The subjects of the study were the elderly aged 65 or older, 512 working elderly and 862 non-working elderly, with a total of 1,374 people. In particular, the non-working elderly had a lower health-related quality of life at twice (95%CI=1.32-3.14) in the area of self-care compared to the working elderly. Anxiety/depression was found to be 1.6 times (95%CI=1.19-2.35), daily activity 1.6 times (95%CI=1.18-2.25), mobility 1.5 times (95%CI=1.19-1.92), and pain/discomfort 1.2 times (95%CI=1.02-1.64). Therefore, based on this, it is suggested that it is necessary to develop a program that can maintain and promote the independent standard of living and mental health of the elderly.

  • Donghaean Byeolsingut itself reflects the ideals and dreams of seaside life. Imagination and interest in water are fully reflected in Donghaean Byeolsingut as a living in a seaside town. For the beach people, water is the foundation of life and the object of fear. It is the water of life and the water of death. It projects the whole process of life into the imagination created by the world encompassed by the sea. The beach's imagination is an existential insight into the whole process of life and a reflection of existential agony. At Poongeoje, the villagers hope for a specific blessing from God. People are free only when God's retribution comes down. The villagers feel free because of the virtue of the shaman's blessing. Individual trauma is experienced to a certain extent by gaining mental freedom. It can be said that the state of aesthetic pleasure experienced by creating an art work by itself and the nature of aesthetic pleasure experienced through Pungeoje and Byeolsingut are not different. The prototype of Poongeoje is a free spirit, and a religious aesthetic to strengthen the free spirit is the core of the aesthetic.

Big Five Aspects accounted for 66.2% of the variance in subjective well-being and withdrawal, compassion, industriousness, enthusiasm, assertiveness, openness significantly predicted subjective well-being. Life satisfaction and depression were significantly predicted by withdrawal and enthusiasm. Withdrawal was the only variable that significantly predicted anxiety. Multiple regression also showed that withdrawal and enthusiasm were the most consistent, accountable variables in predicting overall psychological adjustment. This findings indicate that individual's personality traits played a significant role in predicting subjective well-being and mental health as consistent with past findings, and that the Big Five Aspects can offer more detailed and specific description than the Big Five can. Finally, the research discusses implications, limitations and suggestions for further studies.
