  • During sailing by wind-driven thrust on the sail, a catamaran sailing yacht generates leeway and heeling. For predicting sail force, a model test was carried out according to running attitude. Through the model test, drag and side force of the real ship was predicted. A purpose of this study is to find sail force to C.E from changed attitude during running direction. By balance of hull and sail, a heeling force of designed sail is predicted. Also through heeling force and driving force, total sail force and direction from C.E are considered with changed mast including leeway and heeling.

  • In order to improve the accessibility to the island through marine leisure ships, it is necessary to evaluate objective business feasibility of the ship's operation. In this study, costs and income were estimated based on the operating expenses and freight standards of similar marine leisure ships in operation, and based on this, the feasibility of the project was empirically analyzed through B/C analysis, NPV, and IRR. In addition, sensitivity analysis was performed for various variables to understand the requirements for securing minimum economic feasibility. As a result of the study, in case of new building ship, the B/C ratio was estimated to be 1.042, NPV was estimated to be KRW 1.93 billion, and IRR was estimated to be 2.1% which means that profitability was secured.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the current trends of composite applications in the marine and leisure fields and to study the development of 33ft class America's cup training CFRP sailing yacht. In the field of marine and leisure, composite materials have been just used to marine and leisure structures, recently. Especially, since the America's cup of sailing yacht racing has required the light weight and high mechanical performance to make a high speed, CFRP have been recognized as the critical material to construct the racing yacht structures. To establish the process of CFRP racing yacht construction, the design optimizations and production methods of carbon mast and CFRP yacht hull were discussed in this paper. Finally, the constructed CFRP sailing yacht exhibited high performance as the racing yacht through the sailing test.

  • Recently, the interest in marine leisure activities has been growing rapidly with the work-life balance trend. In response to this demand, the Korean government is supporting fostering and revitalizing the relevant industries and facilities. In particular, a marina has been making efforts to change itself into a resort with multiple amenities instead of a simple mooring facility. However, the facilities in a marina for the transport of marine leisure equipment mostly consist of cranes and boat-lifts using ropes, which can result in incidents such as damage and accidents during lifting or movement. This paper proposes the equipment and support system for the safe transportation of marine leisure ships. Aluminum transport equipment was designed by performing a structural analysis to achieve a lighter weight than the existing steel products. In addition, a safety support system with alarms for tilting or obstacles and a slope monitoring system was developed to enhance the safety during operation and transportation. The safety support system developed in this study was implemented and installed in the transport system, and verified through commissioning on land.

  • This study developed a smartwatch and a wind speed system in accordance with the necessity of a device that provides the information required in marine leisure. Based on a marine leisure smartwatch with a multi-sensor, a gyro box, and a wind speed system, external data such as GPS, motion, humidity, temperature, air pressure, and heart rate can be collected. In addition, the collected external environment data can be managed through an application on a smartphone, which is an Android-based mobile device. The developed smartwatch and wind speed system are expected to contribute to increasing accessibility and revitalization of the marine leisure industry. In addition, in terms of safety and education, the need for a device that provides marine information is large, so it is expected to increase the possibility of entering the high value-added market and improve the product localization rate.

  • This study was conducted to evaluating the willingness to pay for marine leisure ships through a contingent valuation method that can estimate the value of non-market economy. The questionnaire adopted a double-bound dichotomous choice Model and the variables for evaluating the amount of willingness to pay consisted of demographic variables and respondent behavior variables, and related information verified through previous studies. As a result of collecting and analyzing a total of 309 questionnaires, the amount of willingness to pay for marine leisure ships was estimated to be 25,510 won. In addition, significant variables affecting the amount of willingness to pay were the experience of visiting the island, satisfaction with the introduction of new maritime transportation, and intention to revisit the island. Through this study, it can be used as a basis for evaluating the economic value of new maritime transportation by estimating the willingness to pay for marine leisure ships using the contingent valuation method.

  • For the growth of the marine leisure industry, it is necessary to estimate economic value to review appropriate profitability in advance for the opening of new routes for marine leisure ships. This study aims to analyze the willingness to pay for new marine leisure ships for users of Gyeonggi sea and estimate the economic value. To this end, the amount of willingness to pay was estimated using the conditional value measurement method, and significant factors affecting the payment of usage fees were analyzed. As a result of the study, the average willingness to pay was estimated at KRW 25,510, and it was found that the factors such as "island visit experience" and "satisfaction with means of transportation" had a significant effect on the willingness to pay.
