  • In this paper I have tried to find the points which current Math teachers should reconsider in their classes and suggested how to improve the teaching methods in the class. For these answers, I analysed Teaching plans of 30 Math teachers in K province and observed their model classes. The conclusions acquired by these observations are the followings. First, Math teachers should have a great deal of enthusiasm in their classes. Second, Math teachers must understand the curriculum. Third, Math teachers have to understand their students. Fourth, Math teachers should endeavor with other teachers through the workshop. Fifth, Math teachers should be professional and open-minded to make their classes public anytime.

  • Further education for teachers is required for reforms of elementary education curricula and their career development. Principles of relevance, selectivity and hierarchy should be followed in the construction of further education curricula system for math teachers of senior high school. The following curricula should be included in the system: A. moral elevation and idea renewal curricula; B. theoretic curricula on math education; C. curricula on math education design; D. curricula on math education research; E. curricula on modern educational technology; F. curricula on knowledge renewal and extension.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility of Flipped Learning teaching and learning methods in pre-math teachers' education through investigation of pre-math teachers' awareness about the method. To achieve the goal, we implemented Flipped Learning model that was composed of three steps in mathematics education class of 30 pre-math teachers and then we investigated their awareness about the model and process. Pre-math teachers' awareness were positive about the model and process of Flipped Learning, but some matters were suggested about learning environment. The results of this study showed the feasibility of Flipped Learning in pre-math teachers' education.

A study on the stages of concern, level of use, innovation configurations and the analysis of their relationship to each other shown by elementary teachers regarding storytelling-based math education based on CBAM (CBAM(Concerns-Based Adoption Model)에 기초한 스토리텔링 수학교육에 대한 초등교사의 관심도, 실행 수준, 실행 형태 및 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to discover and analyze the stages of concern, level of use, innovation configurations and the analysis of their relationship to each other of storytelling-based math education among elementary teachers based on the concerns-based adoption model (CBAM). And then the researcher derives support strategies for the education by empirically examining at which levels and how actual elementary teachers perceive storytelling-based math education and also how they adopt it. In addition, the researcher lays the purpose of this study on seeking proper supporting strategies for helping elementary teachers implement storytelling-based math education and providing basic material for teaching activities by examining the correlation between stages of concern, levels of use and the innovation configuration, and grasping the relation between teachers concern and their educational practice regarding storytelling-based math education.

  • In this paper, we studied into a qualitative research to see mathematical understanding of preschool and kindergarten's teachers such as feeling attitude, parents' concern, difficulty of math teaching in kindergarten field, teacher's role, type of feed back, beauty of math, relationship of real life, and self philosophy of math education. We selected 10 teachers whose career was 7~10 years. Because this research way is qualitative, we can new aspect that teacher want to break their ignorance for math. Moreover, they would like to learn about math practicality, application, and beauty from art in professional training. Therefore we assert that fusion math lecture would support in the professional training for teacher, preschool or kindergarten's president training, and remuneration training.

  • Math classes has been regarded as an independent area of a teacher and his/her students of a particular class. In Recent discussions about the professional development of teachers, for the improvement of practices, the point of view of that the community of teachers must work together is spreading. What are the considerations in organization and operation of learning communities for professional development of teachers? In this study, we analyzed the case of the learning community of math teachers in a Science Academy for the purpose of improving math classes to promote the participation of learners. Research results show that teachers share the principles and goals of mathematics teaching through the learning community. Also, through participation in learning communities, the members were practicing the lessons improved by reflection on the lessons of his/her and their colleagues. These results provide implication that it is important to provide opportunities for objectifying his/her classes through the learning community for a substantial improvement in math classes.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze responses of children and teachers in elementary school to math texts applying storytelling in use, and propose some efficient methods for teaching the noumenon of math concept via storytelling math according to analyzed results. For this purpose, we choose 2nd grade children and teachers in J Province for the effects of the storytelling questionnaire study. The results of the survey lead that most children add zest to the math and most teachers are positive to the storytelling math, however, some of low-level and high-level math children lose their interest in math, and some teachers need some systematic devices to help them understand sufficiently and can teach the storytelling math meaningfully. Therefore, there seems to be needed a program that help children develop the achievement of math and teachers teach the storytelling math expertly.

  • This study involved an investigation of prospective elementary teachers' preconceptions and experiences of diagrams and their ability to draw diagrams in solving math word problems. A questionnaire and two math word problems were administered to prospective elementary teachers who began to taking an introductory mathematics education course. The results from the analysis of their responses to the questionnaire items indicate that prospective elementary teachers appreciate the value of diagrams as tools for problem solving and communication. In addition, prospective elementary teachers have the will not only to teach their future students how to use diagrams but also to encourage them to draw diagrams in solving math word problems. However, the results also indicates that prospective elementary teachers neither use diagrams spontaneously in their math problem solving activities nor have confidence in drawing useful diagrams. Prospective elementary teachers also manifested low scores on the questionnaire items asking whether they were taught how to draw useful diagrams or encouraged by their teachers to use diagrams in their previous learning experiences. The results from the analysis of the diagrams that prospective elementary teachers drew in solving math word problems showed that most of them had difficulty drawing diagrams that represent their reasoning and solving process.

  • In teaching statistics in the secondary school, most math teachers do it and students enjoy it well before 11th grade. But, both of teachers and students feel statistics hard at 11th grade, which has been contained permutations, combinations, random variables, probability distributions, hypotheses and tests for normal distribution. In this study, we explore the efficient teaching methods of statistics for math teachers and also find many students enjoying it.
