  • Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data for a health promotion program by analyzing the effects of high school students' mental health-related factors on oral symptom experiences. Methods: This study included 24,833 high school students who participated in the screening and health survey in the "17th (2021) Adolescent Health Behavior Survey." SPSS software (SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0; IBM) was used for statistical analysis. Multiple sample logistic regression analysis was performed. The significance level was set to 0.05. Results: The result of the analysis on the effect of mental health revealed that oral symptom experience was low in students without depression and suicidal thoughts. Oral symptom experience was high in students with stress perception. Additionally, the experience of oral symptoms was low when there was sufficient subjective sleep. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to develop a customized oral health education program for early detection of oral symptoms and oral health promotion in high school students. Furthermore, it suggests the need for strategies and continuous oral health guidance to practice proper oral health habits to maintain healthy oral conditions.

  • Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a highly prevalent, impairing, and comorbid disorder that persists into adulthood. ADHD should be diagnosed in the same manner as other common adult mental health disorders. The three most important components in the comprehensive evaluation of patients with ADHD are the clinical interview, medical examination, and completion and scoring of behavior rating scales. The diagnostic evaluation of ADHD should include questions about the symptoms, family history, prior evaluation and treatment of ADHD, as well as other problems including alcohol and drug use. Screening interviews or rating scales, as well as interviews, should be used. When it is feasible, clinicians may wish to supplement these components of the evaluation with the objective assessments of the ADHD symptoms, such as through psychological tests. These tests are not essential to reaching a diagnosis, however, or to treatment planning, but may yield further information about the presence and severity of cognitive impairments that could be associated with some cases of ADHD. As comorbidity is the rule rather than the exception, clinicians should carefully screen for comorbid disorders as part of a comprehensive assessment of ADHD. To receive a diagnosis of ADHD, the person must be experiencing significant distress or impairment in his or her daily functioning, and must not meet the criteria for other mental disorders which might better account for the observed symptoms, such as mental retardation, autism or other pervasive developmental disorders, mood disorders and anxiety disorders. This report aims to suggest practice guidelines for the assessment and diagnosis of children, adolescents and adults with ADHD in Korea.

  • Traditional Korean medicine and traditional Korean (Hanbang) nursing are very similar disciplines in terms of philosophy, values, and identity. Traditional Korean medicine views that harmonious and balanced human body and mental state can be formed through the flow of Qi and blood using meridians and acupressure points. This view can be applied to research, practice, theory, and education in Hanbang nursing. The meridian is a pathway through which Qi and blood, the energy necessary for life activities, pass through. Acupressure points are important meridians where physical, mental, and psychological health conditions appear as a response. Pressing and stimulating acupressure points to facilitate and communicate the flow of qi and blood in the meridians can create positive effects and enable the treatment of various symptoms and syndromes of our bodies. Hanbang nursing nursing, which is also based on the use of meridians, may be used to control various symptoms and syndromes and prevent and treat diseases. Currently, Hanbang nursing are growing along with the professionalism of Hanbang nursing practice, vitalization of Hanbang nursing research, and the development of Hanbang nursing education and theory. The growth of Hanbang nursing requires active participation of nursing scholars and efforts to converge beyond the walls of medicine and nursing.

  • A cross-sectional, descriptive-correlational design was employed in this study. The main purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between female adolescents' mental health and their perception of family characteristics, such as family adaptability, family cohesion, family type, and family satisfaction, The theoretical rationale for this study is the 3-Dimensionl Circumplex Model that was formulated by Olson, et al. With respect to method, a structured questionnaire was employed to obtain the data. A total of 199 female students(high school second year) were recruited by convenience sampling. Data for this study were collected in October 1994 after a pilot study and pretest of the tools. The research tool used the following four self-report research types : Youth Self-Report (YSR) developed by Achenbach and Edelbrock, Family Adaptability & Cohesion Evaluation Scales (FACES) III, Family Satisfaction(FS) developed by Olson, et al. and a Demographic Data Sheet. The resulting data were processed using an SPSS PC for a Pearson prod uct-moment correlation coefficient, ANOVA. A linear relationship were found between female students' mental health and their perceived family cohesion(r=-.2237, p<.001), and family satisfaction(r=-.3951, p<.001), but no significant correlations was found between female students' mental health and their perceived adaptability. These findings demonstrated that family cohesion, family type, and family satisfaction were more powerful predictors than family adaptability. This study contributes to nursing practice by demonstrating the usefulness of YSR to differentiate deviant behavior in youth and also by providing nursing interventions designed to promote female mental health.

The participants were 310 adults living in the Seoul/Gyeonggi Province. For data collection, an online survey was conducted using a semi-structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using PROCESS Macro (Model 6) to validate the dual mediating effects. This study analyzed the direct effects of COVID-19 fears on the mental health problems, sleep problems and preventive practices. Both mental health and sleep problems had dual mediating effects in the influence of COVID-19 fears on preventive practices. Preventive practice has shown that the mediated effects of mental health problems play a strong role in instances when COVID-19 fears increase.
