  • Bee venom (Apis mellifera) phospholipase $A_2$ solubilized in reversed micelles containing small amount of water stabilized by surfactant could catalyze the hydrolysis of dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC). A sensitive and simple high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) methodology of phospholipase $A_2$ assay for the hydrolysis of DPPC was developed. Kinetic analysis of the phospholipase $A_2$-catalyzed reaction was found to be possible in reversed micelles. Among the surfactants and organic solvents tested, aerosol-OT and isooctane were most effective for the hydrolysis of DPPC in reversed micelles. Optimal temperature, optimal pH, $K_{m,app.},\;V_{max.,app.}$ and activation energy were determined to be $35{\sim}40^{\circ}C$, 7.0, 8.73 mM, 2.83 units/㎎ protein and 12.31 kcal/mole, respectively. The hydrolysis activity was dependent on water content and maximum activity was obtained at R value (=[water]/[aerosol-OT]) of 10.0.

  • The formation of ${\beta}$-amyloid peptide ($A{\beta}$) is initiated from cleavage of amyloid precursor protein (APP) by a family of protease, ${\alpha}$-, ${\beta}$-, and ${\gamma}$-secretase. Sub W, a substrate peptide, consists of 10 amino acids, which are adjacent to the ${\beta}$-cleavage site of wild-type APP, and Sub M is Swedish mutant with double mutations on the left side of the ${\beta}$-cleavage site of APP. Sub W is a normal product of the metabolism of APP in the secretary pathway. Sub M is known to increase the efficiency of ${\beta}$-secretase activity, resulting in a more specific binding model compared to Sub W. Three-dimensional structures of Sub W and Sub M were studied by CD and NMR spectroscopy in water solution. On the basis of these structures, interaction models of ${\beta}$-secretase and substrate peptides were determined by molecular dynamics simulation. Four hydrogen bonds and one water-mediated interaction were formed in the docking models. In particular, the hydrogen bonding network of Sub M-BACE formed spread over the broad region of the active site of ${\beta}$-secretase (P5-P3'), and the side chain of P2- Asn formed a hydrogen bond specifically with the side chain of Arg235. These are more favorable to the cleavage of Sub M by ${\beta}$-secretase than Sub W. The two substrate peptides showed different tendency to bind to ${\beta}$-secretase and this information may useful for drug development to treat and prevent Alzheimer's disease.

  • This service uses beacon with BLE technology, and USER APP has priority with Anchor IPS which secures location and device. Since then, it has been linked with character beacons that can be used in various places. The character beacon which is recognized as a service is able to confirm the user's location through API key of the LBS CMS server, and receives various contents services of the UESR CMS server. The service network consists of character beacon, Anchor IPS, USER APP, LBS CMS server, and USER CMS server. The purpose of the service is to promote local tourism and local culture to tourists through local unique characters.

  • In recently years, repackaged malwares are becoming increased rapidly in Android smartphones. The repackaging is a technique to disassemble an app in a market, modify its source code, and then re-assemble the code, so that it is commonly used to make malwares by inserting malicious code in an app. However, it is impossible to collect all the apps in many android markets including too many apps. To solve the problem, we propose RePAD (RePackaged App Detector) scheme that is composed of a client and a remote server. In the smartphone-side, the client extracts the information of an app with low CPU overhead when a user installs the app. The remote server analyzes the information to decide whether the app is repackaged or not. Thus, the scheme reduces the time and cost to decide whether apps are repackaged. For the experiments, the client and server are implemented as an app on Galaxy TAB and PC respectively. We indicated that seven pairs of apps among ones collected in official and unofficial market are repackaged. Furthermore, RePAD only increases the average of CPU overhead of 1.9% and the maximum memory usage of 3.5 MB in Galaxy TAB.
