  • Spatial variations of a seismic wave are mainly wave passage and wave scattering. Wave passage effect is produced by changed characteristics of exciting seismic input motions applied to the bedrock. Modified input motions travel horizontally with time differences determined by apparent shear wave velocity of the bedrock. In this study, wave passage effect on the seismic response of a structure-soil system is investigated by modifying the finite element software of P3DASS (Pseudo 3-Dimensional Dynamic Analysis of a Structure-soil System) to apply inconsistent (time-delayed) seismic input motions along the soft soil-bedrock interface. Study results show that foundation size affected on the seismic response of a structure excited with inconsistent input motions in the lower period range below 0.5 seconds, and seismic responses of a structure were decreased considerably in the lower period range around 0.05 seconds due to the wave passage. Also, shear wave velocity of the bedrock affected on the seismic response of a structure in the lower period range below 0.3 seconds, with significant reduction of the seismic response for smaller shear wave velocity of the bedrock reaching approximately 20% for an apparent shear wave velocity of 1000m/s at a period of 0.05 seconds. Finally, it is concluded that wave passage effect reduces the seismic response of a structure in the lower period range when the bedrock under a soft soil is soft or the bedrock is located very deeply, and wave passage is beneficial for the seismic design of a short period structure like a nuclear container building or a stiff low-rise building.

  • The natural period calculation equations specified in the current building code are empirical formulas that depend on height and material type of the structure. Building with the upper wall and lower frame type is a unique structure which composed of two different structural system This type of structure needs either the deep transfer girder or the thick transfer plate that brings the sudden change of stiffness and mass. Therefore the natural period equations recommended by the current code can not be applied directly. In this study the natural period of building with typical plan obtained by dynamci analysis is compared with that of various codes. Ad approximate estimation equation for the natural period of building with the upper wall and lower frame type obtained by regression analysis is recommended. by the current code can not be applied directly. • Ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) associates ciphertext with access policies. Only when the user's attributes satisfy the ciphertext's policy, they can be capable to decrypt the ciphertext. Expressivity and security are the two directions for the research of CP-ABE. Most of the existing schemes only consider monotonic access structures are selectively secure, resulting in lower expressivity and lower security. Therefore, fully secure CP-ABE schemes with non-monotonic access structure are desired. In the existing fully secure non-monotonic access structure CP-ABE schemes, the attributes that are set is bounded and a one-use constraint is required by these projects on attributes, and efficiency will be lost. In this paper, to overcome the flaw referred to above, we propose a new fully secure non-monotonic access structure CP-ABE. Our proposition enforces no constraints on the scale of the attributes that are set and permits attributes' unrestricted utilization. Furthermore, the scheme's public parameters are composed of a constant number of group elements. We further compare the performance of our scheme with former non-monotonic access structure ABE schemes. It is shown that our scheme has relatively lower computation cost and stronger security.

  • Hybrid building structure, which comprise both the residential and commercial spaces in a building, are composed of upper shear-walls and lower frames. In these hybrid structures, the structural analysis and design of transfer systems which link upper-wall and lower-frame are crucial. The available structural design methods for the transfer girder are performed by taking a prototype structure, and the details of transfer girder based on these design methods are presented and compared with regard to the dimensions and amount of reinforcements.

  • Bran structure and gelatinization property of upland and lowland japonica waxy brown rice were compared. Dimension, weight and number of aleurone layer were similar between upland(Nonglimna 1) and lowland(Shinsunchalbyeo) rices, but the aleurone layer and pericarp of upland rice were thicker. Water uptake rate of upland rice at $60^{\circ}C$ was lower than that of lowland one. There was no difference in intrinsic viscosity between two rice starches. Upland rice starch had lower onset temperature, narrower gelatinization temperature and lower water content lot gelatinization compared with lowland rice starch.

  • We investigated accelerated soft error rate(ASER) in 8M static random access memory(SRAM) cells. The effects on ASER by well structure, operational voltage, and cell transistor threshold voltage are examined. The ASER decreased exponentially with respect to operational voltage. The chips with buried nwell1 layer showed lower ASER than those either with normal well structure or with buried nwell1 + buried pwell structure. The ASER decreased as the ion implantation energy onto buried nwell1 changed from 1.5 MeV to 1.0 MeV. The lower viscosity of the capping layer also revealed lower ASER value. The decrease in the threshold voltage of driver or load transistor in SRAM cells caused the increase in the transistor on-current, resulting in lower ASER value. We confirmed that in order to obtain low ASER SRAM cells, it is necessary to also the buried nwell1 structure scheme and to fabricate the cell transistors with low threshold voltage and high on-current.

  • Land use pattern in the Wangsuk river watershed was investigated on the bases of physiognomic vegetation maps made from the aerial photograph interpretation and field check. Landscape structure was analyzed using a GIS program supported by ArcView. Landscape structure depended on the geographical position of the river, such as the upper, middle and lower river. Watersheds of the upper and middle rivers were dominated by forests composed of secondary forest and plantation. But agricultural fields dominated that of the middle and lower river. Urban area and agricultural fields increased in from the upper toward the lower river watersheds. In addition to, a transformation of agricultural pattern into an institutional agriculture was characteristic in the middle and lower river basins. Water qualities of the Wangsuk river were usually better in the order of the upper, middle, and lower river, but they were fluctuated according to the site. Such fluctuation would due to self-purification of the river and land use pattern of the watershed as the non-point source. In this viewpoint, a strategy to manage the water quality in the level of watershed is urgently required.

  • The community structure of meiobenthos was studied in tidal flats of Kanghwado in November, 1997. Nematodes were the most dominant group among 18 total meiofaunal groups at most stations except for at lower tidal flats where the most abundant groups were harpacticoid copepods. Meiobenthos were the most abundant in the upper 1cm and their density decreased depending on the depth from the surface. The highest density of the meiobenthos was 6,094 inds. $10cm^{-2}$ at the upper tidal flat, while the lowest was 1,524 ind. $10cm^{-2}$ at the lower tidal flat. The density was higher in general at the upper tidal flats, but decreased at the stations toward lower tidal flat at all transect lines. At all transect lines, nematodes decreased as stations were along toward lower tidal flat whereas harpacticoids increased. The values of N/C(nematodes/benthic harpacticoids) ratio were higher at the upper tidal flats than the lower tidal flats at all transect lines.

  • When subjected to the strong earthquake ground motion, upper-wall lower-frame structures have high possibility of the weak-story failure in the lower frame part. Sufficient strength, energy dissipation capacity and ductility should be provided at the joint between the deep beam and the lower column. In this study, a typical structure was selected for a prototype and four 1:2.5 scaled models, representing the subassemblage including the exterior column and the deep beam, were constructed. The transverse reinforcement was designed according to ACI procedure¹ and the procedure proposed by Sheikh². The inelastic behavior of the subassemblages subjected to the cyclic lateral displacement were evaluated through investigation of the ultimate strength, ductility, load-deformation characteristics. From the test of 4 specimens, it is concluded that the specimens designed according to Sheikh's procedure revealed higher ductility than that by ACI procedure.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the behavior of 1/12 scale upper-wall lower-frame reinforced concrete structure subjected to earthquake excitations. For this purpose, Taft N21E earthquake accelerogram was simulated by using 4m$\times$4m shaking table. When the input acceleration is compared to that of output, it was found that simulation of shaking table is satisfactory. From the test results with peak ground acceleration(PGA) 0.22g, which corresponds to 0.11g in prototype by the similitude law, it can be observed that the model responded in elastic behavior and that large interstory drift occurred at the lower part of the structure.
