  • This study explores a structural model to examine the relationship between web browsing motivation, retail strategy and purchase conversion for apparel on shopping websites. A self-administered questionnaire based on existing scales includes web browsing motivation, retail strategy, and purchase conversion intention of apparel on the shopping websites. A total of 499 usable questionnaires were obtained from consumers aging 20 to 49 who reside in metropolitan cities in Korea. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation models were used via SPSS 12.0 and LISREL 8.8. Findings concluded that web browsing motivations consisted of three factors: hedonic, informational, and recreational browsing for apparel. Hedonic browsing had a negative effect on purchase conversion intention, whereas informational browsing had a positive effect on the purchase conversion intention for apparel on shopping sites. Retail strategies on the website were classified into service, merchandise assortment, and price & promotion; the three elements of retail strategies mediated the relationship between web browsing motivations and purchase conversion intention for apparel. Specially, merchandise assortment had significantly direct effect on the purchase conversion intention of apparel on shopping websites. Managerial implications were discussed for fashion marketers to develop retail strategies and web content in order to convert web browsers or visitors into purchasers.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the strategic implication of the Korean open air market by examining the factors affecting their competitiveness. I have undertaken empirical research that uses the methodology of a mixture regression modeling, as a way to ascertain the determinants of competitiveness for the Korean open air market. I construct a mixture regression model which uses the proportions of merchandise categories as explanatory variables and the number of visitors as a dependent variable. The analysis of results show that competitive and non-competitive markets have different proportions of merchandise categories. The finding shows that stock farm products and home appliances are major influencers on the number of visitors in neighborhood markets. The finding also presents that stock farm products and processed foods are major influencers on the number of visitors in small & medium-sized city markets.

  • The main purpose of this study is to conceptualize and investigate the relationship between customer satisfaction and the linking variables of customer loyalty in internet shopping mall including general merchandise and specialized online mall. To achieve this objective, the study tries to validate the structural equation model and causal relationships among the model's elements involving customer satisfaction, customer trust, customer attitude, relationship involvement, and customer loyalty. The same research model was used in analysing general merchandise and specialized internet shopping mall to reveal and compare the casual path constructs. Empirical findings are as follows: First, all the hypothesis concerned with internet merchandise shopping mall were accepted but the direct effects between satisfaction $\Rightarrow$ loyalty and satisfaction $\Rightarrow$ attitude rejected in case of specialized internet shopping mall. Second, I found out that there were direct or indirect relationships between the mediating variables(satisfaction, attitude, involvement) and site trust and customer loyalty irrespective of internet shopping site patterns. In Particular, the direct effects of on customer loyalty showed the difference each other, but the indirect effects through satisfaction, attitude, or relationship involvement were all accepted. This means that the proper management concerned with indirect path is probably more important for the success of all kinds of internet shopping mall. The implications of this research may be summarized as follows. First, click and mortar companies should clearly understand and articulate the key requirements of shopping mall trust and satisfaction. Second, online companies are encouraged to establish linkage including trust, positive attitude, relationship involvement in order to foster customer loyalty. Third, companies are not only required to differentiate the internet marketing strategy adapting to the patterns of internet shopping mall but also to customize the interaction strategy in the formation process of customer loyalty.

  • This study empirically analyzes the relationships among small and medium-sized stores' competitive strategies, marketing capabilities, and retail performance to cope with hostile environments like mass merchandisers' threats. To accomplish the proposed research objectives, data were collected from 325 small and medium-sized stores scattered nationwide. Three types of competitive strategies were significantly classified as follows cost leadership, merchandise differentiation, and service differentiation. Also, several strategic groups such as doing-nothing type, service differentiation type, cost leadership type, and merchandiser differentiation type were recognized through the cluster analysis. The test results show that the small and medium-sized stores perceiving hostile environments less importantly marked the high retail performance among clusters like cost leadership type, merchandise differentiation type, and even doing-nothing type. On the other hand, the moderating effects resulted from the interaction between strategic groups and environmental hostility did not have significant influence on retail performance. Additionally, merchandise differentiation cluster obtains and accumulates marketing capability most efficiently and the cluster like cost leadership, service differentiation, and doing-nothing follows next in order. Finally, merchandise differentiation cluster shows the most highest retail performance among the clusters while there was no difference between cost leadership and service differentiation cluster in terms of retail performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among customer satisfaction, trust, and loyalty and examine the differences and similarities between specialized and general merchandise internet shopping malls concerning the relationships of these key success factors. The structural model is tested with each of the sub-samples(i.e., specialized and general merchandise shopping customers taken separately) and the data from entire data samples(i.e., specialized and general merchandise shopping customers pooled together). The same research model was used in analysing general merchandise, specialized, and integrated internet shopping mall to reveal and compare the casual path constructs. In the analysis of path coefficients composed of separated taken sample, all research hypothesis is accepted and the model's goodness of fit also shows all high. In the basis of the previous empirical test, multiple sample method was used. Properties of the causal paths, including standardized path coefficients, the significance of difference, latent correlations and variance explained for satisfaction, trust and loyalty in the hypothesized model, have similarities in general. This means that the proper structural management concerned with customer satisfaction, trust and loyalty is very crucial for the success of all kinds of internet shopping malls. Following the model test, I conduct a test of integrated model's path coefficients. Statistical results show that all the hypothesis concerned with internet shopping malls were accepted like the separated sample test. Click and mortar companies should clearly understand and articulate the key requirements of shopping mall satisfaction, trust and loyalty and encourage to establish linkage and interactive relationship among the research variables. In addition, internet marketers are required to customize the interaction considering and adapting the patterns of internet shopping malls. Other interesting results concerning the strategies in internet shopping malls strategy are also presented.

  • The purpose of the research is to provide the operation plans of internet marketing for effective application as marketing tools by analyzing the application status of marketing mix through the 30 websites of sportswear brands. Firstly, a study on the marketing mix strategy of sportswear brands presents that most brands put a high priority on promotion strategy by achieving online marketing. Secondly, compared with the other company brands which have online shopping mall, the website of sportswear brands consists of centered brand image. Therefore, based on the analysis about the variety of products and merchandise picture in each item and detailed information offer of neo-products introduction, marketing mix is insufficient in the website of sportswear and the price strategy has the least information. After website of sportswear brands is connected with online-shopping mall, guidance for its price and product is performed mainly. Consequently the sales promotion strategy of price needs development through the incentive and discount price. Promotion strategy occupies more parts than any other strategy. Especially, it allows a high proportion of the variety of events and information for the customer services. Also it needs to improve its bulletin board and Q&A board on the website for better communication with customers. Furthermore distribution strategy focuses on information such as location, contact numbers and address of the online shopping mall. Although online shopping mall has its own advantage which is marketing on the internet, it is not yet in progress.
