경남 사천지역 고등학생들의 학교급식 잔반에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (Factors related to School Food Waste in High School Students in Gyeongnam)

  • This study was undertaken to identify factors affecting school food waste generation using a questionnaire. The subjects were 254 high school students (male; 156, female; 98) in Sacheon, Gyeongnam divided into three groups of low (${\leq}1/week$), moderate (2~3/week), and high (${\geq}4/week$) according to the frequencies of food waste. The questionnaires consisted of general characteristics, anthropometric values, dietary habits, health-related behaviors, self-perceptions of food waste, snacking patterns, and nutrition knowledge. The main reasons behind food waste were 'too much food' in the low (20.9%) and moderate (32.2%) groups, and 'no appetite' in the high group (p<0.01). The main types of food waste were rice (44.2%) > fish (18.6%) > vegetables (14.0%) in the low group, rice (54.2%) > Kimchi/vegetables (15.3%) in the moderate group, rice (56.0%) > vegetables (20.0%) > Kimchi (16.0%) in the high group (p<0.01). School food waste was significantly affected by age, gender, monthly allowance, school grade, weight, BMI, regularity of meals, time of meals, type of breakfast, starting age of smoking, and cost for snacking.

A Study on the Nutrition Knowledge about the Eating and Food Consumption of Adults in Seoul

  • In this study, we want to investigate the nutrition knowledge, eating habits, and food intake patterns of adults who have a strong preference for sugary snacks or sugary drinks. In this study, 83 students, or 33.1% of the 267 adults, were found to belong to the sugary food group, and the results of the survey were as follows. In terms of the level of eating habits, both male and female adults see significant differences among the groups. In the question of the regularity of the three meals, the quality of breakfast, the balance of meals, the level of consumption of green vegetables, meat, fish and milk, the number of sugars was low, and the number of sugars, instant foods, ham and sausages was high. In terms of nutritional knowledge, both male and female adults had a low number of sugary foods, and there were significant differences among the groups. In terms of the frequency of food intake, the frequency of eating rice and mixed grain rice was low, and the frequency of eating ramen and bread was high.

  • Due to the standardized urban development since the industrial era, many urban spaces have experienced non-placeness. Recently, although interest in urban landscape, history, and cultural elements has been increasing, landscape management and control measures are being implemented mainly in large cities due to the low status of rural areas in the country. From this point of view, this study tried to lay the foundation for basic research in related fields by classifying the characteristics and types of streetscapes located near large cities, and to suggest directions that should be considered when managing streetscapes in the future. As a result of the analysis of landscape adjectives, the village felt secluded due to the low density compared to the city street overall, but it did not have a unique image of the region. Three factors were derived through factor analysis, and preference was affected in the order of aesthetic, regularity, and uniqueness. In addition, the research site was classified into three types through cluster analysis, and it was confirmed that the differences by type were due to aesthetics and naturalness. On the other hand, the uniqueness is generally low in all regions, so it seems that fundamental countermeasures are needed.

초등학교 고학년생의 성별과 영양지식 수준에 따른 식습관, 식품섭취빈도, 식태도 비교 (Dietary Habits, Food Frequency and Dietary Attitudes by Gender and Nutrition Knowledge Level in Upper-grade School Children)

  • This study was carried out to examine dietary habits, food frequency and dietary attitudes by gender and nutrition knowledge level in upper-grade school children. Subjects were 223 boys and 208 girls attending 13 elementary schools (5 th and 6 th graders). A self-administered questionnaire was developed to assess nutrition knowledge, dietary habits, food frequency, and dietary attitudes. Nutrition knowledge score assessed by 19 questions was significantly higher in girls than in boys. There were significant differences between boys and girls in several items in dietary habits such as enough breakfast time, dinner regularity, number of side dishes, eating speed, type of snack after dinner, and degree of saltiness of dishes. Girls consumed staple foods such as rice, noodles or bread more frequently, and consumed less frequently ramyun, fried foods, fast foods, and Chinese foods than boys. In addition, girls had more positive dietary attitudes in trying to reduce fast foods, Chinese foods, ramyun and fried foods. Also children in the high or moderate nutrition knowledge level groups had better dietary habits in frequency of meals, frequency of breakfast, enough breakfast time, dinner regularity, activity during the meal, number of side dishes, eating speed, type of snack after dinner, and better food choices by eating staple foods and vegetable side dishes, meats and beans more frequently, and fried foods, doughnuts/cakes, Chinese foods less frequently, and had better dietary attitudes in breakfast, vegetables and fruit intake than children in the low nutrition knowledge level group. Our results showed that dietary habits, food frequency and dietary attitudes were different by gender and nutrition knowledge level. These results suggest that in developing nutrition education program for elementary school children, the differences between gender and nutrition knowledge level should be considered. Nutrition education in elementary schools may change dietary habits and dietary attitudes through increasing nutrition knowledge.

경북 농촌지역 어린이 대상 영양지수 (Nutrition Quotient) 조사 및 평가 (Evaluation of items for the food behavior checklist and nutrition quotient score on children in rural areas of Gyeongbuk)

  • The aim of this study was to determine whether Nutrition Quotient (NQ) for children, which has been developed from data on urban children, can be applied to children in rural areas. A total of 200 children (108 boys and 92 girls) in fifth and sixth grade at three elementary schools in rural areas of Gyeongbuk participated in the survey conducted during June 2012. Questionnaires consisted of items on food intake frequency and dietary behavior. Food intake data were obtained using the 24-hour recall method, and nutrient intake was calculated using the CAN-Pro 4.0 Program. Percentages of children who took less than the estimated average requirement were 76.5%, 49.5%, 45.5%, 33.5%, and 26.0% for calcium, vitamin C, iron, vitamin A, and folate, respectively. Significant associations were observed between intake frequencies of vegetables, kimchi, and fruits, and intake of vitamin C, folate, and dietary fiber. White milk and legumes showed positive correlation with intake of calcium and vitamin A. Eating breakfast, meal regularity, and diverse side dishes showed positive correlation with intake of folate and calcium. The 19 food checklist items could be categorized according to five factors. The mean NQ score of the subjects was 62.0, which was similar to that of urban children, 64.4. NQ score and factor scores for balance, regularity, and practice were significantly lower in children with lower socioeconomic level as compared to those with higher socioeconomic level. Higher NQ score showed an association with increased intake of vitamin B2, folate, vitamin C, and calcium. In conclusion, NQ offers a valuable instrument for evaluation of food habit and dietary quality of rural children as well as urban children, and children with low socioeconomic status should be monitored by testing with NQ checklist before implementation of nutrition programs.

대전지역 남자 중학생의 스트레스와 식행동의 관련성 연구 (The Relationship Between Stress Level and Dietary Behavior Score of Middle School Male Students in Daejeon)

  • 본 연구는 청소년기 남자 중학생을 대상으로 스트레스 정도와 식행동 실태를 조사하고, 스트레스가 식행동에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 스트레스 요인으로 가족, 학업, 오락, 건강, 동성친구, 이성 친구, 교사, 일상생활의 8개 영역, 식행동 요인으로 식사의 규칙성과 균형성, 건강식의 3개 영역으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 대전 중구 지역에 위치한 남자 중학생 140명을 대상으로 2006년 7월 10일부터 7월 14일 사이에 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 설문지 140부 중 총 128부(91.4%)를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 첫째, 조사대상자의 스트레스 실태는 5점 만점에 평균 2.36으로 중간 정도 수준이었다. 영역별 차이는 크지 않았으며, 학업 영역에서의 스트레스(2.93)가 높았고, 이성 친구 관련 스트레스(1.96)가 낮았다. 둘째, 식행동 점수는 5점 만점에 3.02로 중간 수준이었다. 셋째, 스트레스 정도에 따라 낮은 군, 중간 군, 높은 군의 3개 집단으로 구분하였을 때, 중간 군의 식행동 점수가 가장 높았고 높은 군의 식행동 점수가 가장 낮았으나 유의한 차이는 아니었다. 넷째, 스트레스와 식행동의 상관관계를 살펴본 결과, 스트레스 총점은 식생활 균형성과 상관이 있었으며, 규칙성은 가족, 학업, 건강 관련 스트레스와 상관관계가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 즉 가족, 학업, 건강 관련 스트레스를 많이 받을수록 규칙성 점수는 낮았다.

유한체상의 자원과 시간에 효율적인 다항식 곱셈기 (Resource and Delay Efficient Polynomial Multiplier over Finite Fields GF (2m))

  • Many cryptographic and error control coding algorithms rely on finite field GF(2m) arithmetic. Hardware implementation of these algorithms needs an efficient realization of finite field arithmetic operations. Finite field multiplication is complicated among the basic operations, and it is employed in field exponentiation and division operations. Various algorithms and architectures are proposed in the literature for hardware implementation of finite field multiplication to achieve a reduction in area and delay. In this paper, a low area and delay efficient semi-systolic multiplier over finite fields GF(2m) using the modified Montgomery modular multiplication (MMM) is presented. The least significant bit (LSB)-first multiplication and two-level parallel computing scheme are considered to improve the cell delay, latency, and area-time (AT) complexity. The proposed method has the features of regularity, modularity, and unidirectional data flow and offers a considerable improvement in AT complexity compared with related multipliers. The proposed multiplier can be used as a kernel circuit for exponentiation/division and multiplication.

  • This paper proposes a new fault-tolerant technique for bitonic sorting networks which can be used for designing ATM switches based on Batcher-Banyan network. The main goal in this paper is to design a cost-effective fault-tolerant bitonic sorting network. In order to recover a fault, additional comparison elements and additional links are used. A Dynamic Redundant Bitonic Sorting (DRBS) network is based on the Dynamic Redundant network and can be constructed with several different variations. The proposed fault-tolerant sorting network offers high fault-tolerance; low time delays; maintenance of cell sequence; simple routing; and regularity and modularity.

서울 거주 20대 여성의 아침식사 섭취 빈도에 따른 식습관 및 영양소 섭취상태 조사 (Dietary Habits and Nutritional Status of Young Women according to Breakfast Frequency in Seoul)

  • Objectives: Although breakfast is important to nutrition balance, prevention of overeating, and weight control, people in their 20s (males: 55.1%, females: 49.9%) were reported to have the highest rate of skipping breakfast in 2016 Korea Health Statistics. This study aims to examine dietary habits and nutrient intake depending on breakfast frequency among young women in Seoul. Methods: The subjects were 655 young women in Seoul from August to October 2016, and the survey was performed by using a questionnaire that included general characteristics, dietary habits, and eating behavior. Body composition was determined by bioelectric impedance analysis. Nutritional status was examined by the 24-hour recall method. Results: The participants were classified by breakfast intake frequency; '${\geq}5times/week$ (n=160)', '1-4 times/week (n=327)', and 'breakfast skipping (n=168)'. The 'breakfast skipping' group had lower frequency and regularity of meals. In addition, the 'breakfast skipping' group had a higher frequency of eating-out and late-night meals. There was no difference in total calories between the 'breakfast skipping' group and other groups, but the 'breakfast skipping' group had significantly low carbohydrate and fiber intakes. The participants showed lower intakes of calories, fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, niacin, folic acid, calcium, potassium, and zinc in comparison with recommended intakes. Especially, the 'breakfast skipping' group had significantly lower fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, potassium levels compared to the '${\geq}5times/week$' group. For Mean Adequacy Ratio (MAR), the 'breakfast skipping' group recorded a ratio of 0.60, which was lower than those of other groups. Index of Nutritional Quality (INQ) including fiber, vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus were significantly lower in the breakfast skipper group, compared to the breakfast eater group. Conclusions: The 'breakfast skipping' group showed low regularity of meals and a high frequency of eating-out and late-night meals. The breakfast regular eater group showed high intake of micronutrients and quality of meals was high in general. Skipping breakfast could lower nutrient intake and quality of meals, which requires attention.

어린이 영양지수 (nutrition quotient)를 이용한 경기 지역 일부 초등학생의 식습관 평가 (Evaluation of Dietary Behavior of Elementary School Students in the Gyunggi Using Nutrition Quotient)

  • 본 연구는 경기지역 초등학교 4, 5학년 406명(남 199명, 여 207명)을 대상으로 영양지수(NQ : Nutrition Quotient) 설문을 이용하여 식습관을 평가하였다. NQ는 19개 문항으로 구성되어, 5 요인(균형, 다양, 절제, 규칙, 실천)으로 나누어 평가하였다. NQ 총점은 남자 $61.40{\pm}14.31$, 여자 $63.02{\pm}14.62$로 유의미한 차이는 없었다. 요인별 점수를 살펴보면 절제(남 $63.57{\pm}19.00$, 여 $70.84{\pm}16.20$), 실천(남 $58.56{\pm}20.50$, 여 $64.69{\pm}22.57$) 점수에 대해 성별에 따른 유의미한 차이가 나타났으나 다양(남 $71.70{\pm}24.72$, 여 $71.26{\pm}23.57$), 규칙(남 $59.39{\pm}23.73$, 여 $59.34{\pm}23.57$), 균형(남 $56.73{\pm}19.62$, 여 $54.58{\pm}20.03$) 영역에서는 성별 차이가 관찰되지 않았다. 영양지수 등급 분석결과, '1등급' 10.8%, '2등급' 9.4%, '3등급' 45.1%, '4등급' 20.4%, '5등급' 14.3%로 나타났다. 본 조사에서 낮은 영양지수 등급으로 분류된 어린이를 위한 영양교육을 제공하여 영양상태를 증진시킬 필요가 있다.
