The Effects of College Life Adaptability on Career Preparation Behaviors of College Students: Mediating Effects of Major Satisfaction, Job Stress, and Self-Directed Learning

  • This study is a study to empirically verify the mediating effect on college life adaptation and career preparation behavior of college students. The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the multi-mediated effects of major satisfaction, job stress, and self-directed learning. For this study, 216 university students were enrolled. For the collected data, SPSS Process macro was used. The result is as follows. First, there were multiple parallel mediating effects and multiple serial mediating effects on major satisfaction, job stress, and self-directed learning between college life adaptability and career preparation behavior. Second, the path of simple mediation and double mediation effect was found between college life adaptation and career preparation behavior. Based on the research, the necessity of revitalizing the program for revitalization of teaching activities and industry-academic cooperation activities in the major field and improvement of career preparation behavior and university life adaptation ability and follow-up research were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the effects of menu price and image on perceived sacrifice and value of tourist restaurant, the mediating effects of perceived sacrifice on the relationships between menu price and value, and between image and value. A total of 273 questionnaires were completed. ANCOVA was used to measure the mediating effects of perceived sacrifice on the relationships among menu price, image, and value. When the menu price and perceived sacrifice were regressed on the value, the menu price and perceived sacrifice were statistically significant. Moreover, when the image and perceived sacrifice were regressed on the value, the image and perceived sacrifice had a statistically significant effects on value. The results demonstrated that perceived sacrifice played a mediating role in the relationship between menu price and value.

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the mediating effects of health concern and depression on the stress and fatigue of COVID-19 self-quarantine. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. A total of 227 people with COVID-19 self-quarantine experience were recruited during May 2021. Participants were invited to complete self-reported questionnaires that measure stress, health concern, depression, fatigue and demographic information. The data obtained were analyzed using multiple regression and dual mediation model applying the PROCESS macro with 95% bias-corrected bootstrap confidence interval. Results: This study analyzed the direct effects of COVID-19 stress on the health concern, depression and fatigue. And COVID-19 stress had indirect effects on their fatigue via health concern and depression. Both health concern and depression had dual mediating effects in the influence of COVID-19 stress on fatigue. In the relationship between COVID-19 stress and fatigue, the mediating effect of depression was significant. Conclusion: Fatigue due to prolonged COVID-19 can be alleviated by managing stress and mediating health concern and depression, and so therefore active nursing intervention is required.

  • Purpose: This study determined acculturative stress' effect on the life satisfaction of multicultural adolescents based on Roy's Adaptation Model and some earlier studies. Further, it examined the sequential multiple mediating effects of bicultural acceptance attitude, self-esteem, and social withdrawal on life satisfaction. Methods: Participants included 1,163 multicultural adolescents who participated in the sixth Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study. A hypothesis test was conducted using Hayes' Process Macro Model 81. Results: Life satisfaction increased with a decline in acculturative stress. Each of bicultural acceptance attitude, self-esteem, and social withdrawal had a single mediating effect on the relationship between acculturative stress and life satisfaction in multicultural adolescents. The sequential multiple mediating effects of bicultural acceptance attitude and self-esteem were confirmed significant after their impact on the relationship between acculturative stress and life satisfaction was analyzed. Bicultural acceptance attitude and social withdrawal were found to have a significant sequential multiple mediating effect on the relationship, as well. Conclusion: This study's results demonstrate that acculturative stress reduction is critical to improving multicultural adolescents' life satisfaction. Bicultural acceptance attitude, self-esteem, and social withdrawal have a single mediating or sequential multiple mediating effect on the relationship between multicultural adolescents' acculturative stress and life satisfaction. The findings, which highlight mediating effects, indicate that by increasing bicultural acceptance attitude and self-esteem, and reducing social withdrawal, multicultural adolescents' life satisfaction can be improved.

대학생의 애착과 삶의 질의 다중 매개변인: 스트레스, 정서, 사회적지지, 정신건강문제 (Multiple Mediating Effects between Attachment and Life Quality among Freshmen in University: Stress, Affect, Social Support, Mental Health)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the multiple mediating effects between attachment and life quality among university freshmen, regards on positive and negative affect, stress, social support and mental health as mediating factors. 200 freshmen were selected for the questionnaire study in a university in Busan. There were significant correlations among positive and negative affect, stress, social support, mental health and life quality with attachment. The maximum likelihood estimation revealed that attachment had no direct link with life quality. Attachment had indirect effects on life quality, mediated by positive affect and mental health. The results and limitations of this study were also discussed, from the perspective of attachment theory and previous studies.

The Mediating Effects of Self-Control and Impulsiveness On Self-Esteem and Smart Phone Addition In College Students

  • This study aimed to analyse the effects of self-control and impulsiveness of college students on smart phone addition and whether self-esteem has mediating effects on them. For the purposes, this study interviewed 4-year college students in Gwangju City with the use of a questionnaire and 314 copies of the responses were used for a final analysis. The data collected was analysed with the use of SPSS 22.0 and the results are presented as follows: First, behavior impulsiveness has a positive effect on self-esteem and smart phone addiction. Second, self-esteem had a positive effect on smart phone addiction. Third, it was discovered that behavior impulsiveness had a positive effect on smart phone addiction through an analysis of mediating effects while self-esteem had an indirect effect on it. Therefore, it was suggested that more care should be paid on smart phone addiction and development of programs against it should be facilitated.

청소년들이 지각한 부모의 양육 태도와 신체화 증상의 관계에서 그릿과 우울의 이중 매개효과 (The Serial Mediating Effects of Grit and Depression on the Relationship between Negative Parenting Style and Somatic Symptoms among Adolescents )

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the sequential mediating effects of grit and depression on the relationship between negative parenting style and functional somatic symptoms. Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS). Mediation analysis was conducted using the PROCESS macro model 6. Results: The mediating effects of grit and depression between negative parenting style and functional somatic symptoms were significant. A negative parenting style was found to significantly affect functional somatic symptoms going through sequential mediating effects of grit and depression. Conclusion: To alleviate functional somatic symptoms in adolescents, it is necessary to provide interventions for developing grit that could reduce depression.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of self-esteem and meaning of life in the relationship between stress and depression in adults. Methods: The subjects of this study were 162 adults aged 19 to 64 who live in Jeollabuk-do and capital area. Data were collected from March to April 2018. The data were analyzed by independent t-test and one way ANOVA analysis. The mediating effects were verified by the Bootstrapping method using the PROCESS macro for SPSS. Results: The results showed that stress had a direct effect on self-esteem and depression, self-esteem had a direct effect on depression. Self-esteem had a mediating effect on the relationship between stress and depression. However, the meaning of life did not have any direct or mediating effects on depression. Conclusion: In order to reduce depression in adults, strategies for improving self-esteem are needed along with stress management. As for the effect of life meaning on depression, it is necessary to measure and apply the meaning of multidimensional life repeatedly.

취업모의 완벽주의와 양육행동 간의 관계: 일-가정 갈등과 양육죄책감의 이중매개효과 (Relationship between Perfectionism and Parenting Behavior of Working Mothers: Double Mediating Effects of Work-family Conflict and Parenting Guilt)

  • This study examined the double mediating effects of work-family conflict and parenting guilt on the relationship between perfectionism and parenting behavior for working mothers. The survey was conducted on 340 working mothers with 3 to 5 year-old children, who lived in Daegu and Kyungpook Province, Korea. Data were collected through questionnaires on perfectionism, work-family conflict, parenting guilt, and parenting behavior. To analyze the collected data, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and analysis of variance were conducted by using SPSS 22.0 and Model 6 in PROCESS macro, with bootstrapping method. Work-family conflict and parenting guilt were used as mediators. Children's birth order and household income were controlled throughout the analysis. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, work-family conflict and parenting guilt had inconsistent double mediating effects on the relationship between adaptive perfectionism and positive parenting behavior. Second, work-family conflict and parenting guilt had complete double mediating effects on the relationship between adaptive perfectionism and negative parenting behavior. Third, work-family conflict and parenting guilt did not have double mediating effects on the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and positive parenting behavior. Finally, work-family conflict and parenting guilt had partial double mediating effects on the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and negative parenting behavior. The findings provide a better understanding of the relationship between perfectionism and parenting behavior. The results also have implications for providing education for and counseling working mothers with children.

교사와 유아 간의 관계와 유아의 사회적 능력간의 관계에서 유아 수줍음의 매개효과 (The Mediating Effects of Young Children's Shyness on the Relationship between Teacher-Children Relationship and Young Children's Social Competence)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of young children's shyness on the relationship between teacher-children relationship and young children's social competence. The subjects of the study were 270 children from three years to five years old and their teachers in Busan. Frequency, t-test, Cronbach ${\alpha}$, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchial regression were used for data analysis. The results were as follows: first, teacher-children intimacy showed positive correlation with the young children's social competence. Teacher-children conflict showed negative correlation with the young children's social competence. Second, teacher-children intimacy showed negative correlation with the young children's shyness. Teacher-children conflict showed positive correlation with the young children's shyness. Third, young children's shyness showed negative correlation with the young children's social competence. Fourth, young children's shyness had partial mediating effects on the relationship between teacher-children intimacy and young children's sociability. Young children's shyness had partial mediating effects on the relationship between teacher-children intimacy and young children's popularity and leadership. Young children's shyness had partial mediating effects on the relationship between teacher- children conflict and young children's sociability. Young children's shyness had partial mediating effects on the relationship between teacher-children conflict and young children's popularity and leadership.
