A Study on the Growth of KTP$(KTiOPO_4)$ Single Crystal (KTP$(KTiOPO_4)$ 단결정의 육성에 관한 연구)

  • Growth runs of KTP single crystals were carried out by the hydrothermal method. KTP powders used for the crystal growth were prepared as a single phase by the solid state reaction of a stoichiometric mixture of $KH_2PO_4 and TiO_2$ at TEX>$800^{\circ}C$ and subsequently by the hydrothermal treatment at $250^{\circ}C$ 4m KF solution. The most effective solvents for the crystal growth of KTP were KF and K $K_2HPO_4$ solutions. Solubilities of KTP in these solutions were positive over the range $350~450^{\circ}C$.Seed crystals of good quality could be obtained by the horizontal temperature gradient method at temperatures over the range 380~430^{\circ}C$ in these solutions. The hydrothermal conditions for the high growth rates of seed crystals are as follows: growth method; vertical temperature gradient method, solvent; 4m KF or $K_2HPO_4$ solution, temperature region; $400~450^{\circ}C$, pressure region; $1000~1500kg/cm^2$, where solubility of KTP was large enough to proceed the growth. Under such conditions, seed crystals of KTP are grown at a rate of approximately 0.06-0.08mm/day in the direction of the c-axis. Morphologies of grown crystals tended to be bounded by (100), (011) and (201) faces.

  • We have derived the linear complexity of a binary sequence generated by a Feedback with Carry Shift Regiater(FCSR) under the following condition: q is a power of a prime such that $q=r^e,\;(e{\geq}2)$ and r=2p+1, where both r and p are 2-prime. Also, a summation generator creates sequence from addition with carry of LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register) sequences. Similarly, it is possible to generate keystream by bitwise exclusive-oring on two FCSR sequences. In this paper, we described the cryptographic properties of a sequence generated by the FCSRs in view of the linear complexity.

  • In this study single crystalline corundum ($\alpha$-$Al_2O_3$) powders were prepared from gibbsite using hydrothermal growing processes. Addition of a mineralizer and the characteristics of solid substances were investigated to find their effects on the size distribution and crystalllnity of products. Experimental results showed that as the concentration of potassium hydroxide (KOH), a mineralizer, the particle size of corundum powders became larger at lower reaction temperatures. However, the size of corundum powders became smaller as the concentration of gibbsite increased in the feedstock. The hydrothermal synthetic conditions are also strongly dependent on the properties of hydrothermal solutions. Corundum powders which have the weight mean particle size of 1~10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ with shapes of hexagonal were prepared in this experiment.

Relative Influence of Surface and Interfacial Defects in Hydrothermally Grown Nanostructured ZnO (수열 합성된 나노구조를 갖는 ZnO 에 대한 표면 및 계면 결함의 상대적인 영향)

  • The relative concentration of surface and interfacial defects in hydrothermally grown ZnO nanostructures was investigated by a comparison of two samples having different growth temperatures via bias voltage sweep rate under laser illumination of 405 and 355 nm. The current of small ZnO nanostructures (growth temperature of $75^{\circ}C$) decreased when induced more slowly bias voltage sweep rate under the laser illumination. In contrast, the current of large ZnO nanostructures (growth temperature of $90^{\circ}C$) increased. This difference in currents indicates the relation of relative defects concentration between surface and interfacial defects of ZnO nanostructure. Our experimental approach has potential applicability in the analysis of influence on defects in ZnO devices.

Fabrication of Porous Ceramics for Microorganism Carrier by Hydrothermal Reaction (수열반응을 이용한 미생물 담체용 다공성 세라믹스의 제조)

  • Porous ceramics for microoganism carriers were prepared with amorphous alumina and pore formers by hydrothermal reaction, burn-out and wash-out method. Activated carbon with average size of 67,222, and 405 $\mu\textrm{m}$, organic polymer and inorganic salt were used as pore formers. Specimens were hydrothermally treated at 200$^{\circ}C$ for 24 h, heat-treated at 650$^{\circ}C$ for 5 h, and washed out at 80$^{\circ}C$ for 48 h. The formation of crystalline phase, porosity, pore size distribution and compressive strength were measured. The specimen with activated carbon was transformed to boehmite phase, but organic polymer and inorganic salt inhibited the aquohydroxoy complex gel and crystalline formation. The porous ceramics for microoganism carriers using activated carbon as a pore formers was successfully prepared, which is composed of ${\gamma}$-alumina phase with porosity of above 70 vol% and the compressive strength of 40 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

Underwater mobile communication scheme based on the direct sequence spread spectrum transmission using Doppler estimation and its sea trial results with the pseudo-moving transmission (도플러 추정을 적용한 직접수열 대역확산 전송 기반 수중 이동통신 방법 및 가상 이동신호를 이용한 해상시험 결과)

  • This paper presents a Doppler shift estimation method and signal processing schemes for Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) transmission to overcome the Doppler shift due to the moving of the underwater communication unit. The proposed method estimates a Doppler shift via 2 step procedures using the preamble with the two 64-length Frank sequences which has a good self-correlation characteristic and is insensitive to the Doppler shift. Furthermore, a packet of DSSS underwater mobile communication and a RAKE receiver are designed using the proposed Doppler shift estimation method. Due to the modulation scheme of the designed DSSS underwater mobile communication using Differential-Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DQPSK) for the data symbol transmission, the RAKE receiver dose not need a phase tracking and easily makes coherent signals among the combining RAKE branches. The designed RAKE receiving scheme including the proposed Doppler shift estimation method successfully decides information data using the DSSS signal transmitted from the pseudo-moving transmitter with velocity upto about 17.5 m/s.

Growth of calcite$(CaCO_3)$ single crystal by hydrothermal method (수열법에 의한 calcite$(CaCO_3)$ 단결정 성장)

  • Calcite(CaCO3) single crystals were grown hydrothermally and transmittance of as grown crystals was measured. Instead of platinium, teflon was lined onto the wall of autoclave to prevent the corrosion of autoclave wall by acidic NH4Cl solution. Spontaneous nucleation and growth of calcite crystal on teflon was reduced considerably by addition of NaCl and /or CH3COOH and applying low temperature gradient. When the temperature gradient exceeded to a few degrees from the critical temperature gradient(6-7℃), spontaneous nucleation and growth was rapidly increased in any hydrothermal solutions. Precise temperature control is thought to be the most important factor for the growth of calcite single crystal by hydrothermal technique. As grown calcite single crytal showed high transmittance compared to natural one by UV-visible analysis.

  • In this paper, we construct new LCZ sequence sets with parameters $(2^{n+1}-2,M,L,2)$. In this scheme, we can relatively freely choose the LCZ length L and the resulting LCZ sequence set has the size in which is nearly optimal with respect to Tang, Fan, and Matsufuji bound.

  • The heat treatment of PVC film containing PVC 65ft, DOP (Dioctyl Phthalate) 32% as plasticizer, Ca-Zn stearates and sur-face agent was performed under several conditions to study the dehydrochlorination of PVC and char production. In the case of $H_2$ $SO_4$, the dehydrochlorination was ca.100% at $250^{\circ}C$ for 3h. The char involving the smaller pores was produced with hydro-thermal treatment. The pore size became small with increasing the treatment time and temperature. In the case of treatment with $Ca(OH)_2$, the sizes of pores produced in char were about sever ~10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ at$ 225^{\circ}C$ for 12h. In the case of $_2$$SO_4$, the size of pores were about 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in 5M $_H2$$SO_4$for 12h.

Hydrothermal Synthesis and Characterization of BaTiO3 Fine Powders (BaTiO3 미세 분말의 수열합성 및 특성분석)

  • Hydrothermal synthesis was conducted with starting material as Barium hydroxide and hydrous titania ($TiO_2{\cdot}xH_2O$) to obtain barium titanate fine Powder. The conversion, crystal structure and properties of as-prepared powder were investigated according to reaction temperature, time and concentration. The effect of variables on conversion was in order of time < temperature < concentration and the maximum conversion reached to 99.5% in the case of hydrothermal synthesis at $180^{\circ}C$ for 2 h with 2.0 M reactant concentration. At low concentration such as 0.25 M, formation of unreacted $BaCO_3$ and $TiO_2$ was not inevitable at even high reaction temperature and these components converted into $BaTi_2O_5$ at high temperature and remained as impurity. As concentration of reactant increased, the size of as-synthesized $BaTiO_3$ powder deceased and Ba/Ti molar ratio approached into 1, showing Ba/Ti ratio of $1{\pm}0.005$ for reaction at $180^{\circ}C$ for 2 h with 2.0 M concentration.
