The purpose of this study is to estimate teachers'conceptions of mathematics through the conception on compositions of mathematical knowledge, the conception on structure of mathematical knowledge, the conception on status of mathematical knowledge, the conception on mathematical activity, and the conception of mathematics learning. This study reached the following conclusions: Most of teachers has more internal viewpoint than external viewpoint on the compositions, structures and status of mathematical knowledge, mathematical activity and mathematics learning.
This paper observed the effect of CAS calculator usage while studying algebra on the achievement of low-achievement students. Participants were composed of 70 low-achievement tenth grade students from a high school located in a metropolitan city. That had never used a mathematics educational calculator before. Target participants were divided into two groups: an experiment group that studied activity papers with the aid of a CAS calculator, and a control group that studied the same activity papers using only paper-and-pencil. The content of the activity papers for the two groups was the same, but the structure differed. Content consisted of numbers and operations, equations and inequalities(character and expressions), and functions. Students in the experiment group exhibited matacognition learning using a CAS calculator. The two groups completed mathematics achievement tests both before and after the activity papers. Therefore, ANCOVA analysis results showed that compared to the pretest, results of the experiment group improved considerably more than the control group.
Seven flavonoid compounds, kaempferol (1), quercetin (2), quercetin-3-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (3), kaempferol-3-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (4), kaempferol-3-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnoside (5), quercetin-3-O-sophoroside (6) and quercetin-3-O-rutinoside (7), were isolated from the methanolic extract of leaves of Kalanchoe prolifera. Compounds 1-7 were isolated for first time from this plant. These compounds were evaluated their cytotoxic activity against P-388 murine leukimia cells in vitro. Among those compounds kaempferol (1) and quercetin (2) showed strongest cytotoxic activity with $IC_{50}$ values of $4.45{\pm}0.05$ and $6.28{\pm}0.02{\mu}g/mL$, respectively.
The education of mathematics is comprised of formal thoughts so students lose interest and they don't have a chance to have a liberal mind. To solve this problem, recently, the flow of mathematic education is changing from formal mathematics to experimental mathematics, which focuses on student's activity and experience. Experimental mathematics can improve student's interest and participation. This study is about teaching methods of trigonometric functions through experimental mathematics measuring height and width of buildings. For measuring height of buildings we use clinometer and for measuring width of buildings we developed a mathematical tool with which we can measure angle for width of buildings. Through this activity, students obtained an interest in mathematics and they gained a positive attitude for the lesson. If we use this experimental mathematics method in high school, it's possible to reduce fears of mathematics and to increase an interest for mathematics.

The purpose of this study is to find out the teacher's awareness and needs for early childhood mathematics education and outdoor movement activities. The study participants were eight kindergarten teachers located in Korea. in-depth interviews were conducted with teachers on 2014.04. ~ 2014.07. Interviews were held twice each, semi-structured with the order and content of the questions adjusted. As a result of analyzing and categorizing the collected data, the results were 'Early teacher's awareness of mathematics education', 'Early teacher's awareness of outdoor movement activities', and 'Educational teacher's awareness of mathematics activities linked to outdoor movement activities'. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the model of early childhood teacher for mathematics education and outdoor movement should be presented. Second, there is a need for ways to improve the teacher's confidence in mathematics education and outdoor movement.
In 2006 with the revised national curriculum, Elementary mathematics teaching and learning methods are presented in the following ways. Learners explore the way through the operational activities of the teachers and students with learning and learners' active learning activities, etc., and an active learning based on the principle of attention to learning how to maximize the effectiveness are required. In this study, from first grade through sixth grade elementary school mathematics textbooks for all learning activities presented in 10 different types were investigated This result of 5 contents area of number and operation, geometry, probability and statistics, measurement and patterns and problem solving and divided into low, middle, and hight three were intentional. In addition, teachers are looking forward to this result was compared with the type of activity.
Since the greater part of mathematical concepts have been developed in the direction of “from the concrete and realistic aspects to the abstract level”, children should be secured to learn mathematics genetically with various manipulative materials. The aim of this study is to instigate the active use of geoboards in mathematics classroom. To achieve this arm, we first embodied the several significances on the use of geoboards in mathematics instruction. And we then performed an instruction that children discover and justify the formula related to the area of trapezoid by exploring with geoboards, and analyzed the instructional episode to support our assertion about some secure merit accompanied by using geoboards. From this study, we obtained the conclusion that geoboard activity contains many significances such as children can explore congruence, symmetry, similarity, fundamental properties of figures, and pattern. Futhermore, geoboard activity enable children to transform a figure into other equivalently, develop spatial sense, have basic experiences for coordinate geometry, build a concrete model to explain abstract ideas, and foster the ability of problem solving and mathematical thinking.
Nowadays the education of Mathematics is more important than any other courses in the school. But the most students have felt the difficulty and uncomfortableness in studying Mathematics, especially the geometry course. Moreover teachers also consider that the teaching of geometry is the hardest part of Mathematics. Therefore we suggest an effective method of teaching the geometry course for the middle school students. We provide the activity papers which contain mathematics problems based on the practical life of students. And we analyze the effects of the activity papers using the questionnaire.

The purpose of this research is to analyze cognitive demands, answer types, and storytelling types on the basis of mathematical tasks in five different mathematics textbooks based on 2009 revised curriculum in order to suggest directions for the development and use of storytelling mathematics textbooks in school. Results show that first, PNC (Procedures without Connections) task was the largest category in cognitive demands of all mathematical tasks, Low-Level task was larger than others in cognitive demands of mathematical content tasks, and High-Level task was larger than others in cognitive demands of mathematical activity tasks. Second, a short-answer type was the largest category in answer types of all mathematical tasks, the majority of mathematical content tasks were a short-answer type, and the majority of mathematical activity tasks were both short-answer and explanation-answer types. Finally, storytelling connected to real-life was the largest category in storytelling types, and the number of mathematical activity tasks was less than that of mathematical content tasks. However, in the tasks reflected on storytelling, the percentage of mathematical activity tasks was higher than that of mathematical content tasks. Based on the results, while developing storytelling mathematics textbooks and using storytelling textbooks in school, it suggests to consider the need for balance and diversity in cognitive demands, answer types, and storytelling types according to mathematical tasks.
According to the characteristics of elementary school students in favor of playing games, and to their high energy levels and physical growth states, it is fair to say that students can learn mathematics through 'game playing activities.' These activities are considered to intrigue their interest in class and make them feel less stress from the burden of studying mathematics. Mr. Skemp, who had conducted research on 'game activity' with experimental studies relating to elementary mathematics, recommends that math teachers try to give as many activity-oriented classes as possible to students. The method of 'game activity' by Skemp's operation deals with the whole range of mathematical themes. It is believed by other math teachers that this is not a way to substitute free time or just to have fun in class, but an intentionally well-organized way of learning an entire mathematical course during elementary school. In this research, 5th and 6th grade students needing extra classes after school had been exposed to 'ame activity' by Skemp's operation. As a result, we can figure out its influence on their understanding of arithmetic ability, and on the cognitive definition territory in their minds.
