This paper introduces a design scheme of intelligent gas valve management and service system based on Internet. This scheme adds sensor and general packet radio service (GPRS) modules to the traditional gas valve and establishes communication connection between gas valve and the server through wireless packet communication technology, which makes the traditional gas valve have the networking ability. Compared with the traditional gas valve management and service business, the method proposed in this paper is more convenient and efficient.
Soft ground has complex features in mechanic character of ground. Some problems about the settlement and transformation occur if the ground strength is comparatively weak and the depth is large. Therefore, we should consider physical and mechanical characters for safe, economical design and management. As the result of the course, we can compare them with those of field then solve the limitations which were came from the complex character of the soft ground. I have considered the soil's physical character (specific gravity of soil particles, moisture content, grain-size analysis etc) and mechanical character (direct shear test, consolidation, triaxial shear test etc), and then make out a linear interpolation by regression using the two, those and connection of the depth
In the associate degree curriculum of the department of mechanical engineering, the results of the study are presented on the structure and content of a subject based on the case-based learning method. As an case, equipment called a laminator that is actually used in the manufacturing site was selected. Class deals with specific engineering issues at each stage of laminator manufacturing (design-machining-assembly-measurement-maintenance) in connection with general engineering topics in prerequisites in the curriculum. Topics include tolerance fit, length measurement, assembly practice, measurement design and statistics of machine maintenance, etc. Courses that apply the case-based learning method may be included in the curriculum as complementary roles to those that apply other student-centered learning method.
The antenna is mounted on the vehicle and operated, so its components must be able to withstand the shock that may occur while driving. In this study, the stability of antenna mounted on the vehicle is verified through the connection between modal analysis and transient analysis. The shock data used was taken from MIL-STD-810H, METHOD 516.8. As a result of the analysis of antenna, the maximum equivalent stress 169.49MPa and minimum margin of safety 2.31 has occurred on the bracket of antenna. Thus, it was found that the antenna has enough stability during the operation.
Different methods have been proposed in the literature for splicing the reinforcing bars in the construction of concrete structures, which are alternatively used depending on design requirements. The most common approach is the lap splicing which is known as a cost-effective method although, its main disadvantages including congestion of bars at the lap zone and consequently, material wastage has motivated utilization of the other techniques such as mechanical splices (couplers). To better evaluate the performance of the couplers, 6 reinforced concrete (RC) beams whose difference is only the type and location of splices have been experimentally studied in this paper. Based on the results, the mechanical connection of the bars did not markedly affect the load-carrying capacity of the specimens. Moreover, it was observed that after applying the loads and failure of the specimens, none of the bars ruptured at the splice location and all couplers remained undamaged.
As Decentralized Generation(DG) becomes more reliable and economically feasible, it is expected that a higher application of DG units would be interconnected to the existing grids. This new market penetration of DG technologies is linked to a large number of factors like technologies costs and performances, interconnection issues, safety, market regulations, environmental issues or grid connection constrains. This paper describes the procedures and results for the mechanical, electrical, and environmental tests of MGT on actual grid-connection under Korean regulations. As one of the achievements, the simulation model of MGT was developed, so that it will be able to analyze or propose new distributed generation system using MGT. The field test was conducted in order to respond to a wide variety of needs for noise reduction and utilization and its performance was evaluated in consideration of its operational problems. The MGT is successfully supplying electricity to Korean grids with satisfying various regulations. The suggested strategy and experience for the evaluation of the distributed generation will be used for the introduction of other distributed generation technologies into the grid in the future.
In this paper, a novel but practical approach named series/parallel multi-sensing technique was proposed to evaluate the bolt looseness in a bolt group. The smart washers (SWs), which were fabricated by embedding a Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) transducer into two flat metal rings, were installed to the bolts group. By series connection of SWs, the impedance signals of different bolts can be obtained through only one sweep. Therefore, once the loosening occurred, the shift of different peak frequencies can be used to locate which bolt has loosened. The proposed multi input single output (MISO) damage detection scheme is very suitable for the structural health monitoring (SHM) of joint with a large number of bolts connection. Another notable contribution of this paper is the proposal of 3-dB bandwidth root mean square deviation (3 dB-RMSD) which can quantitatively evaluate the severity of bolt looseness. Compared with the traditional naked-eye observation method, the equivalent circuit based 3-dB bandwidth can accurately define the calculation range of RMSD. An experiment with three bolted connection specimens that installed the SWs was carried out to validate our proposed approach. Experimental result shows that the proposed 3 dB-RMSD based multi-sensing technique can not only identify the loosened bolt but also monitor the severity of bolt looseness.

In autobody assembly, thin-wall, tubular connections have been used for the frame structure. Recent interest in light materials, such as aluminum or magnesium alloys, has been rapidly growing for weight reduction and fuel efficiency. Due to higher thermal expansion coefficient, low stiffness/strength, and low softening temperature of aluminum and magnesium alloys, control of welding-induced distortion in these connections becomes a critical issue. In this study, the material sensitivity to welding distortion was investigated using a T-tubular connection of three types materials; low carbon steel (A500 Gr. A), aluminum alloy (5456-H116) and magnesium alloy (AZ91C-T6). An uncoupled thermal and mechanical finite element analysis scheme using the ABAQUS software program was developed to model and simulate the welding process, welding procedure and material behaviors. The predicted angular distortions were correlated to the cumulative plastic strains. A unique relationship between distortion and plastic strains exists for all three materials studied. The amount of distortion is proportional to the magnitude and distribution of the cumulative plastic strains in the weldment. The magnesium alloy has the highest distortion sensitivity, followed by the other two materials with the steel connection having the least distortion. Results from studies of thin-aluminum plates show that welding distortion can be minimized by reducing the cumulative plastic strains by preventing heat diffusion into the base metal using a strong heat sink placed directly beneath the weld. A rapid cooling method is recommended to reduce welding distortion of magnesium tubular connections.
The crimping connection is a permanent connection that maintains mechanical and electrical property for a long time by crimping two conductors. In this paper, we have done a basic study to make a decision the normal or abnormal condition depending on crimping. By using PZT piezo-sensor, we have compared and analyzed crimping waveforms of abnormal conditions(core ommiting, cover biting) at the normal crimping height. And hence the normal or abnormal condition of crimping connections in real time could be determined by comparison of crimping waveforms in the cases of normal crimping, core omitting and cover biting.
As the distributed generation becomes more reliable and economically feasible, it is expected that a higher application of the distributed generation units would be interconnected to the existing grids. This new market penetration using the distributed generation technology is linked to a large number of factors like economics and performance, safety and reliability, market regulations, environmental issues, or grid connection standards. KEPCO, a government company in Korea, has performed the project to identify and evaluate the performance of Micro Gas Turbine(MGT) technologies focused on 30, 60kW-class grid-connected optimization and combined Heat & Power performance. This paper describes the results for the mechanical, electrical, and environmental tests of MGT on actual grid-connection under Korean regulations. As one of the achievements, the simulation model of Exhaust-gas Absorption Chiller was developed, so that it will be able to analyze or propose new distributed generation system using MGT. In addition, KEPCO carried out the field testing of the MGT Cogeneration system at the R&D Center Building, KEPCO. The field test was conducted in order to respond to a wide variety of needs for heat recovery and utilization. The suggested method and experience for the evaluation of the distributed generation will be used for the introduction of other distributed generation technologies into the grid in the future.
