Anomaly detection of Machine Learning such as PCA anomaly detection and CNN image classification has been focused on cross-sectional data. In this paper, two approaches has been suggested to apply ML techniques for identifying the failure time of big time series data. PCA anomaly detection to identify time rows as normal or abnormal was suggested by converting subjects identification problem to time domain. CNN image classification was suggested to identify the failure time by re-structuring of time series data, which computed the correlation matrix of one minute data and converted to tiff image format. Also, LASSO, one of feature selection methods, was applied to select the most affecting variables which could identify the failure status. For the empirical study, time series data was collected in seconds from a power generator of 214 components for 25 minutes including 20 minutes before the failure time. The failure time was predicted and detected 9 minutes 17 seconds before the failure time by PCA anomaly detection, but was not detected by the combination of LASSO and PCA because the target variable was binary variable which was assigned on the base of the failure time. CNN image classification with the train data of 10 normal status image and 5 failure status images detected just one minute before.

Source localization in three-dimensional (3-D) wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is becoming a major research focus. Due to the complicated air-ground environments in 3-D positioning, many of the traditional localization methods, such as received signal strength (RSS) may have relatively poor accuracy performance. Benefit from prior learning mechanisms, fingerprinting-based localization methods are less sensitive to complex conditions and can provide relatively accurate localization performance. However, fingerprinting-based methods require training data at each grid point for constructing the fingerprint database, the overhead of which is very high, particularly for 3-D localization. Also, some of measured data may be unavailable due to the interference of a complicated environment. In this paper, we propose an efficient kernel based 3-D localization algorithm via tensor completion. We first exploit the spatial correlation of the RSS data and demonstrate the low rank property of the RSS data matrix. Based on this, a new training scheme is proposed that uses tensor completion to recover the missing data of the fingerprint database. Finally, we propose a kernel based learning technique in the matching phase to improve the sensitivity and accuracy in the final source position estimation. Simulation results show that our new method can effectively eliminate the impairment caused by incomplete sensing data to improve the localization performance.

Maritime monitoring requirements have been beyond human operators capabilities due to the broadness of the coverage area and the variety of monitoring activities, e.g. illegal migration, or security threats by foreign warships. Abnormal vessel movement can be defined as an unreasonable movement deviation from the usual trajectory, speed, or other traffic parameters. Detection of the abnormal vessel movement requires the operators not only to pay short-term attention but also to have long-term trajectory trace ability. Recent advances in deep learning have shown the potential of deep learning techniques to discover hidden and more complex relations that often lie in low dimensional latent spaces. In this paper, we propose a deep autoencoder-based clustering model for automatic detection of vessel movement anomaly to assist monitoring operators to take actions on the vessel for more investigation. We first generate gridded trajectory images by mapping the raw vessel trajectories into two dimensional matrix. Based on the gridded image input, we test the proposed model along with the other deep autoencoder-based models for the abnormal trajectory data generated through rotation and speed variation from normal trajectories. We show that the proposed model improves detection accuracy for the generated abnormal trajectories compared to the other models.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the performance of a deep learning system for permanent tooth germ detection on pediatric panoramic radiographs. Materials and Methods: In total, 4518 anonymized panoramic radiographs of children between 5 and 13 years of age were collected. YOLOv4, a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based object detection model, was used to automatically detect permanent tooth germs. Panoramic images of children processed in LabelImg were trained and tested in the YOLOv4 algorithm. True-positive, false-positive, and false-negative rates were calculated. A confusion matrix was used to evaluate the performance of the model. Results: The YOLOv4 model, which detected permanent tooth germs on pediatric panoramic radiographs, provided an average precision value of 94.16% and an F1 value of 0.90, indicating a high level of significance. The average YOLOv4 inference time was 90 ms. Conclusion: The detection of permanent tooth germs on pediatric panoramic X-rays using a deep learning-based approach may facilitate the early diagnosis of tooth deficiency or supernumerary teeth and help dental practitioners find more accurate treatment options while saving time and effort

Digital healthcare combined with telemedicine services in the form of convergence with digital technology and AI is developing rapidly. Digital healthcare research is being conducted on many conditions including shock. However, the causes of shock are diverse, and the treatment is very complicated, requiring a high level of medical knowledge. In this paper, we propose a shock detection method based on the correlation between shock and data extracted from hemodynamic monitoring equipment. From the various parameters expressed by this equipment, four parameters closely related to patient shock were used as the input data for a machine learning model in order to detect the shock. Using the four parameters as input data, that is, feature values, a random forest-based ensemble machine learning model was constructed. The value of the mean arterial pressure was used as the correct answer value, the so called label value, to detect the patient's shock state. The performance was then compared with the decision tree and logistic regression model using a confusion matrix. The average accuracy of the random forest model was 92.80%, which shows superior performance compared to other models. We look forward to our work playing a role in helping medical staff by making recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of complex and difficult cases of shock.

This paper presents a pre-processing method to facilitate the container's BIC-code recognition. We propose a network that can find ROI(Region Of Interests) containing a BIC-code region and estimate a homography matrix for warping. Taking the structure of STN(Spatial Transformer Networks), the proposed network consists of next 3 steps, ROI detection, homography matrix estimation, and warping using the homography estimated in the previous step. It contributes to improving the accuracy of BIC-code recognition by estimating ROI and matrix using the proposed network and correcting perspective distortion of ROI using the estimated matrix. For performance evaluation, five evaluators evaluated the output image as a perfect score of 5 and received an average of 4.25 points, and when visually checked, 224 out of 312 photos are accurately and perfectly corrected, containing ROI.
The purposes of this study were to identify factors affecting the quality of universities' e-learning contents from the perspectives of learners and to find out specific solutions for improving them. To achieve these goals, research questions were established as follows: 1) What factors were influencing the quality of universities' e-learning contents, and how were learners perceived about each factor(by its importance and satisfaction)? 2) Were there any differences on the learners' perceptions about each factor(by its importance and satisfaction)? 3) What were any specific ways to enhance the quality of universities' e-learning contents? The participants were of 543 university students who took at least one e-learning course and were living in the metropolitan areas(Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi). The survey questionnaire was consisted of 38 items developed through the literature review. To analyze the data collected, factor analysis and paired-sample t-test were conducted. The results were as follows: Five identified factors influencing the quality of universities' e-learning contents from the perspectives of learners were instructional strategies, learning contents, usability, evaluation/feedback, and interface design, and all identified factors were statistically significant differences among the learners' perceptions of its importance and satisfaction. The analysis results of importance-satisfaction matrix by each factor showed that 1) learning contents was the factor that current status should be at least continuously maintained, 2) usability, instructional strategies, and evaluation/feedback were the factors that learners' satisfactions still need to be increased although those importances were not relatively high, and 3) interface factor was important, while learners' satisfaction toward it was not much high so that solutions to increase the satisfaction need to be immediately considered. Based on the results, several suggestions to enhance universities' e-learning contents from the learners' perspectives were also recommended.

This study tried to propose an optimal instruction-learning model for the cyber home learning system2.0 through grounded theory. In-depth interviews were conducted to investigate causes of underachievement and the causes were categorized according to common concepts. A total of 25 causes of underachievement could be grouped into four categories and eight sub-categories, as a result. Underachievers, then, participated in the lessons utilizing the cyber home learning system2.0 and their cognitive change process about learning was analyzed from reflectional journals and in-depth interviews with a teacher. It was found that underachievers were participated in learning by passing through 5 processes; adaptation to the cyber home learning system2.0, basic knowledge learning, task implementing, rounds of group discussions, feedbacks and evaluation. Based on analysis of these five processes, this study proposed a conditional matrix for the cyber home learning system 2.0 as the most personalized model for underachieving students.

In this paper, a new modeling method of a magnetic levitation(Maglev) system using extreme learning machine(ELM) is proposed. The linearized methods using Taylor Series expansion has been used for modeling of a Maglev system. However, the numerical method has some drawbacks when dealing with the components with high nonlinearity of a Maglev system. To overcome this problem, we propose a new modeling method of the Maglev system with electro magnetic suspension, which is based on ELM with fast learning time than conventional neural networks. In the proposed method, the initial input weights and hidden biases of the method are usually randomly chosen, and the output weights are analytically determined by using Moore-Penrose generalized inverse. matrix Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve better performance for modeling of Maglev system than the previous numerical method.
Export containers in a container terminal are usually classified into a few weight groups and those belonging to the same group are placed together on a same stack. The reason for this stacking by weight groups is that it becomes easy to have the heavier containers be loaded onto a ship before the lighter ones, which is important for the balancing of the ship. However, since the weight information available at the time of container arrival is only an estimate, those belonging to different weight groups are often stored together on a same stack. This becomes the cause of extra moves, or rehandlings, of containers at the time of loading to fetch out the heavier containers placed under the lighter ones. In this paper, we use machine learning techniques to derive a classifier that can classify the containers into the weight groups with improved accuracy. We also show that a more useful classifier can be derived by applying a cost-sensitive learning technique, for which we introduce a scheme of searching for a good cost matrix. Simulation experiments have shown that our proposed method can reduce about 5$\sim$7% of rehandlings when compared to the traditional weight grouping method.
