The purpose of this paper is to show how much the subjects based on the mathematics and statistics contribute to the curriculum and the education of the students majoring in engineer of the Computer-Software department, and to recognize the roles of mathematics and statistics in the Computer-Software department. In order to advance the world-class Computer-Software department, it is necessary for Math/Stat to ensure the role as a basis for the Computer-Software majors as well as to extend its role to relate the core studies of the Computer-Software majors. Consequently, the recognition of Math/Stat in the Computer-Software major will enable to establish the short or/and long-tern plan for student education.
This research is a laboratory study for the improvement of differential equation class, and the aim of this study is to propose the possibilities of applicable writing activities for differential equation courses in university. We analyzed how the writing activities can affect the improvement of abilities of the students' affective domain and cognitive domain. Although the results from the two areas did not show a big numerical improvements it proved that the writing activities have positive effects, especially for the group of lower level students. The students felt interested and became more confident with differential equation studies. Their understanding of the study has been increased further by acquiring new learning methods, including writing activities. Therefore, we conclude that teaching and learning method designed systematically to adopt writing activities improve the students' learning attitudes and achievements.
The computer programming is a useful tool to cultivate the logical thinking and encourage the problem solving competence. With the purpose of specifying the computer programming, this study mainly concerns with what the computer programming is in the Math/Stat education, and the role of the computer programming when it regards the problem solving procedure. This provides the possibility of Math/Stat major to be specified with the connection of IT related courses, and eventually the specified Math/Stat major enables more qualified graduates to be educated.

This study deals with the content that was developed by the authors and the utilization of the 'Interactive Engineering Math Laboratory (IEmath Lab).' IEmath Lab provides online review lectures as well as a wide range of examples and exercises from the curriculum of engineering mathematics courses. The lectures come with pre-coded Python-based SageMath cells through which students can run and modify the code directly from this free laboratory. IEmath Lab is accessible via mobile devices so that the students can use it anywhere, anytime for maximum learning effectiveness and achievement. IEmath Lab would be an ideal tool for the effective learning and teaching of engineering mathematics, which combines theory and practice.
In this study we analyzed the teaching units for the area of geometrical figures by the same method in the previous research of Kang, Wan and Kim, Nam Jun in 2010, where they extracted the teaching units based on the mathematics curriculum based on the theory of Wittmann (1984). Teaching units are a systematic organization of the essential contents for mathematics education according to 4 elements, objectives, data, functions, and backgrounds. In this study, the features and titles of the teaching units, extracted from the area of geometrical figures in revised mathematics curriculums in 2007, are analyzed and categorized as accepting of concept type, application of concept type, and acquiring of relation type. Their meanings for education are investigated, in addition, the way of their practical application to research of education for the area of geometrical figures. The teaching units are a model consistently compensated and evolved rather than fixed. It will be an important material for establishing new educational courses if the teaching units are more systematically studied by mathematics researchers and teachers in educational fields.
In this study, we investigated a good way for teacher professional development. Based on this way, we designed teacher training program. We carried out teacher training program for 50 secondary school mathematics teachers in July 2014. In this teacher training courses, teachers conducted recording mathematics teaching-learning processes by dialogue between teacher and student according to Socratic method. We also shared the practices of teacher educators, teachers and colleagues. In this teacher training, we tried to cultivate teachers' abilities needed to a good mathematics instruction. And we aimed to equip the attitude that guided reflection on their mathematics class. Through the teacher training, teachers recognized the need to study on the thinking of students and take into account students' expected reaction on the part of learners. Also they developed an attitude as reflective practitioners and recognized the need of teacher learning communities for their professional development.
This research analyzes the elementary school mathematics curriculum in Korea in accordance with the teaching units devised by the German mathematics pedagogue, Wittmann(1984). Teaching units, a systematic teaching content organized according to the 4 elements of objectives, data, functions, and backgrounds, helps educators and professors plot for the systematic organization and structural understanding of the materials necessary in teaching. This research presents the extracting process of teaching units step by step based on the 2007 revised mathematics curriculum and also demonstrates the new alternative method to analyze and review the entire education courses through it. Teaching units is not immutable, but rather pursuing and developing a model that consistently through the constant complementary efforts by the research experts. On that account, many researchers and field professors continuously devote their efforts to develop and innovate it so that it can be practically used as an essential tool to establish a new mathematics curriculum.
This research is that concern in mathematics education of Technical high school Department of Electricity in the 7th educational curriculum. Indicated problem of mathematics education of Technical high school Department of Electricity at 7th educational curriculum as that compare mathematics subject contents with difference of Technical high school mathematics education in the 6th and the 7th educational curriculum. And examine major subject contents, analyzed contents of mathematics that must supplement and mathematics which use in major subject. Established contents of electricity mathematics education that need to major learning to satisfy target of technical high school technical education that is presented in the 7th training courses with this analysis
The educational environment in the digital age of the 21st century definitely affects teaching and learning methods to be changed. In addition, the perceptions and methods of mathematics education in the digital age have also been changing. This study proposes a university mathematics education model suitable for the digital age, which makes full use of the internet/digital environment and leads the students to participate in the learning processes. We apply the proposed model to Linear Algebra course, and present a concrete method of teaching and learning model including evaluation. This will be the first study on how to organize and operate digital courses in Korea in accordance with the mathematics education in the digital era which is rapidly spreading around the world.
Nowadays the education of Mathematics is more important than any other courses in the school. But the most students have felt the difficulty and uncomfortableness in studying Mathematics, especially the geometry course. Moreover teachers also consider that the teaching of geometry is the hardest part of Mathematics. Therefore we suggest an effective method of teaching the geometry course for the middle school students. We provide the activity papers which contain mathematics problems based on the practical life of students. And we analyze the effects of the activity papers using the questionnaire.
