  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of elementary school student's perceived father's trait on self-regulating skills and peer relationship skills as well as the influence of father's trait according to gender of children on self-regulation skills and peer relationship skills. The summary of main results of this is as follows: It can be seen that by diminishing time-bomb and fatherless and enhancing compassionate mentor among sub-factors of father's trait as perceived by children, self-regulation skills and peer relationship skills of children could be improved. And it was understood that in the influence of father's trait as perceived by children on self-regulation skills and peer relationship skills, there is a need to consider gender difference of male and female children.

  • The purpose of the study is to review research in concept, measurement, effect, and influence factor of teacher efficacy. Through the review of previous research, the study shows that the concept of teacher efficacy is likely to be situation-specific rather than teacher characteristic. And the study represents that the measurement of teacher efficacy is related to the development of measurement instrument and the extraction of construct. The effect of teacher efficacy concerns the relationship between teacher efficacy and the student's academic achievement and affective traits such as motivation, interests, and attitude, and the relationship between teacher efficacy and teacher. And the influence factor of teacher efficacy concerns the influence of job environment related to teacher. The four things mentioned above are discussed in detail based on the previous research.

The data were collected from 236 elementary school children. The results of this study were as follows; First, the classroom climate that influence onlooker type was personal development dimension and among of the all, competition had important positive effect on onlooker type. Second, the classroom climate that influence onlooker type was interpersonal relation dimension and among of the all, the democratic climate had important negative effect on onlooker type. Third, the democratic classroom climate influenced negative effect on self-defense and indifference and positive effect on mutual fault among the onlooker types.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of parent and peer attachment on school adjustment of 5th and 6th graders. In order to achieve this research purpose, following research questions were established. First, does attachment to parents influence on school adjustment of 5th and 6th graders? Second, does attachment to peers influence on school adjustment of 5th and 6th graders? Third, what are relative influences of parent and peer attachment on school adjustment of 5th and 6th graders? Three hundred eighty nine 5th and 6th graders in Busan participated in this study and completed Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment and School Adjustment Scale. Collected data were analyzed using Two-way ANOVA and ${\eta}^2$. The major findings of this study were that parent attachment and peer attachment would significantly influence on school adjustment of 5th and 6th graders; Relative influence of Parent attachment and peer attachment would differ depending upon sub-factors of school adjustment. These results were discussed in terms of theoretical and practical implications. Finally, the limitations of this study were commented and suggestions for future research were made.

  • The pH of water is one of the main environmental factors exerting selective pressure on marine and freshwater organisms. Here, we focus on the influence of pH on an organism's ability to maintain homeostasis and investigate the effects of acidification on immunity-related genes and osmotic pressure during early development of the olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus. The aim of our study was to determine the influence of various pH levels on the fertilized eggs and larvae of P. olivaceus. Gametes of P. olivaceus were artificially introduced and the resulting fertilized eggs were incubated at pH 4.0 (low), 6.0, and 8.0 (equivalent to natural sea water; control). We found that all eggs sank from the water column at pH 4.0. After 38 h, these eggs showed slow development. Hatching occurred more slowly at pH 4.0 and 6.0 and did not occur at all at pH 4.0. Result of gene expression, caspase and galectin-1 were expressed from the blastula to pre-hatch stages, with the exception of the two-cell stage. HSP 70 was also steadily expressed at all pH levels over the five days. The osmolality of fertilized eggs differed marginally at each stage and across pH levels. So, this results demonstrates that low pH level is detrimental to P. olivaceus fertilized eggs.

  • In this study, the Atterberg limit and grain-size analysis were carried for the purpose of investigating the influence on drying and organic matter of Ulsan marine deposited clay. The results revealed that Atterberg limit was decreased and grain-size distribution was variable on drying. The presence of organic matter also influenced on the physical properties of the soils. The physical properties of marine deposited clay were variable on drying, so that we recommended grain-size analysis and Atterberg limit test were performed under the wet condition of the soils after sampling.

  • In this study, the effects of inclined shaft angle on the hydro-acoustic performance of cavitating marine propellers are investigated by a numerical method developed before and Brown's empirical formula. The cavitating blades are represented by source and vortex elements. The cavity characteristics of the blades such as cavitation form, cavity volume, cavity length etc., are computed at a given cavitation number and at a set advance coefficient. A lifting surface method is applied for these calculations. The numerical lifting surface method is validated with experimental results of DTMB 4119 model benchmark propeller. After calculation of hydrodynamic characteristics of the cavitating propeller, noise spectrum and overall sound pressure level (OASPL) are computed by Brown's equation. This empirical equation is also validated with another numerical results found in the literature. The effects of inclined shaft angle on thrust coefficient, torque coefficient, efficiency and OASPL values are examined by a parametric study. By modifying the inclination angles of propeller, the thrust, torque, efficiency and OASPL are computed and compared with each other. The influence of the inclined shaft angle on cavity patterns on the blades are also discussed.

  • The authors have developed a calculating method of propeller shaft alignment by the finite element method. The propeller shaft is divided into finite elements which can be treated as uniform section bars. For each element, the nodal point equation is derived from the stiffness matrix, the external force vector and the section force vector. Then the overall nodal point equation is derived from the element nodal point equation. The deflection, offset, bending moment and shearing force of each nodal point are calculated from the overall nodal point equation by the digital computer. Reactions and deflections of supporting points of straight shaft are calculated and also the reaction influence number is derived. With the reaction influence number the optimum alignment condition that satisfies all conditions is calculated by the simplex method of linear programming. All results of calculation are compared with those of Det norske Veritas, which has developed a computor program based on the three-moment theorem of the strength of materials. The authors finite element method has shown good results and will be used effectively to design the propeller shaft alignment.
