  • Cultural diversity is a highly important issue in nursing education and nursing practice today. This study is a philosophical approach to the power relationship between a health care provider and a care recipient. The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationships between nurses and ethnic minority patients based on the discussions of some Foucauldian concepts that are related to cultural diversity. Based on the analysis, this study provides some suggestions for cultural competency in nursing practice.

  • Many companies consider environment management system as the main back-bone system. Also, risk management is considered as hot issue in world wide leading companies. In view of efficiency , it is necessary to combine or integrate the environment management system and the risk management system. In this paper, we aim to propose an approach to integrate the environment management system(ISO 14001) and the risk management system (JIS Q 2001).

  • Fuel flexibility remains a critical issue related the development of low emission lean premixed combustion system and the combustion adjustment technique. To cover the this work scope with our own technology, KEPCO had focused on operational technology related to GT combustion control. The main purpose of this paper is summary of the research works on fuel flexibility in KRPCO Research Institute recently. Furthermore, the specifications of test facility and research work in the future in KEPRI were also explained briefly for expected collaborative research team in Korea.

  • This article is concerned with the importance of organisation management and its characteristics in business performance in SMEs, and tested by four main aspects: managerial strategies, organisational structure, leader behaviour, and R&D activities. These relationships were tested with questionnaire data from a random sample of 87 firms. Results from simple statistics on each issue showed that SMEs have focused on the corporate growth and management goals, the democratic leadership, decentralisation in organisational structure, and the technology development plans. Results from correlation analyses not only found significant relationships between managerial strategy and R&D activities but also showed differences in R&D activities according to structural status or leadership style, respectively.

  • Human factor represents a very challenging issue to organizations. Human factor is responsible for many cybersecurity incidents by noncompliance with the organization security policies. In this paper we conduct a comprehensive review of the literature to identify strategies to address human factor. Security awareness, training and education program is the main strategy to address human factor. Scholars have consistently argued that importance of security awareness to prevent incidents from human behavior.

  • The output storage capacitor of the PFC converters is commonly designed for the selected hold-up time or the allowed output ripple voltage percentage. Nevertheless, this output capacitor is a main contribution factor to the PFC system stability. Moreover, seeking for a minimum output storage capacitor that assures the PFC desired operation under all condition, and providing the advantage of a small size and low cost is the main interesting target for engineering. Therefore, in this issue the design steps of the PFC converter have been discussed depending on three choices, output ripple, hold-up time, and stability. It is cleared that any design must take the minimum required storage capacitor for stability prospective as step-l in deign, then apply for any other specification like hold-up time or ripple percentage.

  • This research explored contemporary cities and children's lives in picture books by a survey of 71 picture books published and translated into Korean from 1996 to 2006. These books represented city or urban life as their settings with children or personified animals as their main characters. They were classified by four categories. Results were the city space that most frequently appeared in the picture books were streets (73%) including downtown (38%) and back streets (6%). Emotions displayed by children in the city were mainly negative feelings (60%) including fear, worry, sadness, and boredom. The most important issue was alienation (28.5%). Main characters barely managed to cope with life in the city (76%).

  • Human error has brought about accidents more than 50% in system of a large size and complicated expecially in nuclear power plants(NPPs). The technology of Man Machine Interface(MMI) has been changed to the digitalized controls employing computer-based technology. According to this trend. the human factors guidelines are becoming main issue for reliable supports to digitalized information displays. However. the existing human factors guidelines is not enough for advanced information display on NPPs. The purpose of this research is to develop the reliable design and evaluation guidelines for advanced information display in main control room (MCR) of NPPs. In this study. the various general human factors guidelines concerning information display on CRT are integrated on data base management system. unified based on the integration rules. and applied in computer based procedures. The use of the integrated guidelines are expected to evaluate the existing information display on MCR in NPPs from the human factors point of view.

  • Even though algorithms for watermark embedding and extraction step are important issue for digital watermarking, watermark selection and post-processing can give us an opportunity to improve our algorithms and achieve higher performance. For this reason, we summarized the possibilities of improvements for digital watermarking by referring to the watermark merging techniques rather than embedding and extraction algorithms in this paper. We chose Cox's function as main embedding and extraction algorithm, and multiple barcode watermarks as a watermark. Each bit of the multiple copies of barcode watermark was embedded into a gray-scale image with Cox's embedding function. After extracting the numbers of watermark, we applied the watermark merging techniques; including the simple merging, N-step iterated merging, recover merging and combination of iterated-recover merging. Main consequence of our paper was the fact of finding out how multiple barcode watermarks and merging techniques can give us opportunities to improve the performance of algorithm.
