  • This paper describes the generation of chordal surface for various shell structures, such as automobile bodies, plastic injection mold components and shell metal parts. After one-layered tetrahedral mesh is generated by an advancing front algorithm, the chordal surface is generated by cutting a tetrahedral element. It is generated one or two elements at a tetrahedral element and the chordal surface is composed with triangular or quadrilateral elements. This algorithm has been tested on several models with rib structure.

  • An electric fan for cooling high density electronic devices is limited and operated in very low efficiency. The corona discharge is utilized as the driving mechanism for an ionic gas pump, which allows for air flow control and generation with low noise and no moving parts. These ideal characteristics of ionic pump give rise to variety applications. However, all of these applications would benefit from maximizing the flow velocities and yields of the ionic pump. In this study, a needle-mesh type ionic pump has been investigated by focusing on the radius of curvature of corona needle points elevating the ionic wind velocity and efficiency. It is found that the radius of curvature of the corona discharge needle point influences significantly to produce the ionic wind and efficiency. As a result, an elevated ionic wind velocity and increased ionic wind generation yield can be obtained by optimized the radius of curvature of the corona needle electrode.

  • This paper describes a novel automated analysis system for bellows of piping system. An automatic finite element (FE) mesh generation technique, which is based on the fuzzy theory and computational geometry technique, is incorporated into the system, together with one of commercial FE analysis codes and one of commercial solid modelers. In this system, a geometric model, i.e. an analysis model, is first defined using a commercial solid modelers for 3-D shell structures. Node is generated if its distance from existing node points is similar to the node spacing function at the point. The node spacing function is well controlled by the fuzzy knowledge processing. The Delaunay triangulation technique is introduced as a basic tool for element generation. The triangular elements are converted to quadrilateral elements. Practical performances of the present system are demonstrated through several analysis for bellows of piping system.

  • The NURBS surfaces are widely employed for exchanging geometric models between different CAD/CAE systems. However if the input NURBS surfaces are poorly parameterized, most surface meshing algorithms may fail or the constructed meshes can be ill-conditioned. In this paper presents a new method is presented that can generate well conditioned meshes even on poorly parameterized NURBS surfaces by regenerating NURBS surfaces. To begin with, adequate Points are sample on original poorly parameterized surfaces and new surfaces are created by interpolating these points. And then. mesh generation is performed on new surfaces. With this method, models with poorly parameterized NURBS surfaces can be meshed successfully.

  • A simple octree encoding algorithm based on a tetrahedron root has been developed to be used for fully automatic generation of three dimensional finite element meshes. This algorithm starts octree decomposition from a tetrahedron root node instead of a hexahedron root node so that the terminal mode has the same topology as the final tetrahedral mesh. As a result, the terminal octant can be used as a tetrahedral finite element without transforming its topology. In this part(I) of the thesis, an efficient algorithm for the tetrahedron-based octree is proposed. For this development, the following problems have been solved, : (1) an efficient data structure for storing the octree and finite elements, (2) an encoding scheme of a tetrahedral octree, (3) a neighbor finding technique for the tetrahedron-based octree.

라인(line) 제약조건을 가지는 2차원 사각 메쉬의 자동 생성 알고리즘 (An Algorithm of Automatic 2D Quadrilateral Mesh Generation with the Line Constraints)

  • FEM (Finite Element Method) is a fundamental numerical analysis technique in wide spread use in engineering application. As the solving time occupies small portion of entire FEM analysis time because of development of hardware, the relative lime to the whole analysis time to make mesh mod-els is growing. In particular, in the case of stiffeners such as features attached to plate in ship structure, the line constraints are imposed on mesh model together with other constraints such as holes. To auto-matically generate two dimensional quadrilateral mesh with the line constraints, an algorithm is pro-posed based on the constrained Delaunay triangulation and Q-Morph algorithm in which the line constraints are not considered. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated. And some numerical results of our proposed algorithm ate presented.

  • An efficient automatic mesh generator suitable for the harsh model, which contains abrupt regions and thin layers, is implemented. It adopts two kinds of node placement scheme. In the beginning, the initial nodes on the boundary are generated automatically by an efficient boundary node generation scheme. And then the inner nodes are placed using nodal spacing value technique repeatedly from the initial mesh to final mesh. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is verified by a thin film micro-strip line modeling, where the final mesh contains no sliver elements.

반모서리 기반의 삼각망 자료 구조 개발 (Development of Halfedge-based Triangular Mesh Data Structure)

  • Triangular mesh models are widely used in reverse engineering, computer graphics, rapid prototyping and NC(numerical controller) tool-path generation. Triangular mesh models are generated from point clouds, surface models and solid models. A halfedge-based triangular mesh data structure is proposed and the development considerations are presented. In the presented data structure, halfedge is the key data structure. Halfedge stores its triangle index and the order in the triangle. Triangles do not store the halfedge lists explicitly. Halfedge is referred by value and defined when it is required. Proposed data structure supports four design requirements: efficient rendering, compact memory, supporting efficient algorithms and easy programming.

무인항공사진측량 소프트웨어를 이용한 3차원 공간정보 생성 및 비교 (Generation and Comparison of 3-Dimensional Geospatial Information using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Photogrammetry Software)

  • 연구목적: 다양한 목적으로 생성되는 무인비행체 기반의 공간정보를 서로 다른 SW로 생성하고, 정사영상 및 DSM의 위치정확도 분석과 3D mesh의 텍스처 매핑을 비교 분석하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 서로 다른 두 개의 SW를 이용하여 동일한 무인항공영상 데이터를 처리하고, 공간정보를 생성하였다. 생성된 공간정보 중 정사영상과 DSM은 수평위치 및 수직위치 오차의 RMSE를 계산함으로써 정량적 분석을 수행하고, 정성적 분석을 수행함으로써 무인항공사진측량 SW의 공간정보 생성 결과를 비교분석하고자 하였다. 연구결과: 각각의 SW로 생성된 정사영상 및 DSM의 위치정확도에서는 큰 차이가 없었으며, 3D mesh의 텍스쳐 매핑에서 차이를 보였다. 3D mesh의 생성에는 무인항공사진측량 SW가 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다. 결론: 무인비행체 기반의 공간분석을 위한 정사영상, DSM의 생성에는 SW에 따른 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났으나 3D 가시화를 목적으로 할 경우에는 SW에 따라 텍스처 매핑 결과가 다르게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다.
