the existing finite element. The shape optimization using the modified finite element is applied to a two-dimensional simple beam. Results show that the modified finite element have improved the optimization results.
A new blank design method is proposed to predict the optimum initial blank shape in the sheet metal forming process. The rollback method for blank shape design takes the difference between the deformed blank contour and the target contour shape into account. the minimization object function R is proposed. Based on the method, a computer program composed of blank design module, FE-analysis module and mesh generation module is developed. The rollback method is applied to square cup, reentrant cross section, L-shaped cup drawing process with the flange of uniform size around its periphery to confirm its validity. The optimum initial blank shape is obtained from an arbitrary blank shape after several modifications. Good agreements are recognized between the numerical results and the published experimental results for initial blank shape and thickness strain distribution. It is concluded that the rollback method is an effective and convenient method for an optimum blank shape design.

Research for climate control seats is being vigorously pursued because requests for passenger's thermal comfort are increasing. Recently, thermoelectric devices have been applied to automotive seats for both cooling and heating operations. The climate control seats using thermoelectric devices can rapidly control the air temperature passing through the devices and directly affect the thermal comfort of passengers. The performance characteristics of the climate control seats were analyzed by experiments for two different types of a leather covered seat and a mesh applied seat. Experimental results show that the cooling and heating performance for the mesh applied seat by using the discharge port of the shape of nozzle was improved significantly in comparison with that for the leather covered seat. The variation of temperature between the inlet air and the outlet air of the climate control seat for the enhanced mesh applied type was by $-3.5^{\circ}C$ at cooling mode, and was by $15.0^{\circ}C$ at heating mode, after about 30 minutes, respectively. Also, it is possible to provide rapid thermal comfort to passengers sitting on the seat in the vehicle cabin by using the proposed climate control seat.
